We conduct a theoretical study on the properties of a bound polaron in a quantum well under an electric field using linear combination operator and unitary transformation methods, which are valid in the whole range of electron-LO phonon coupling. The changing relations between the ground-state energy of the bound polaron in the quantum well and the Coulomb bound potential, the electric field strength, and the well width are derived. The numerical results show that the ground-state energy increases with the increase of the electric field strength and the Coulomb bound potential and decreases as the well width increases. 展开更多

The influence of the electric field on the properties of the bound magnetopolaron in an infinite-depth GaAs semiconductor quantum well is investigated using the linear-combination operator and the unitary transformation method. The relationships between the polaron's ground state energy and the Coulomb bound potential, electric field, magnetic field, and well-width are derived and discussed. Our numerical results show that the absolute value of the polaron's ground state energy increases as the electric field and the Coulomb bound potential increase, and decreases as the well-width and the magnetic field strength increase. When the well-width is small,the quantum size effect is significant. 展开更多

Objective To search novel genes or pathways involved in the recovery process after restraint stress in rats. Methods We compared the hypothalamus transcriptional profiles of two different recovery patterns (fast recovery vs slow recovery) from restraint stress in rats using oligonucleotide microarray, the recovery pattern was determined by the decrement of plasma adrenocorticotropic-hormone (ACTH) and corticosterone levels during one hour recovery period after stress. A real-time quantitative RT-PCR was applied to validate the differential expressed genes. Results Analysis of the microarray data showed that most of genes were not differentially expressed between fast recovery group and slow recovery group. Among the differentially expressed genes we found that talin, together with serine/threonine protein phosphatase PPl-beta catalytic subunit (PP-1B) and integrin α-6 precursor (VLA-6) genes, were at least 1.5 fold upregulated in the fast recovery group, while junctional adhesion molecule 1 (F11r) was 1.5 fold down-regulated in the fast recovery group. Conclusion The results implied that integrin signaling pathway may be involved in the recovery from restraint stress in rats. The present study provided a global overview of hypothalamus transcriptional profiles during the process of recovery from the restraint stress in rats. The integrin signaling pathway seems to be involved in the recovery process, which deserves further study to clarify the integrin-mediated recovery mechanism after restraint stress. 展开更多

The binding energy and the photon energy dependence of the photoionization cross-section are calculated for a hydrogenic impurity in GaAs/Ga 1-xAl xAs quantum well wires.The correlation between confined and non-confined direction of the wire in the variational wave function is taken into account.The results show that the photoionization cross-sections are affected by the width of the wire and that their magnitudes are larger than those in infinite potential quantum well wires.In comparison with previous's results,the variational wave function improves the binding energy and decreases the value of photoionization cross-sections of the hydrogenic impurities,which makes the results more reasonable. 展开更多

The numerical results for the binding energies of the bound polaron and longitudinal-optical phonon contributions in GaAs/Al0.3 Ga0.7 AS parabolic quantum well structures are obtained as functions of the well width. It is shown that the binding energies of the bound polaron are obviously reduced by the electron-phonon interaction and the phonon contribution is observable and cannot be neglected. 展开更多

The ground state energy of the bound polaron is derived by using a linear combination operator and the perturbation method. The influence of the interaction between phonons with different wave vectors in the recoil process on the ground state energy of the bound polaron is discussed. Numerical calculations are performed,and the results show that the ground state energy increases significantly as the effective confinement length of the quantum dot decreases,considering of the interaction between phonons. When l0〉1.0, the influence of the interaction between phonons on the ground state energy cannot be ignored. 展开更多

