The results show that the avera...This paper studies the growth law of 23-year-old Castanopsis fissa planta- tion in Haiming forest farm (Pingguo County, Baise City, Guangxi Province) with the method of stem analysis. The results show that the average DBH, tree height and volume of the 23-year-old C. fissa plantation are 19.4 cm, 20.4 m and 0.326 1 m3 respectively. The fast growing periods of DBH, tree height and volume are the 2^nd- 8^th, 6^th-11^th, 6^th-23^nd year. Annual increment curve and average increment curve of volume haven't intersected in the 23 years, which means the 23-year-old C. fissais plantation has not reached the quantitative mature age. The growth equations of DBH, tree height and volume are D=1.713 3T-0.050 6T2+0.000 7T2-1.942 2, H= 1.925 7T-0.039 8T2-2.489 0, V=-0.010 4T-0.002 4T2-4.084 8e^-0.005 T2+0.012 7. Ac- cording to the volume regression equation of Castanopsis fissa, it will reach quanti- tative maturity in the 24~ year.展开更多

The roof overlying strata movement law in the stope of a fully mechanized caving face with large mining height is similar to that of the common, fully mechanized caving stope, which is determined by the deformation and instability of the structure of "multi-span beams". Design should be understood as the first step of all human' s purposeful activity, which is a daily behavior for everyone. Four laws are summarized, which describe the basic patterns of design and are the constituents of design science. They are the law of design based on existed knowledge, law of in- completeness of design knowledge, law of design centered on new knowledge acquirement and law of competi- tiveness of design knowledge. The four basic laws show the knowledge essence of design. To enrich the existed knowledge, to make it convenient to be used, to teach designers with high intuition and inspiration in picking useful elements of existed knowledge and shaping competitive ideas and to have strong new knowledge acquire- ment facility are the basic conditions of good designs. Study of design science will promote the structure of tra- ditional engineering education. An important conclusion is derived that there will be no successful innovation without good design.展开更多
Ever since Lawrence Goodwyn published The Populist Moment, social historians have been keenly aware of the power culture represents when it comes to resistance. Historically, "movement culture" has been used to crea...Ever since Lawrence Goodwyn published The Populist Moment, social historians have been keenly aware of the power culture represents when it comes to resistance. Historically, "movement culture" has been used to create a collective climate and offered political activists a springboard to discuss with the masses the benefits of joining a social movement. "Beyond the Dreams of Loveliness" uses the cultural outlet of film and the labor movement in the city of Detroit as analytical tools to examine working class community resistance throughout the 1930s. In the midst of the "golden age of film" community activists and union organizers--some of whom were well-known radicals and some of whom were mainstream unionists--used the institution of cinema to instill a level of class consciousness in the masses and mobilize the working class community against exploitation of employers, reactionary politicians, and white supremacist organizations. Movie-going had been a very popular form of recreation in Detroit since the 1920s and downtown theatres increasingly became the destination of an eclectic array of workers. Movie theaters themselves were bastions of community activity around the thirties and many were located in the heart of the city's working class district. Yet it was the films themselves that offered community activists and unionists a chance to converse with workers regarding the socio-economic matters of the day. Hollywood released a good number of films that dealt with working class issues and provided activists with ample opportunities to "instruct" the audience and carry on the discussion into the factory or union halls. "Beyond the Dreams of Loveliness" relies on a combination of oral histories, movie reviews, film clips, and union and/or working class organizational records to illuminate how activists in Detroit's working class community used film as an outlet to inspire working class resistance. In sum, film provided an accessible form of entertainment that proved to be effective on two fronts: It promoted increased group cooperation, friendship, and alliances while it also fostered a shared culture, making it easier for activists to organize workers in the coming struggles for unionism.展开更多

