Recently a new clustering algorithm called 'affinity propagation' (AP) has been proposed, which efficiently clustered sparsely related data by passing messages between data points. However, we want to cluster ...Recently a new clustering algorithm called 'affinity propagation' (AP) has been proposed, which efficiently clustered sparsely related data by passing messages between data points. However, we want to cluster large scale data where the similarities are not sparse in many cases. This paper presents two variants of AP for grouping large scale data with a dense similarity matrix. The local approach is partition affinity propagation (PAP) and the global method is landmark affinity propagation (LAP). PAP passes messages in the subsets of data first and then merges them as the number of initial step of iterations; it can effectively reduce the number of iterations of clustering. LAP passes messages between the landmark data points first and then clusters non-landmark data points; it is a large global approximation method to speed up clustering. Experiments are conducted on many datasets, such as random data points, manifold subspaces, images of faces and Chinese calligraphy, and the results demonstrate that the two ap-proaches are feasible and practicable.展开更多
The elastic differential equations of load-transfer of single pile either with applied loads on pile-top or only under the soil swelling were established,respectively,based on the theory of pile-soil interaction and t...The elastic differential equations of load-transfer of single pile either with applied loads on pile-top or only under the soil swelling were established,respectively,based on the theory of pile-soil interaction and the shear-deformation method.The derivation of analytic solution to load-transfer for single pile in expansive soil could hereby be obtained by means of superposition principle under expansive soils swelling.The comparison of two engineering examples was made to prove the credibility of the suggested method.The analyzed results show that this analytic solution can achieve high precision with few parameters required,indicating its' simplicity and practicability in engineering application.The employed method can contribute to determining the greatest tension along pile shaft resulting from expansive soils swelling and provide reliable bases for engineering design.The method can be employed to obtain various distributive curves of axial force,settlements and skin friction along the pile shaft with the changes of active depth,vertical movements of the surface and loads of pile-top.展开更多

This is accomplished by reviewing the impact that the introduction of automation technology has made through the longwall shearer automation research program of Longwall Automation Steering Committee(LASC). This result has been achieved through close integration of sensing, processing, and control technologies into the longwall mining process. Key to the success of the automation solution has been the development of new sensing methods to accurately measure the location of longwall equipment and the spatial configuration of coal seam geology. The relevance of system interoperability and open communications standards for facilitating effective automation is also discussed. Importantly, the insights gained through the longwall automation development process are now leading to new technology transfer activity to benefit other underground mining processes.展开更多

Decentralized and unstructured peer-to-peer applications such as Gnutella are attractive because they require no centralized directories and no precise control over network topology or data placement. Search algorithm...Decentralized and unstructured peer-to-peer applications such as Gnutella are attractive because they require no centralized directories and no precise control over network topology or data placement. Search algorithm is the major component of the distributed system and its efficiency also does influence the systems performance. However the flooding-based query algorithm used in Gnutella produces huge traffic and does not scale well. Gnutella-like P2P topology has power-law characteristic, so a search algorithm was proposed based on high degree nodes of power-law network, High Degree Nodes-Based Search (HDNBS). Extensive simulation results show that this algorithm performs on power-law networks very well, achieves almost 100% success rates, produces O(logN) messages per query and can locate target file within O(lagN) hops.展开更多

However it can only be used in the concatenate code scheme because the detection result of cyclic redundancy check code (CRC) is exploited to provide reliable information. In this paper, a different way is proposed to provide reliable information for C-VA, which is possible to be used in simple codec. Known bits were added to the set partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) coded image sequence periodically and directly. They were thought to be reliable information for C-VA in the decoder. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can obtain much better error resilient ability compared with conventional VA under the extremely inferior channel condition if the best desired quality of reconstructed images can be sacrificed.展开更多

Since only monochrome(ZnS∶Mn) electroluminescence(EL) displays of suitable size and speed are available, lack of colors has to be replaced by grayscale in the first place. There are two basic driving methods to achieve grayscale in thin-film EL displays: pulse amplitude modulation(PAM) method and pulse width modulation(PWM) method. But there are serious disadvantages of the two traditional methods. For the former method, the high voltage PAM ICs are too expensive to produce the grayscale EL display in bulks and the driver integrated circuit(IC) is complex. Though the PWM method has good grayscale display quality, the hardware implementation is too complex. A new driving method with which the width and the amplitude of the pulse can be modulated and simultaneously the challenge can be solved efficaciously is presented.展开更多

Based on an electrical resistance tomography(ERT) sensor and the data mining technology,a new voidage measurement method is proposed for air-water two-phase flow.The data mining technology used in this work is a least...Based on an electrical resistance tomography(ERT) sensor and the data mining technology,a new voidage measurement method is proposed for air-water two-phase flow.The data mining technology used in this work is a least squares support vector machine(LS-SVM) algorithm together with the feature extraction method,and three feature extraction methods are tested:principal component analysis(PCA),partial least squares(PLS) and independent component analysis(ICA).In the practical voidage measurement process,the flow pattern is firstly identified directly from the conductance values obtained by the ERT sensor.Then,the appropriate voidage measurement model is selected according to the flow pattern identification result.Finally,the voidage is calculated.Experimental results show that the proposed method can measure the voidage effectively,and the measurement accuracy and speed are satisfactory.Compared with the conventional voidage measurement methods based on ERT,the proposed method doesn't need any image reconstruction process,so it has the advantage of good real-time performance.Due to the introduction of flow pattern identification,the influence of flow pattern on the voidage measurement is overcome.Besides,it is demonstrated that the LS-SVM method with PLS feature extraction presents the best measurement performance among the tested methods.展开更多

The detection system is designed to achieve a tunnel section of the structural safety testing and deformation that may occur timely disaster warning, the safe operation of the subway tunnel to provide effective protection.

文摘Highly accurate observations at various scales on the land surface are urgently needed for the studies of many areas,such as hydrology,meteorology,and agriculture.With the rapid development of remote sensing techniques,remote sensing has had the capacity of monitoring many factors of the Earth's land surface.Especially,the space-borne microwave remote sensing systems have been widely used in the quantitative monitoring of global snow,soil moisture,and vegetation parameters with their all-weather,all-time observation capabilities and their sensitivities to the characteristics of land surface factors.Based on the electromagnetic theories and microwave radiative transfer equations,researchers have achieved great successes in the microwave remote sensing studies for different sensors in recent years.This article has systematically reviewed the progresses on five research areas including microwave theoretical modeling,microwave inversion on soil moisture,snow,vegetation and land surface temperatures.Through the further enrichment of remote sensing datasets and the development of remote sensing theories and inversion techniques,remote sensing including microwave remote sensing will play a more important role in the studies and applications of the Earth systems.