AIM:To investigate the mechanism of gastric mucosal demage induced by water immersion restraint stress(WRS) and its prevention by growth hormone releasing peptide-6(GHRP-6).METHODS:Male Wistar rats were subjected to conscious or unconscious(anesthetized) WRS,simple restraint(SR),free swimming(FS),non-water fluid immersion,immersion without water contact,or rats were placed in a cage surrounded by sand.To explore the sensitivity structures that influence the stress reaction besides skin stimuli,a group the rats had their eyes occluded.Cervical bilateral trunk vagotomy or atropine injection was performed in some rats to assess the parasympathetic role in mucosal damage.Gastric mucosal lesions,acid output and heart rate variability were measured.Plasma renin,endothelin-1 and thromboxane B2 and gastric heat shock protein 70 were also assayed.GHRP-6 was injected [intraperitoneal(IP) or intracerebroventricular(ICV)] 2 h before the onset of stress to observe its potential prevention of the mucosal lesion.RESULTS:WRS for 6 h induced serious gastric mucosal lesion [lesion area,WRS 81.8 ± 6.4 mm 2 vs normal control 0.0 ± 0.0 mm 2,P < 0.01],decreased the heart rate,and increased the heart rate variability and gastric acid secretion,suggesting an increase in vagal nervecarrying stimuli.The mucosal injury was inversely correlated with water temperature(lesion area,WRS at 35 ℃ 56.4 ± 5.2 mm 2 vs WRS at 23 ℃ 81.8 ± 6.4 mm 2,P < 0.01) and was consciousness-dependent.The injury could not be prevented by eye occlusion,but could be prevented by avoiding contact of the rat body with the water by dressing it in an impermeable plastic suit.When water was replaced by vegetable oil or liquid paraffin,there were gastric lesions in the same grade of water immersion.When rat were placed in a cage surrounded by sand,there were no gastric lesions.All these data point to a remarkable importance of cutenuous information transmitted to the high neural center that by vagal nerves reaching the gastric mucosa.FS alone also induced serious gastric injury,but SR could not induce gastric injury.Bilateral vagotomy or atropine prevented the WRS-induced mucosal lesion,indicating that increased outflow from the vagal center is a decisive factor in WRS-induced gastric injury.The mucosal lesions were prevented by prior injection of GHRP-6 via IP did,but not via ICV,suggesting that the protection is peripheral,although a sudden injection is not equivalent to a physiological release and uptake,which eventually may affect the vagal center.CONCLUSION:From the central nervous system,vagal nerves carry the cutaneous stimuli brought about by the immersion restraint,an experimental model for inducing acute gastric erosions.GHRP-6 prevents the occurrence of these lesions. 展开更多

The curve of the total energy versus the internuclear distance R for this structure has been calculated by the method of a modified arrangement channel quantum mechanics. The result shows that the curve has a minimal -7.81373 a. u at R = 1.55 a(0). The binding energy of He-3(+) with respect to He+He++He was calculated to be 0.1064 a.u. (about 2.89 eV). This means that the He-3(+) cluster may be formed in the equilateral triangle structure stably by the interaction of He+ with two helium atoms. 展开更多

Objective To investigate the ameliorating effect of ginsenoside Rg1 on the depression-like behaviors induced by chronic restraint stress(CRS)in rats and the underlying mechanisms.Methods Forty male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups according to their baseline sucrose preference:control group,model group,and Rg1-treated groups(5 and 10 mg/kg).Except for control group,the groups were exposed to CRS(6 h/day)for 28 days.All drugs were intraperitoneally administered once daily to CRS rats after restraint stress for 14 days.The behavioral tests were carried out via the open field test(OFT),sucrose preference test(SPT),forced swim test(FST),and the Morris water maze(MWM)4 weeks following CRS induction.The levels of serum corticosterone(CORT)and the activities of the antioxidant defense biomarkers(SOD,MDA and GSH-x)in the prefrontal cortex(PFC)were analyzed using commercial ELISA kits.The levels of the neurotransmitter(5-HT,5-HIAA,Ach,NE,GABA and Glu)in the PFC were measured by ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.The protein expression of BDNF,Trkb,Bax and Bcl-2 in the PFC was detected by western blotting.Results Owing to increased sucrose consumption in the SPT,decreased immobility time in the FST,and the improved cognitive performance in MWM,chronic treatment with Ginsenoside Rg1 was found to significantly attenuate depressionlike behaviors(anhedonia,behavioral despair and poor spatial memory)in rats.Moreover,CRS exposure caused evident alterations in the levels of the neurotransmitters(5-HT,5-HIAA,Ach,GABA and Glu)and the activities of the antioxidant defense biomarkers(SOD,MDA and GSH-x)in the PFC and the levels of corticosterone in serum.However,Ginsenoside Rg1 treatment could restore these levels to normal values.Additionally,Ginsenoside Rg1 treatment significantly reverted the decreased expression of BDNF,Trkb and Bcl-2 and the increased expression of Bax in the PFC of CRS rats.Conclusions Ginsenoside Rg1 could attenuate the CRS-induced depression-like behaviors,in part,by regulating neurotransmitter levels and HPA function,antagonizing oxidative stress and apoptosis,and restoring BDNF-TrkB signaling in PFC.Altogether,our results provide a novel basis regarding the potential therapeutic effects of Rg1 on depression. 展开更多