Selecting 32201 working-face as research area, analyzed the change rule of groundwater level and aquifer thickness under mining impact with a large number of water level observation data. Then, the impacts of groundwater level change on vegetation were analyzed by the relationship theory of arid area groundwater and vegetation. The results show that the aquifer structure and the water condition of supply flow and drainage are changed by the water proof mining. The groundwater level recovere only a little compared with the original groundwater level in two years. But the great change of groundwater level do not have notable influences on vegetation of this mining area, and further study indicates that there are certain conditions where groundwater level change impacted on vegetation. When the influence of groundwater level change was evaluated, the plant ecological water level, warning water level and spatial distribution character of original groundwater and mining-impacted groundwater-level change should be integrated.展开更多
A new method for determining two key parameters(threshold pressure and permeability)for fabricating metal matrix composites was proposed based on the equation-solving method.An infiltration experimental device was dev...A new method for determining two key parameters(threshold pressure and permeability)for fabricating metal matrix composites was proposed based on the equation-solving method.An infiltration experimental device was devised to measure the infiltration behavior precisely with controllable infiltration velocity.Two experiments with alloy Pb-Sn infiltrating into Al2O3 preform were conducted independently under two different pressures so as to get two different infiltration curves.Two sets of coefficients which are functions of threshold pressure and permeability can be obtained through curve fitting method.By solving the two-variable equation set,two unknown variables were determined.It is shown that the determined threshold pressure and permeability are very close to the calculated ones and are also verified by another independent infiltration experiment.The proposed method is also feasible to determine the key infiltration parameters for other metal matrix composite systems.展开更多

The...In order to investigate the influences of caliper, formation thickness and invaded zone on the form of dual laterologs, forward modeling technique were applied to calculate the dual laterologs for different cases. The result shows that the resistivity logs become smoother and lower as the borehole diameter increases, the increase of the contrast between mud resistivity and formation resistivity induce the logs to be more pointed. When the formation thickness is less than lm, the two-peak on the logs for resistive invasion vanished, and for thickness between 1 m and 4 m, the form of logs does not vary significantly. If the formation thickness is greater than 4 m, a platform appears on the logs at the middle of the formation. The thinner the invaded zone is, the more obvious the invasion feature on the laterologs is. For thick invaded zone the form of logs tend to be that of an uninvaded resistive formation. The form and amplitude of logs depend on the resistivity contrast between invaded zone, uninvaded formation and adjacentlayers.展开更多
Hate crimes are a culture phenomenon which is perceived by most as an occurrence that should be uprooted from the society. Yet, to date, we have been unable to do so. Hate crimes are the subject of research and commen...Hate crimes are a culture phenomenon which is perceived by most as an occurrence that should be uprooted from the society. Yet, to date, we have been unable to do so. Hate crimes are the subject of research and comments by experts in various fields. In this regard, most scholars agree that a hate based crime is distinguished from a "regular" criminal offence by the motive--the attack is aimed at a victim who is part of a differentiated minority group. However, when reading the relevant documents in the area, it seems that the differences between the experts start at the most basic point--what constitutes hate crimes? This article analyses the concept of "hate crimes" via an interdisciplinary approach aimed at flashing out the fundamental gaps in the research. We have found that the problems include, inter alia, discrepancies in the definition of hate crimes, methodological difficulties regarding validity and legitimacy (mainly due to the absence of information based on the attacker's point of view) and the lack of agreement on the appropriate legal methods required to deal with the ramifications of hate crimes. While part I of this paper revolves around the theoretical aspects of the questions put forth at the centre of this article, part II looks at the same questions from a legal viewpoint. The correlation between the two chapters shows the impact the methodological difficulties have on enforcement endeavors. This relation is further advanced through the examination of test cases from different countries, among them--lsrael. Finally, the article concludes by suggesting a few thoughts on the way to overcome the theoretical problems and making the enforcement efforts more efficient.展开更多

Scientific analyses, as well as everyday...The civilisation transformations which occur in the sphere of human work, have a strong influence over their functioning both in the professional and extraprofessional spheres. Scientific analyses, as well as everyday observation, suggest that there are increases in the tension between work and personal life, which results in imbalance and perceiving both the spheres as mutually contradictory, as well as having adverse consequences for workers and their families, organisations, the society, and economics. As regards this occurrence, the aim of the article is to show selected civilizational trends which generate the issues with maintaining work--personal life balance of contemporary humans. The article is of theoretical character and is based on the method of critical literature analysis, as well as on the analysis of formal-legal documents, reports, and statistical sources. The theoretical-case analyses let one formulate a conclusion that the transformation one undergone in the sphere of professional work often bears adverse consequences for the sphere of workers' personal lives and this should be a significant scientific research field.展开更多

Although a broad range of research relating to this field already exists, not enough emphasis has yet been placed on this issue in Poland. In all probability it would not be a point for broad discussion if this situation related to a country, where agriculture is negligible. Nonetheless, in Poland agriculture plays a very important role in the economy: it employs 17% of labour force and arable land covers about 60% of the total area. Yet, even where land consolidation work has been carried out for years, the expected effects are still not appreciable, mostly because of the disastrous formal and legal policy. This paper intends to make a contribution to the field of knowledge of farmland merging in Poland. Particular attention was focused on the importance of land management policy in the streamlining of land consolidation activities. The study brings a fresh view on the examination of the effectiveness of farmland merging work, based on two different formal procedures carried out in Poland. During the investigation the main obstacles and weaknesses in legal regulation were revealed while at the same time, producing possible solutions.展开更多

