Instead of mining the complete set of frequent patterns, the new model only finds out the maximal frequent patterns, which can generate all frequent patterns. FP-growth algorithm is one of the most efficient frequent-pattern mining methods published so far. However, because FP-tree and conditional FP-trees must be two-way traversable, a great deal memory is needed in process of mining. This paper proposes an efficient algorithm Unid_FP-Max for mining maximal frequent patterns based on unidirectional FP-tree. Because of generation method of unidirectional FP-tree and conditional unidirectional FP-trees, the algorithm reduces the space consumption to the fullest extent. With the development of two techniques: single path pruning and header table pruning which can cut down many conditional unidirectional FP-trees generated recursively in mining process, Unid_FP-Max further lowers the expense of time and space.展开更多

The results show that the software can manage intelligently all aspects of the quality analysis and test of ascorbic acid products, uploading timely the data and results of the analysis and inspection to the network and saving it for users, enterprises and quality management, which set up a network of information sharing platform to ensure the authenticity and reliability of measurement results, improving greatly the speed of data processing, saving valuable time, reducing production costs with good economic efficiency and social benefit. It has practical value for ascorbic acid quality analysis test data processing automatically the results of the implementation of intelligent management.展开更多

The nor...This study applied a computerized parametric methodology to monitor, map, and quantify land degradation by salinization risk detection techniques at a 1:250 000 mapping scale using geo-information technology. The northern part of the Shaanxi province in China was taken as a case. Multi-temporal remotely sensed materials of both Landsat TM and thematic maps (ETM+) were used as the bases to provide comprehensive views of surface conditions such as vegetation cover and salinization detection. With ERDAS ver. 9.1 software, the Normalized Differential Salinity Index (NDSl) and Salinity Index (S.I.) were computed and then evaluated for land degradation by salinization. Arc/Info ver. 9.2 software was used along with field observation data (GPS) for analysis. Using spatial analysis methods, results showed that 19 973.1 km^2 (72%) of land had no risk of land degradation by salinization, 3 684.7 km^2 (13%) had slight land degradation by salinization risk, 2 797.9 km^2 (10%) had moderate land degradation by salinization risk, and 1 218.9 km^2 (4%) of the total land area was at a high risk of land degradation by salinization. The study area, in general, is exposed to a high risk of soil salinization.展开更多

Due to structural complexity of XML, there ...Storing and querying XML (eXtensible Markup Language) data in relational form can exploit various services offered by modern relational database management systems (RDBMSs). Due to structural complexity of XML, there are many equivalent relational mapping schemes for the same XML data and queries. In this paper, we propose the adaptive XML to relational mapping (AX2RM) system, which considers finding optimal XML to relational (X2R) mapping as four separate but correlated procedures: logical database design, data scale estimation, workload transformation, and physical database design. We view the whole process as an autonomic computing problem and formalize the adaptive X2R mapping problem. Search spaces for each procedure are investigated individually, and five approaches for finding the optimal mapping are studied. We propose an integrated approach with greedy pruning (IT-GP), which views the mapping procedures as a whole and exploits heuristic rules in each procedure to prune impossible mappings as early as possible. Evaluation of these approaches shows the validity and high efficiency of IT-GP.展开更多

In the last two decades of the 20th century, there has been an increasing interest in and emphasis on the study of the Hong Kong literature in both the academic and general public in Hong Kong. Recognizing the emergen...In the last two decades of the 20th century, there has been an increasing interest in and emphasis on the study of the Hong Kong literature in both the academic and general public in Hong Kong. Recognizing the emergent need of the resources on Hong Kong literature, the University Library System of the Chinese University of Hong Kong set up the Hong Kong Literature Database (the “Database”), which was the first Chinese literature database in the Internet in 2000. The paper will examine how the database is constructed using XML technology andometadata schema, The database also employs Unicode UTF-8 as the internal code. A mapping table for traditional and simplified Chinese characters was created based on Unihan and is used behind the scene so that a user can either input traditional or simplified Chinese characters and retrieval will give both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. Currently 65% of journals use OCR technology so that full-text searching is possible. The Chinese OCR technology will be examined in greater detail. Special features of the Database such as, page-by-page browse mode, position-highlight for full-page newspaper, linking Table-Of-Contents and book jackets from the Library catalogue, etc. are described. The paper will also bring out the problem of massive downloading and compare the state-of-the-art technology and their shortcomings. This paper shows how the Hong Kong Literature Database facilitates future collaboration and data exchange by using open standard, shareable structure and the latest technology.展开更多