A novel method was developed to establish a realistic three dimensional(3D) network model representing pore space in low permeability sandstone.Digital core of rock sample was established by the combination of micro-CT scanning and image processing,then 3D pore-throat network model was extracted from the digital core through analyzing pore space topology,calculating pore-throat parameters and simplifying the shapes of pores and throats.The good agreements between predicted and measured porosity and absolute permeability verified the validity of this new network model.Gas-water flow mechanism was studied by using pore-scale simulations,and the influence of pore structure parameters,including coordination number,aspect ratio and shape factor,on gas-water flow,was investigated.The present simulation results show that with the increment of coordination number,gas flow ability in network improves and the effect of invading water on blocking gas flow weakens.The smaller the aspect ratio is,the stronger the anisotropy of the network is,resulting in the increase of seepage resistance.It is found that the shape factor mainly affects the end points in relative permeability curves,and for a highly irregular pore or throat with a small shape factor,the irreducible water saturation(Swi) and residual gas saturation(Sgr) are relatively high. 展开更多

Objective To identify differentially expressed proteins in the hippocampus of rats after chronic immobilization stress(CIS)using a proteomics approach,and to study the effect of the Xiao Yao San(XYS)decoction on differentially expressed proteins.Methods Twenty-four Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to one of four groups of equal body weight:control(non-stress),7-day stress,21-day stress and21-day stress+XYS treatment groups.Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DE)was used to detect differences in protein expression in rat hippocampus.One differentially expressed protein was measured and verified by western blotting.Results Seventeen proteins showed differential expression.Among these,eight could be identified:glial fibrillary acidic protein-2(GFAP-2),tubulin alpha-1c,cytoplasmic muscle actin2,14-3-3protein,β-2a tubulin,phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein,synucleinαsyn3,and a low molecular weight(18kD)protein.Six of these proteins exhibited increased expression,one showed decreased expression,and the other protein,which comprised five subtypes,were either increased or decreased.These proteins are known to be involved in immunity,signal transduction,cell cycle control,apoptosis,regulation of enzyme activity,cytoskeleton structure,and synaptic plasticity.GFAP-2was further analyzed,and its differential expression confirmed by western blotting.Conclusion Some proteins are differentially expressed in the hippocampus of rats under chronic stress.The biological functions of these differentially expressed proteins are varied.Finally,the XYS decoction can significantly up-or down-regulate these protein expression levels. 展开更多

At present,in all the deliverability equation,the additional pressure drop caused by the threshold pressure gradient is viewed as constant,but this method has big error in the practical application. Based on the non-Darcy steady flow equation,the limited integral of the additional pressure drop is solved in this paper and it is realized that the additional pressure drop is not a constant but has something to do with production data,and a new deliverability equation is derived,with the relevant processing method for modified isochronal test data. We re-examine physical causal propagators for scalar and pseudoscalar bound states at finite temperature in a chiral NJL model, defined by four-point amputated functions subtracted through the gap equation, and prove that they are completely equivalent in the imaginary-time and real-time formalisms by separating carefully the imaginary part of the zero-temperature loop integral. It is shown that the same thermal transformation matrix of the matrix propagators for these bound states in the real-time formalism is precisely the one of the matrix propagator for an elementary scalar particle and this fact shows the similarity of thermodynamic property between a composite and elementary scalar particle. The retarded and advanced propagators for these bound states are also given explicitly from the imaginary-time formalism. 展开更多

We present a new six-dimensional potential energy surface for He-H2S including the intramolecular Q1,Q2,and Q3 normal modes for theν1 symmetric stretching,ν2 bending andν3 asymmetric stretching of H2S.The potential was calculated at the coupled-cluster singles and doubles with noniterative inclusion of connected triples[CCSD(T)]-F12a level with augmented correlation-consistent polarized-valence triple-zeta(aug-cc-p VTZ)basis set plus the midpoint bond function(3s3p2d1f1g).Three vibrationally averaged potentials with H2S at the vibrational ground stateν1 as well as the excited statesν2 andν3 were generated from the integration of the six-dimensional potential over the Q1,Q2 and Q3 coordinates.Each potential has a planar T-shaped global minimum,a planar local minimum,two inplane saddle points as well as an out-plane saddle point.The global minimum is located at R=3.46A,θ=109.9° andφ=0.0° with a well depth of 35.301 cm^-1.The radial discrete variable representation/angular finite basis representation method and the Lanczos algorithm were employed to calculate the rovibrational energy levels.The calculated band origins are blue-shifted(0.025 cm^-1 and 0.031 cm^-1)and(0.041 cm^-1 and 0.060 cm^-1)for He-(paraH2S)and He-(ortho-H2S)in theν2 andν3 region of the H2S molecule,respectively. 展开更多