Generally, the spur bevel gear in the cold orbital forging process is formed by two steps: the preforming step and the final step. Due to the great importance of the final step to gear forming and its complication with interactive factors, this work aims at examining the influence of key factors on the final step in cold orbital forging of a spur bevel gear. Using the finite element(FE) method and control variate method, the influence rules of four key factors, rotation velocity of the upper tool, n, feeding velocity of the lower tool, v, tilted angle of the upper tool, γ, friction factor between the tools and the billet, m, on the geometry and the deformation inhomogeneity of the cold orbital forged gear are thoroughly clarified. The research results show that the flash becomes more homogeneous with increasing v, increasing m, decreasing n or decreasing γ. And the deformation of the gear becomes more homogeneous with increasing v, decreasing n or decreasing γ. Finally, a corresponding experiment is conducted, which verifies the accuracy of FE simulation conclusions.展开更多

Being foremost affected by the food-related waste stream, 92 employees from food establishments located inside the University of the Philippines were provided expert-validated survey questionnaire to identify their perception on environment and pollution as well as describe their awareness on environmental education and environmental ethics concepts. Thirty-nine (42.4%) related the concept of environment mainly to trees, plants, animals, and the physical environment such as rivers. Only twenty-six (28.3%) expressed an attitude of concern on the current state of the environment. Six (6.5%) conveyed negative human behavior as the reason why the environment is in a dismal state and the same percentage (6.5%) showed concern for the environment mainly because humans benefit from it. Fifteen (16.3%) opted not to share their opinion. For perception on pollution, thirty-six (39.1%) linked the concept to the presence of land, air, or water pollution and twenty-three (25%) associated the pollution to negative effects on human health and on the environment. Twelve (13%) mentioned concern over the presence of pollution and twenty-one (22.8%) did not share their opinion on pollution. Awareness on environmental ethics concepts was identified using 15-item Likert Scale Questionnaire. Areas in environmental concepts where participants most strongly agreed include "value of life," diversity and intrinsic value, cooperation, common good, and social responsibility. Results of this survey will be integrated into the discourse on the proposed policy of the University of the Philippines to segregate waste at-source. The said policy seeks to ensure that: (1) only food waste from concessionaires will be deposited directly to the compost site; (2) recyclables are to be sold; and (3) only residuals such as non-biodegradables and non-recyclables are to be sent to the dumpsite.展开更多

Among various types of precarious employment, insuranc...The purpose of this study is to understand limitations and possibilities of organizing independent contractors by focusing on insurance solicitors in South Korea. Among various types of precarious employment, insurance solicitors are an exemplar case of independent contractor jobs in Korea. According to the narrow interpretation on the employment relationship by the courts, the labor standard law does not treat insurance solicitors as workers. And, most of insurance solicitors are not affiliated with labor unions. As a result, insurance solicitors are outside labor protections. Under this context, insurance solicitors attempted to organize their own union--Korean Insurance Agents' Union (KIAU) in the early 2000s, and turned it into a branch of Korean Finance and Service Workers' Union (KFSWU) in 2004. However, the KIAU lost its membership rapidly since the mid-2000s and has failed to revitalize itself until now. So, in this study, the author focuses on the changes in the employment structure behind the growth of the insurance industry in the private sector and the reason why union organizing of independent contractors was not successful.展开更多

文摘A new method for determining two key parameters(threshold pressure and permeability)for fabricating metal matrix composites was proposed based on the equation-solving method.An infiltration experimental device was devised to measure the infiltration behavior precisely with controllable infiltration velocity.Two experiments with alloy Pb-Sn infiltrating into Al2O3 preform were conducted independently under two different pressures so as to get two different infiltration curves.Two sets of coefficients which are functions of threshold pressure and permeability can be obtained through curve fitting method.By solving the two-variable equation set,two unknown variables were determined.It is shown that the determined threshold pressure and permeability are very close to the calculated ones and are also verified by another independent infiltration experiment.The proposed method is also feasible to determine the key infiltration parameters for other metal matrix composite systems.
文摘In seasonal frozen soil region,the engineering geological properties of loess-like soil will be deteriorated after freeze-thaw cycles.Through the freeze-thaw cycle experiment of remolded loess-like soil,under different freezing temperatures,the authors carried out freeze-thaw cycle tests for 3 times and 20 times,respectively.With mercury intrusion porosimetry and granulometric analysis,from the micro-structure,the authors studied the law that freeze-thaw cycle times and frozen temperature effect on the variation of microscopic pore of loesslike soil.This result can provide theoretical basis for comprehensive treatment of problems in the construction of the project in seasonal frozen loess-like soil region.

