With this method, the volume of surface runoff can be reduced and flood problems in major cities can be eliminated. The study areas of Sungai Kedah ungauged catchment are located at the northern region of Malaysia. The Kota Setar sub-catchment is located at the downstream of Sungai Kedah with the newly completed development of control barrage at the upper Kota Setar. This paper will describe the analyses of the infiltration curves at Kota Setar. The resulting infiltration maps have developed based on the infiltration capacities.展开更多
This paper examines the origin,compilation,and circulation of A Barefoot Doctor’s Manual(Chijiao yisheng shouce赤脚医生手册),exploring the relationship between medical politics and knowledge transmission in China,and...This paper examines the origin,compilation,and circulation of A Barefoot Doctor’s Manual(Chijiao yisheng shouce赤脚医生手册),exploring the relationship between medical politics and knowledge transmission in China,and its impact on the promotion of Chinese medicine across the world.Barefoot doctors were a special group of rural medical practitioners active in a very special socio-political context.Various editions of barefoot doctor manuals and textbooks were published across China after the first publication of the Manual in 1969.The publication of these manuals and textbooks became an indelible hallmark of the“Cultural Revolution”(1966–1976),when political publications predominated.The Manual was not only a guide for barefoot doctors in their daily study and practice,but also a primary source of medical knowledge for ordinary people.In the middle of the 1970s,the Manual was translated into many languages and published worldwide.This paper argues that the publication of A Barefoot Doctor’s Manual embodied a public-oriented mode of knowledge transmission that emerged and was adopted during a very specific era,and though it was eventually substituted by a mode of training embedded in the formal medical education system,it demonstrated the impact of politics on medicine and health in the context of resource scarcity and low literacy.Changes in China’s geopolitical status,the West’s pursuit of alternative approaches to medicine and health,and the World Health Organization’s(WHO’s)concern over health universality and equity all contributed to the translation and circulation of the Manual,facilitating the dissemination of Chinese medicine worldwide.The paper thus presents empirical and theoretical contributions to research on the relationship between medical politics and knowledge transmission in China.展开更多

Objective The purpose of this study was to compare remote magnetic catheter navigation with manual navigation for the ablation of atrioventricular nodal reentry tachycardia (AVNRT). Methods From November 2007 to Nov...Objective The purpose of this study was to compare remote magnetic catheter navigation with manual navigation for the ablation of atrioventricular nodal reentry tachycardia (AVNRT). Methods From November 2007 to November 2009, 30 consecutive patients with AVNRT received radiofrequency ablation in the Institute of Geriatric Cardiology. Of them, 14 were treated with remote magnetic navigation (RMN) and 16 with manual catheter navigation (MCN). Total fluoroscopic time,procedure time, procedural success rate, and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results Total fluoroscopy time and precise orientation time were reduced in RMN group compared to MCN group (7.5+0.3 min vs 13.9~5.3 rain, and 1.0-x-0.3 min vs 3.2:~0.6 min, respectively, both P〈0.05). Procedural success rates in both groups were 100% and no AVNRT recurred in all patients during 3 months' follow-up. The number of lesions delivered was less for RMN group (3.4~1.1 vs 6.3+2.2, P〈0.05). Total procedure time (25.6~7.5 rain vs 27.5a:6.2 rain,/〉〉0.05) was similar between the 2 groups. No procedural complications occurred in both groups. Conclusions RMN for mapping and ablation of AVNRT significantly reduce precise orientation time, total fluoroscopy time and number of lesions delivered compared to the conventional technique of manual steering of deflectable catheters. Potential stormwater p...Stormwater quality design manuals lack scientifically creditable bases for many novel LID (Low-Impact Development) designs presently proposed to meet stormwater runoff management requirements. Potential stormwater pollutant adsorption and infiltration enhancement capabilities of forest-derived by-products (e.g. woodchips, bio-char) provide an opportunity to combine these readily availability materials into stormwater quality designs. On-site stormwater runoff treatment through determination of the soil-water transport and lead (Pb) retention capacity of two sandy soils from Oregon is considered. Using synthetic stormwater (-120 mg CI/L and -5 mg Pb/L) displacement tests in pairs ofABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) soil columns (75 mm dia by 0.46 m tall) with upward flow (to minimize air entrapment) saturated hydraulic conductivity, chloride dispersion and Pb retention by plain and amended soils is evaluated. Generally, soil amendment incorporation (woodchips, compost or biochar) as compared to an amendment layer resulted in improved hydraulic conductivities as compared to that of the soil alone. Chloride breakthrough curves verified that resident soil-water displacement occurred with 0.9 to 1.6 pore volumes and residence times for most columns were 15-30 minutes. No synthetic stormwater Pb "breakthrough" within the displaced or replaced soil-water was found, rather most Pb was adsorbed within the first 150 mm of soil.展开更多

In this study, two of the intersections in Konya were inve...Signalized intersections are widely used in today's cities where the traffic flows from various directions and the pedestrians have right to pass one by one. In this study, two of the intersections in Konya were investigated, Kule and Nalgacl-Sille signalized intersections. The intersections are important in terms of urban traffic. New cycle times were proposed with the aim to minimize delays and to increase the capacities and level of services in these intersections. The intersections were examined using Sidra Intersection 5.1 software based on the Australian methods. Also, signalization calculations can be made according to the American HCM (Highway Capacity Manual) methods by using the same software. The intersection analyses were performed using both methods based on the current cycle times and optimum cycle times proposed by the methods. The obtained analytical results were compared and some solutions were suggested. After analysis, the obtained values using the Australian and American methods were observed to be close. Additionally, the decrease in the delays and the increase in the capacities at the intersections were generally observed as a result of the proposed cycle times.展开更多

In this paper, combined with previous teaching experience and the development of a large number of networked multimedia, a preliminary study carried out on the interactive network multimedia education platform design patterns, the overall structure and system solutions. As the study is only a tentative teaching experiment based on the collaborative teaching mode, necessary improvement and modification are needed in other teaching practice. According to the curriculum characteristics and teaching situation of computer professional English, propose some teaching innovation scheme in terms of teaching contents and teaching methods, and combine computer professional English with computer professional courses to strengthen student application ability and improve teaching quality effectively.展开更多
Based on 11004 satellite images from CBERS CCD and Landsat TM/ETM,changes in the spatial characteristics of all lakes in China were determined following pre-established interpretation rules.This dataset was supported ...Based on 11004 satellite images from CBERS CCD and Landsat TM/ETM,changes in the spatial characteristics of all lakes in China were determined following pre-established interpretation rules.This dataset was supported by 6843 digital raster images(1:100000 and 1:50000),a countrywide digital vector dataset(1:250000),and historical literature.Comparative data were corrected for seasonal variations using precipitation data.There are presently 2693 natural lakes in China with an area greater than 1.0 km2,excluding reservoirs.These lakes are distributed in 28 provinces,autonomous regions and municipalities and have a total area of 81414.6 km2,accounting for-0.9% of China's total land area.In the past 30 years,the number of newly formed and newly discovered lakes with an area greater than 1.0 km2 is 60 and 131,respectively.Conversely,243 lakes have disappeared in this time period.展开更多
