In the present scenario, environmental writing becomes a social discourse. This is the result of a new, vibrant and growing environmental constituency in societies such as Brazil, India, Thailand and other Third World Countries. The features of environmental writing include a visible concern for social justice, defence of livelihood and the determining part played by women. This new discourse has emerged with a new focus on redefinition of terms like human rights, common good, democracy and CPRs (common property resources). Environmental Writing becomes a powerful discourse when it protests against the increasingly intrusive and interventionist developmental projects, implemented by the government, which in turn assert dominion over indigenous people of the land. There is also a strong emphasis on prudence among the poor as contrasted to the ecological profligacy of the rich. This paper is an attempt to examine the voices of dissent and the accountability of postmodern writers and environmental activists in India regarding environmental issues in India. 展开更多

Cosmopolitan democracy model is presented by David Held, beyond idealistic perspectives of left and right ideologies, mainly with a legal view, and found a global impact. As a prominent theorist in the field of democracy studies, David Held, by integrating the principle of autonomy in the model of constitutional democracy with the principle of participation in the model of participatory democracy, introduces a novel composition named "cosmopolitan democracy" that is a conception of democratic legal relations. Held is the first man who seeks to investigate democracy separated from the ideological models in relation to general human rights and identifies main areas of power in human life. He considers totally seven sets of rights necessarily enabling people to enjoy a free and equal participation in setting their communities. These rights include: right to health, welfare rights, cultural rights, civil rights, economic rights, political rights, and the right to enjoy a peaceful livelihood. Held's ultimate desire is to realize ideals of cosmopolitan democracy model in the global sphere, beyond the lessons of the West and the East. Through rethinking the theoretical and practical frameworks of this theory in today's world, the current paper seeks to study its role in reproducing democratic realism so that it would prepare the ground for the global consensus far from the ideal models. 展开更多

Globalization has many dimensions that it is interpreted as "communicational revolution" having incredible effects upon thought, behavior, and identity of today's human being. Based on this, the world is a stage for globalization and identity interactions. In such space, there are always conflicts among identity strata (individual, national, and global) and for conflicts prevention purposes, respect for the "other's" identity is considerable. Although admitting various nations' identity is one of the globalization identity notions challenges, but it doesn't mean that a dead end in this field. This research is focused on globalization effects and the subject of becoming far from national identity with rising of cosmopolitanism. We want to figure out: "What kind of relation is between national identity and cosmopolitanism identity in the globalization era?" This work's assumption is based on the relation between national identity and globalization identity in the stage of globalization and identity interactions; by admitting and respecting "other's" identity, we are able to prevent conflicts among identity strata. Thus, humans in their vast communications in globalization era for responding purposes, in face to face dialogs, need to implement general values common to all human beings. Through "global citizen" practices, while there exists differences, we can reach a shared view and become attended to our global responsibility. 展开更多

Inflated nationalism, extreme statism and a purely speculative form of expression were the three main components of the modem mainstream culture of the German nation. Only through a scientific critique of these three main components could a new philosophy develop. That is the cultural logic of Marx's philosophical revolution, which emerged and developed through a critique of historiography, socialism and political economy, rather than in an isolated framework of traditional philosophy. The cultural logic of Marx's philosophical revolution offers two lessons for us in developing Marxist philosophy in China. First, to fail to understand and study Marxism as a whole and conduct dialogue and interaction across all fields of Marxism would be a deviation from the cultural logic of Marx's philosophical revolution and the path of development of Marxist philosophy. Second, the core task of Marxist philosophical studies is the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy in China. This involves making methodological summaries of contemporary scientific findings and reflecting upon the most important issues of Chinese-style socialism, providing at the philosophical level and from the perspective of world history a scientific interpretation of the process, mechanisms, characteristics, patterns and trends of contemporary Chinese social development that will yield a guide for practice. 展开更多

The election of Donald Trump can be partially understood in the context of the rise of authoritarian populist, nationalist, and anti-globalist movements throughout the world. Unlike previous American presidents in the modern era, however, Donald Trump had no previous political experience and emerged from media culture and the business world, rather than the world of party politics. In this paper, I will focus on the assault on globalization in the Trump campaign, look at his administration and actions as president, and raise questions concerning whether or not he has betrayed his anti-globalist followers and is pursing business-as-usual for global, corporate capitalism---or something else. This investigation also leads us into engaging the Trump campaign/administration connections with Russia and the role of Russia and global computer networks in Election 2016, making Election 2016 the first US election deeply shaped by global political forces and the Interuet, new media, and social networking. 展开更多

This paper investigates Chinese cosmopolitanism advocated by Wang Yang-ming(1472-1529) , a famous Confucian philosopher, and its implications for contemporary global governance and China's soft-power build-up. It aims to provide a more inclusive perception of world order, and calls for a less nationalistic and hegemonic understanding of Confucianism in contemporary China's intellectual or ideological projections, which has been used to envision China's foreign policies recently. For the political use of the word " harmony" today seems similar to instrumentalization of Confucianism in history. I focus on his idea of "being one body with the cosmos" and its socio-political dimensions of the world as one family, and then bring them into dialogue with the recent Western theorizing of liberal cosmopolitanism -- an idea of world citizenship which bases global governance on a universally rational foundation. I argue that Wang bases his cosmopolitanism upon graded care and a particular sense of sympathy. It is a sort of moral sentiment of embodied oneness and a cosmic psyche in caring for Heaven, earth, and the myriad creatures like caring for one's own body. It also accommodates " integral pluralism" which urges one to sincerely and properly construe others' cultures and traditions without blindly embracing or rejecting them. Such cosmopolitanism is not an abstract love based on human rationality, but an allinclusive care with graded sympathy to others. 展开更多