In this context, literature is an important source of music culture that takes inspiration from the customs and traditions of a society. Prosodic meter is echoed in form, usul and general structure in works composed from the divan literature and almost lives in the work. In the same way, when examples of folk literature composed by composers and performed by poets and a^lks are examined, it is observed that there are parallels between literary features and form, structure and rhythmic features. 文摘This paper is concerned with the generalized nonlinear second-order equation.By the direct construction method,all of the first-order multipliers of the equation are obtained,and the corresponding complete conservation laws(CLs) of such equations are provided.Furthermore,the integrability of the equation is considered in terms of the conservation laws.In addition,the relationship of multipliers and symmetries of the equations is investigated.
文摘In order to investigate the influences of caliper, formation thickness and invaded zone on the form of dual laterologs, forward modeling technique were applied to calculate the dual laterologs for different cases. The result shows that the resistivity logs become smoother and lower as the borehole diameter increases, the increase of the contrast between mud resistivity and formation resistivity induce the logs to be more pointed. When the formation thickness is less than lm, the two-peak on the logs for resistive invasion vanished, and for thickness between 1 m and 4 m, the form of logs does not vary significantly. If the formation thickness is greater than 4 m, a platform appears on the logs at the middle of the formation. The thinner the invaded zone is, the more obvious the invasion feature on the laterologs is. For thick invaded zone the form of logs tend to be that of an uninvaded resistive formation. The form and amplitude of logs depend on the resistivity contrast between invaded zone, uninvaded formation and adjacentlayers.
文摘Hate crimes are a culture phenomenon which is perceived by most as an occurrence that should be uprooted from the society. Yet, to date, we have been unable to do so. Hate crimes are the subject of research and comments by experts in various fields. In this regard, most scholars agree that a hate based crime is distinguished from a "regular" criminal offence by the motive--the attack is aimed at a victim who is part of a differentiated minority group. However, when reading the relevant documents in the area, it seems that the differences between the experts start at the most basic point--what constitutes hate crimes? This article analyses the concept of "hate crimes" via an interdisciplinary approach aimed at flashing out the fundamental gaps in the research. We have found that the problems include, inter alia, discrepancies in the definition of hate crimes, methodological difficulties regarding validity and legitimacy (mainly due to the absence of information based on the attacker's point of view) and the lack of agreement on the appropriate legal methods required to deal with the ramifications of hate crimes. While part I of this paper revolves around the theoretical aspects of the questions put forth at the centre of this article, part II looks at the same questions from a legal viewpoint. The correlation between the two chapters shows the impact the methodological difficulties have on enforcement endeavors. This relation is further advanced through the examination of test cases from different countries, among them--lsrael. Finally, the article concludes by suggesting a few thoughts on the way to overcome the theoretical problems and making the enforcement efforts more efficient.
文摘The civilisation transformations which occur in the sphere of human work, have a strong influence over their functioning both in the professional and extraprofessional spheres. Scientific analyses, as well as everyday observation, suggest that there are increases in the tension between work and personal life, which results in imbalance and perceiving both the spheres as mutually contradictory, as well as having adverse consequences for workers and their families, organisations, the society, and economics. As regards this occurrence, the aim of the article is to show selected civilizational trends which generate the issues with maintaining work--personal life balance of contemporary humans. The article is of theoretical character and is based on the method of critical literature analysis, as well as on the analysis of formal-legal documents, reports, and statistical sources. The theoretical-case analyses let one formulate a conclusion that the transformation one undergone in the sphere of professional work often bears adverse consequences for the sphere of workers' personal lives and this should be a significant scientific research field.
文摘Farmland merging is a significant tool in comprehensive rural areas development. Although a broad range of research relating to this field already exists, not enough emphasis has yet been placed on this issue in Poland. In all probability it would not be a point for broad discussion if this situation related to a country, where agriculture is negligible. Nonetheless, in Poland agriculture plays a very important role in the economy: it employs 17% of labour force and arable land covers about 60% of the total area. Yet, even where land consolidation work has been carried out for years, the expected effects are still not appreciable, mostly because of the disastrous formal and legal policy. This paper intends to make a contribution to the field of knowledge of farmland merging in Poland. Particular attention was focused on the importance of land management policy in the streamlining of land consolidation activities. The study brings a fresh view on the examination of the effectiveness of farmland merging work, based on two different formal procedures carried out in Poland. During the investigation the main obstacles and weaknesses in legal regulation were revealed while at the same time, producing possible solutions.

