Considering both the discrete and ordered nature of the household car ownership an ordered logistic regression model to predict household car ownership is established by using the data of Nanjing Household Travel Survey in the year 2012. The model results show that some household characteristics such as the number of driver licenses household income and home location are significant.Yet the intersection density indicating the street patterns of home location and the dummy near the subway and the bus stop density indicating the transit accessibility of home location are insignificant.The model estimation obtains a good γ2 the goodness of fit of the model and the model validation also shows a good performance in prediction.The marginal effects of all the significant explanatory variables are calculated to quantify the odds change in the household car ownership following a one-unit change in the explanatory variables. 展开更多

According to the road adaptive requirements for the vehicle longitudinal safety assistant system an estimation method of the road longitudinal friction coefficient is proposed.The method can simultaneously be applied to both the high and the low slip ratio conditions. Based on the simplified magic formula tire model the road longitudinal friction coefficient is preliminarily estimated by the recursive least squares method.The estimated friction coefficient and the tires model parameters are considered as extended states. The extended Kalman filter algorithm is employed to filter out the noise and adaptively adjust the tire model parameters. Then the final road longitudinal friction coefficient is accurately and robustly estimated. The Carsim simulation results show that the proposed method is better than the conventional algorithm. The road longitudinal friction coefficient can be quickly and accurately estimated under both the high and the low slip ratio conditions.The error is less than 0.1 and the response time is less than 2 s which meets the requirements of the vehicle longitudinal safety assistant system. 展开更多

A study of the mechanism of fences was given to reduce drag by means of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experimental research.A 3D mathematical model has been developed based on com- putational fluid dynamics software Phoenics that was capable of handling steady state,3D flow to simulate the flow field around the truck.The experiment made in a low speed wind tunnel is used as references for validation.By analyzing the results of calculation and experiment,the flowing mechanism of the flow field around the container truck and the drag-reducing mechanism of #-shaped fences on the truck are unveiled, which provides theoretical guidance to the aerodynamic formation designing and amelioration. 展开更多

In addition, the shape of the dome, which is most suitable for type lI CNG storage vessels, was proposed by a process of review and analysis of various existing shapes, and the minimum thickness was established in this sequence: metal liners, composite materials and dome parts. Due to non-stationary characteristics of the vibration signal acquired from cylinder head,a misfire fault diagnosis system of automobile engines based on correlation coefficient gained by wavelet packet and extreme learning machine(ELM)is proposed.Firstly,the original signal is decomposed by wavelet packet,and correlation coefficients between the reconstructed signal of each sub-band and the original signal as well as the energy entropy of each sample are obtained.Then,the eigenvectors established by the correlation coefficients method and the energy entropy method fused with kurtosis are inputted to the four kinds of classifiers including BP neural network,KNN classifier,support vector machine and ELM respectively for training and testing.Experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively reflect the differences that the fault produces and identify the single-cylinder misfire accurately,which has the advantages of higher accuracy and shorter training time. 展开更多

There are associated costs with excess raw materials, scrap parts, poor use of resources, and outdated materials. All of these contribute to a company's solid waste stream, and must be addressed when calculating the costs of disposal. In addition, it is not ecologically or economically sound decision to allow recyclables to enter landfills. Waste analysis and minimization can be very financially advantageous to companies and should be evaluated. This paper discusses a methodology and a case study that uses a solid waste audit process with a focus on urethane recycling. 展开更多

In the present paper, the effect of a curved duct upstream on performance of small centrifugal compressors for automobile turbochargers is discussed. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of a turbocharger compressor validated for the compressor model with the straight pipe applied to the compressor with the curved pipe are executed, and the deterioration of the performance for the curved pipe is confirmed. It is also found that the deterioration of compressor performance is caused by the interaction of the secondary flow and the impeller. 展开更多

The quantification of phosphorus(P) in bulk soil and P distribution in different size fractions of water-stable aggregates(WSAs)are important for assessing potential P loss through runoff. We evaluated available and total P distribution within WSAs of a sitty clay to clay soil in a long-term fertility experiment of a rice-wheat cropping system in India. Surface soil samples were collected from seven plots amended with NPK fertilizers in combination with or without organic amendments, farmyard manure(FYM), green manure(GM), and paddy straw(PS). The plot with no NPK fertilizers or organic amendments was set as a control. The soil samples were separated by wet sieving into four soil aggregate size fractions: large macroaggregates(> 2.0 mm), small macroaggregates(0.25–2.0 mm), fine microaggregates(0.05–0.25 mm), and a silt + clay-sized fraction(< 0.05 mm). Structural indices were higher in the soil receiving organic amendments than in the soil receiving inorganic fertilizer alone. Organically amended soil had a higher proportion of stable macroaggregates than the control and the soil receiving inorganic fertilizer alone, which were rich in microaggregates. Total and available P contents within WSAs were inversely related to the aggregate size, irrespective of treatment. The distribution of available and total P in the soil aggregate size fraction was as follows: silt + clay-size fraction > small macroaggregates > fine microaggregates> large macroaggregates. Within a size class, aggregate-associated available and total P contents in the organically amended soil were in the following order: FYM > PS ≥ GM. The available P content of the microaggregates(< 0.25 mm) was 8-to 10-times higher than that of the macroaggregates(> 0.25 mm), and the total P content of the microaggregates was 4-to 5-times higher than that of the macroaggregates. Cultivation without organic amendments resulted in more microaggregates that could be checked by the application of organic amendments such as FYM and GM, which increased the proportion of water-stable macroaggregates by consolidating microaggregates into macroaggregates. 展开更多

For safe and reliable operation of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles,the real-time monitoring of their internal states is important.The purpose of our study is to find an easily implementable,online identification method for lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles.In this article,we propose an equivalent circuit model structure.Based on the model structure we derive the recursive mathematical description.The recursive extended least square algorithm is introduced to estimate the model parameters online.The accuracy and robustness are validated through experiments and simulations.Real-road driving cycle experiment shows that the proposed online identification method can achieve acceptable accuracy with the maximum error of less than 5.52%.In addition,it is proved that the proposed method can also be used to estimate the real-time SOH and SOC of the batteries. 展开更多
