METHODS: In total, 199 oral squamous-cell carcinoma (SCC), 317 esophagea! SCC, 196 gastric cardia and non-cardia adenocarcinoma and 240 colon adenocarcinoma patients were recruited for serum tests of Hpylori infection. Two hospital- and one community-based control groups were used for the comparisons. Hpylori seropositivity was determined by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay method against Hpylori IgG. RESULTS: Presence of H pylori infection was significantly inversely associated with esophageal SCC [adjusted odds ratio (AOR): 0.315-0.472, all P-value 〈 0.05] but positively associated with gastric adenocarcinoma (both cardia and non-cardia) (AOR: 1.636-3.060, all P-value 〈 0.05) in comparison to the three control groups. Similar results were not found in cancers of the oral cavity and colon. CONCLUSION: Our findings support the finding that H pylori seropositivity is inversely associated with esophageal SCC risk, but increases the risk of gastric cardia adenocarcinoma.展开更多

METHODS:The population of patients consisted of subjects in whom H pylori infection had been successfully treated in the past.Patients were divided into two groups:Ⅰ-examined group(111 persons with H pylori re-infection)andⅡ-control group(175 persons who had not been re-infected).The respondents were interviewed retrospectively on their dietary habits and socio-economic factors. RESULTS:A statistically significant lower frequency of fermented dairy products(P<0.0001),vegetables (P=0.02),and fruit(P=0.008)consumption was noted among patients with H pylori re-infection as compared to those who had not been re-infected. CONCLUSION:High dietary intake of probiotic bacteria, mainly Lactobacillus, and antioxidants, mainly vitamin C(contained in fruit and vegetables),might decrease the risk of H pylori re-infection.展开更多

The clustered and visualized document co-citation network of the humor processing knowledge domain was analyzed in terms of common topics and content of co-cited references. Emerging trends of humor processing were detected through reference citation bursts. The combined dataset of 816 bibliographic records and 42,687 references was compiled through a basic topic search. In order to ensure adequate coverage of the field, the search was expanded to include literature that referenced literature found in the initial basic topic search. Results produced a document co-citation network of humor processing with ten clusters, which showed that social cognition and fMRI study both served as important foundations for work in this knowledge domain. Personality studies in humor processing as well as research about the right hemisphere's role in humor processing also received considerable attention. These key areas of study accounted for 4 clusters. The remaining six clusters included studies on sexual selection, figurative language, prejudice, facial expression, sleep deprivation and infant humor perception associated with the knowledge domain. In this study, burst detection in references revealed topics of high interest to researchers as well as emerging trends in humor processing research.展开更多
