Specific energy absorption(SEA) was defined as the energy absorbed by the honeycomb structure per unit volume. This parameter was often used for determining the crashworthiness of thin-walled structures. In order to find the most optimized metal square honeycomb structure with the maximum SEA and the lowest peak stress, the cell length and the foil thickness of the metal honeycombs were optimized, with a low peak stress and a high SEA set as the two primary objectives. The pre-processing software Patran was used to build FE models, and the explicit solver LS-DYNA was employed to perform the crashworthiness analyses. The results show that the square honeycomb exhibits good energy absorption performance in some cases. The geometry is effective using 16.8% less buffer structure volume than the hexagonal honeycombs with a peak stress limitation of 1.21 MPa.展开更多

In order to reduce the computational complexity and the number of coefficients of Volterra series kernels, a Volterra series improved behavioral model based on Laguerre orthogonal polynomials function, namely Voherra-Laguerre behavioral model, is proposed. Mathematical expressions of Volterra-Laguerre behavioral model is derived, and accuracy of the model is verified through comparison of measured and simulation output data from a freescale PA using MRF21030 transistor. Mathematical analysis and simulation results show that Voherra-Laguerre behavioral model has a simple structure, much less coefficients and better modeling performance than general Volterra series model. The model can be used more correctly for system-level simulation of RF PA with wideband signal.展开更多

These conditions correspond to generalizedbarotropic instability and super speed instability. They are instabilities of vortex and gravity inertial waverespectively. In order to relate to practical situation, a barotropic vortex was analyzed, the basic flow of which issimilar to lower level basic wind field of tropical cyclones and the maximum wind radius of which is 500 km.The results show that generalized barotropic instability depending upon the radial gradient of relative vorticitycan appear in this vortex. It can be concluded that unstable vortex Rossby wave may appear in barotropic vortex.展开更多

The second is obtaining the sulfate distribution through chemical reaction and transfer of matters in regional climate models online coupled with an atmospheric chemistry model that includes full chemical reactions for sulfides. The third is to put sulfate distribution data from GCM and its coupled atmospheric chemistry model to regional climate model, which is so called off-line coupled method. As shown in comparisons between the online and offline modeling on the regional scale, the radiative climate effect of sulfate shows large uncertainty due to significant influence from various methods.展开更多

At the same time using the tree diagram propagators of gravitons, the lowest order (k^4) correction to (w) is also calculated through the graviton self-energy in the term. Under the accuracy condition up to order k^4, we have obtained a complete expression of the excitation contributed from the leading term (w^(2))of (w).展开更多

However, in the axial deformation mode, the force history has an extremely high peak force which may bring not only fatal injury to occupants but also damage to structures, cargo and environment. Aiming to develop energy absorbers with impact-force modificator, square metal tube with force modificator is investigated which can monitor the force-deformation history of the tube. A small device is designed to serve as an impact-force modificator, which introduces desired imperfections to the square tube just before the impact happens between the impactor and the tube, so as to reduce the peak force. Prototypes with various governing parameters were manufactured and tested both quasi-statically and dynamically to study the effects of these parameters on the characteristics of energy absorption. The results show that the force modificator can achieve the desired reduction of the peak force well whilst remaining the specific energy absorption capacity of the original square tube. With future improvements, it could be applied to vehicles or roadside safety hardware to mitigate the consequences produced by traffic accidents.展开更多
