The results show that, the equilibrium output and the optimal social welfare under the RD investment subsidy policy are both less than those under the product subsidy policy; the optimal RD investment under the RD investment subsidy policy is less than that under the product subsidy policy; and the RD product subsidy has a more obvious incentive effect on firm RD investment. Under the background of the leading edge of technology of foreign firms, the product subsidy policy drawn up by the government to encourage RD innovation of domestic firms is more effective than the RD investment subsidy policy.展开更多

First, this paper describes the change in income gaps before and after reform and opening-up in 1978 and found that income gaps had been expanding between urban and rural areas, within cities and within the countryside. However, this did not lead to income polarization since low-income groups only had a slower income growth compared with highincome groups. The number of poor people continuously reduced thanks to rapid economic growth. Over the past decade, the widening of income gaps has been initially curbed. Accordingly, we explained the impact of economic transition on income distribution from the perspectives of market-based distribution, ownership structure, opening-up and internal income distribution. Lastly, this paper provides an in-depth analysis on urban-rural income gaps, excessive compensation in monopolistic sectors and income inequalities arising from corruption. To address these problems, it is important to enhance tax regulation, increase transfer payments to poor people, improve social security, equalize public services, enhance poverty relief and develop a fairer income distribution system.展开更多

Spatial and temporal distribution features oi air temperature (TA), soil temperature (Ts), relative humidity (h) and soil water content (ψ) were measured in Castanopsis kawakamii natural forest gaps created by a severe typhoon or fallen dead trees. The results showed that: (1) the variations of TA, h, and Tsin four seasons were extremely significant. The variations of ψ in four seasons were extremely significant except for those between spring and summer. (a) The diurnal variations of TA and Tswere expressed with a single peak curve. The diurnal variations of h and ψ presented a high-low-high trend (3) The variations of TA, h, and Ts were extremely significant among the large, medium and small gaps in C. kawakamii natural forest. Medium gaps had the highest TA and the lowest h while small gaps were jusl contrary to medium gaps. The variations of T were extremely significant for large, medium and small gaps except those between the medium and large gaps (4) The TA, h, Ts and ψ were decreased from the gap center, canopy gap, expanded gap to understory. These results will help further our understanding of the abiotic and consequent biotic responses to gaps in the mid-subtropical broadleaved forests, which also provide a theoretical basis for the scientific management and population restoration of C. kawakamii natural forest.展开更多

Because the WBC existed different current states with respect to different wind stress control parameters, we chose three steady WBC states (loop current, eddy shedding and leaping) as the background flow field and simulated the path transition of the WBC due to mesoscale eddies. Our simulations indicated that either an anticyclonic or cyclonic eddy can lead to path transition of the WBC with different modes. The simulation results also show that the mesoscale eddies can lead to path transition of the WBC from loop and eddy shedding state to leaping state because of the hysteresis effect. The leaping state is relatively stable compared with the mesoscale eddies. Moreover, an anticyclonic eddy is more effective in producing the WBC path transition for the path transition than a cyclonic eddy. Our results may help to explain some phenomena observed regarding the path transition of the Kuroshio due to the mesoscale eddies at the Luzon Strait.展开更多

Colorectal adenoma was classified according to size, number, and location. BAs were calculated using the MEDIAGETM Biological Age Measurement System.RESULTS A total of 2696 subjects were investigated(1876 men and 820 women). The mean chronological age(CA) was 46.0 years and the mean BA was 44.7 years. Metabolic syndrome(MS) was diagnosed in 218 subjects(8.1%). The prevalence of overall colorectal adenoma was 23.1%(622/2,696). When the subjects were divided into four groups based on BA(≤ 39 years; 40-49 years; 50-59 years; ≥ 60 years), the prevalence of colorectal adenoma was increased as BA increased(P < 0.001). Colorectal adenoma located in the proximal colon was more prevalent in the BA-dominant group(BA-CA ≥ 5years) than the CA-dominant group(CA-BA ≥ 5 years)(P = 0.034). When the subjects were categorized into four groups according to MS and age gap between BA and CA, the incidence of colorectal adenoma increased with MS and BA-dominance(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION Measurement of BA may help to assess the risk of colorectal adenoma in screening colonoscopy.展开更多

Based on the self-developed US Policy Assessment Model, this paper systematically evaluates the three potential "major deficits" in terms of mitigation, climate finance, and global climate governance, as a result of the US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and puts forward policy suggestions for coping with such transformations accordingly. The study shows that the United States 'withdrawal from the Paris Agreement will affect the existence and implementation of successive climate policies and result in an additional 8.8-13.4% increase in the global emissions reduction deficit. The United States' withdrawal will also deteriorate the existing climate finance mechanism. The Green Climate Fund (GCF)'s funding gap will increase by USS2 billion, while the gap of long-term climate finance will increase by about USS5 billion a year. Either the China-EU or the "BASIC plus" mechanism could fill the governance deficit caused by the United States and the lack of political momentum may continue for a while in the future.展开更多

Such disparities are uncontrolled and are severely negative symptoms in the process of economic development. On the basis of system dynamics(SD) modeling and the relationship between industrial relocation and regional economic growth, we construct a model of the interrelationship between the two aforementioned phenomena. The model is an effective and creative exploration for examining effects of industrial relocation on Chinese regional economic growth disparities. The SD model is employed in this study to build an inter-regional labor migration SD model, an inter-regional capital migration SD model, an intra-industry SD model, an intra-regional population SD model, and an intra-regional SD model which are based on realities in labor and capital flow from the view of industrial relocation. VENSIM software is utilized to perform a system simulation based on the data of the eastern, middle, and western regions from 2000 to 2010. Results show that industrial relocation gradually narrows the relative disparity in GDP among the three regions. Moreover, the absolute one is enlarged continuously. The absolute and relative disparities in per capita GDP among eastern, middle, and western regions generally exhibit decreasing trends.展开更多

Recently some methods of exploratory spatial data analysis such as spatial autocorrelation have provided effective tools to analyze spatial agglomeration and cluster, which can reveal the pattern of regional inequality. This article attempts to use spatial autocorrelation at county level to get refined spatial pattern of regional disparity in Chinese northeast economic region over 2000-2006 (2001 absent). The result indicates that the basic trend of regional economy is an increasing concentration of growth among counties in northeast economic region, and there are two geographical clusters of poorer counties including the counties in western Liaoning Province and adjacent counties in Inner Mongolia, poorer counties of Heihe, Qiqihar and Suihua in Heilongjiang Province. This article also reveals that we can use the methods of exploratory spatial data analysis as the supplementary analysis methods in regional economic analysis.展开更多