文摘Cold orbital forging is an advanced spur bevel gear forming technology. Generally, the spur bevel gear in the cold orbital forging process is formed by two steps: the preforming step and the final step. Due to the great importance of the final step to gear forming and its complication with interactive factors, this work aims at examining the influence of key factors on the final step in cold orbital forging of a spur bevel gear. Using the finite element(FE) method and control variate method, the influence rules of four key factors, rotation velocity of the upper tool, n, feeding velocity of the lower tool, v, tilted angle of the upper tool, γ, friction factor between the tools and the billet, m, on the geometry and the deformation inhomogeneity of the cold orbital forged gear are thoroughly clarified. The research results show that the flash becomes more homogeneous with increasing v, increasing m, decreasing n or decreasing γ. And the deformation of the gear becomes more homogeneous with increasing v, decreasing n or decreasing γ. Finally, a corresponding experiment is conducted, which verifies the accuracy of FE simulation conclusions.

Since the implementation of Bankruptcy law in 2007?to the end of 2016, there are already 75 listed companies in the bankruptcy reorganization process to rectify the operation. Bankruptcy Reorganization is becoming an important way for some enterprises to get rid of their difficulties. However, whether the enterprises after the bankruptcy reorganization can really get reborn is worth further study. This article uses HULUDAO ZINC INDUSTRY CO.,LTD. as an example, examines the financial performance and market performance of the company before and after the bankruptcy reorganization, and verifies the effect of the bankruptcy reorganization system in order to provide guidance and suggestions for improving the system of bankruptcy reorganization of the listed companies.
文摘The waste management challenge in university campuses includes food and food packaging materials. Being foremost affected by the food-related waste stream, 92 employees from food establishments located inside the University of the Philippines were provided expert-validated survey questionnaire to identify their perception on environment and pollution as well as describe their awareness on environmental education and environmental ethics concepts. Thirty-nine (42.4%) related the concept of environment mainly to trees, plants, animals, and the physical environment such as rivers. Only twenty-six (28.3%) expressed an attitude of concern on the current state of the environment. Six (6.5%) conveyed negative human behavior as the reason why the environment is in a dismal state and the same percentage (6.5%) showed concern for the environment mainly because humans benefit from it. Fifteen (16.3%) opted not to share their opinion. For perception on pollution, thirty-six (39.1%) linked the concept to the presence of land, air, or water pollution and twenty-three (25%) associated the pollution to negative effects on human health and on the environment. Twelve (13%) mentioned concern over the presence of pollution and twenty-one (22.8%) did not share their opinion on pollution. Awareness on environmental ethics concepts was identified using 15-item Likert Scale Questionnaire. Areas in environmental concepts where participants most strongly agreed include "value of life," diversity and intrinsic value, cooperation, common good, and social responsibility. Results of this survey will be integrated into the discourse on the proposed policy of the University of the Philippines to segregate waste at-source. The said policy seeks to ensure that: (1) only food waste from concessionaires will be deposited directly to the compost site; (2) recyclables are to be sold; and (3) only residuals such as non-biodegradables and non-recyclables are to be sent to the dumpsite.
文摘The purpose of this study is to understand limitations and possibilities of organizing independent contractors by focusing on insurance solicitors in South Korea. Among various types of precarious employment, insurance solicitors are an exemplar case of independent contractor jobs in Korea. According to the narrow interpretation on the employment relationship by the courts, the labor standard law does not treat insurance solicitors as workers. And, most of insurance solicitors are not affiliated with labor unions. As a result, insurance solicitors are outside labor protections. Under this context, insurance solicitors attempted to organize their own union--Korean Insurance Agents' Union (KIAU) in the early 2000s, and turned it into a branch of Korean Finance and Service Workers' Union (KFSWU) in 2004. However, the KIAU lost its membership rapidly since the mid-2000s and has failed to revitalize itself until now. So, in this study, the author focuses on the changes in the employment structure behind the growth of the insurance industry in the private sector and the reason why union organizing of independent contractors was not successful.
