The Cu/Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu(SAC305)/Cu solder joints were used, with a certain current density of 0.76×104A/cm^2 at 100, 140, 160 and 180 °C. The constitutive equations of cathode Cu pad consumption and anode interface IMC growth are established, respectively, based on the loading time and sample temperature. The cathode Cu pad consumption(δ) increases linearly with the loading time and the consumption rate shows parabolic curve relationships with sample temperature. The anode interface IMC thickness(δ1) increased is linearly with the square root of loading time and the interface IMC growth coefficient shows parabolic curve relationship with sample temperature. The δ and δ1 have different variation laws under current stressing, due to the current facilitating larger amount of IMC formation in the bulk solder.展开更多

The effects of operating parameters including rotor speed and continuous and dispersed phase velocities on the volumetric overall mass transfer coefficients are investigated. The results show that the mass transfer performance is strongly dependent on agitation rate and interfacial tension, but only slightly dependent on phase flow rates. In this study, effective diffusivity is used instead of molecular diffusivity in the Grober equation for estimation of dispersed phase overall mass transfer coefficient. The enhancement factor is determined experimentally and there from an empirical expression is derived for prediction of the enhancement factor as a function of Reynolds number. The predicted results compared to the experimental data show that the proposed correlation can efficiently predict the overall mass transfer coefficients in asymmetric rotating disk contactors.展开更多

Parameters including Sauter mean diameter, hold-up and mass transfer coefficient are measured experimentally un-der different operating conditions. The correlations in literature for molecular diffusion and enhancement factor equation including eddy diffusion, circulation and oscillation of drops are evaluated. A new equation for the effec-tive diffusion coefficient as a function of Reynolds number is proposed. The calculated values of mass transfer co-efficient and column height from the previous equations and present equation are compared with the experimental data. The results from the present equation are in very good agreement with the experimental results, which may be used in designing RDC columns.展开更多

The input data for the siLmulations were obtained from the sandstone along the AIborz tunnel that is currently being excavated in Iran using a 5.2 m diameter open TBM. Three joint spacings, 150, 200, and 300 mm, were modeled together with seven values of joint orientation; 0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, and 90°. The results show that the penetration increases when joint orientation increases from 0° to 75°, but it decreases as the joint orientation increases further from 75° to 90°. This is true for each joint spacing. In addition, for a given joint orientation increasing the joint spacing causes the TBM penetration to decrease. The optimum joint orientation, from the viewpoint of TBM penetration, is about 60-75°.展开更多

In the present research, aluminum disks are utilized and ethanol is employed for liquid. Scattering phenomena of the droplets are captured by the high-speed digital camera. Frequency distribution of the droplet diameter is evaluated from these images and distributions of horizontal flying velocity and angle of the droplets were measured by PTV. Liquid filaments are stretched outward from the stagnant liquid layer by centrifugal force and skew complicatedly by aerodynamic force. Some peaks appear in the distribution of the scattered droplet diameter and they are origi- nated from large terminal droplets and small droplets generated from filamentwise breakup. Most of the scattered droplets fly slightly inside in the tangential direction of the disk edge. The droplets spun off from the thin disk scatter widely compared with that from the thick one.展开更多
