The various types of ET based on TEM as well as STEM were described in detail, which included bright-field(BF)-TEM tomography, dark-field(DF)-TEM tomography, weak-beam dark-field(WBDF)-TEM tomography, annular dark-field(ADF)-TEM tomography, energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy(EFTEM) tomography, high-angle annular dark-field(HAADF)-STEM tomography, ADF-STEM tomography, incoherent bright field(IBF)-STEM tomography, electron energy loss spectroscopy(EELS)-STEM tomography and X-ray energy dispersive spectrometry(XEDS)-STEM tomography, and so on. The optimized tilt series such as dual-axis tilt tomography, on-axis tilt tomography, conical tilt tomography and equally-sloped tomography(EST) were reported. The advanced reconstruction algorithms, such as discrete algebraic reconstruction technique(DART), compressed sensing(CS) algorithm and EST were overviewed. The feasibility of the system was explored using the thermodynamics analysis, the reaction mechanism and the experiment results. The optimal reaction was carried out to get higher HDU yield. The thermodynamic analysis showed that the metboxycarbonylation of HDA with MPC, the Gibbs free energy of which was negative, was a spontaneous process. Furthermore, the equilibrium constant of the methoxycarbonylation of HDA with MPC was much greater than that of the transesterification of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) with phenol, so the reaction coupling could be realized under mild conditions. The reaction mechanism analysis indicated that phenoxy anion was the key spedes for reaction coupling. Higher MPC concentration was detected when sodium phenoxide was used as transesterification reactant with DMC, since the phenoxy anion of sodium phenoxide could be dissociated more easily. Sodium pbenoxide was more suitable to prepare HHDU through reaction coupling. A yield of HDU as high as 98.3% could be reached under the optimal conditions of mPhONa/mDMC = 0.027 and nDMC/nHDa = 8/1 at 90 ℃ in 2 h.展开更多

For small and medium size enterprises, the paper evaluates the credit of developed model in studying the efficient factors in internet technology acceptance, which is one of the most applicable communication tools in e-commerce. The added factors, taken from models and means of e-readiness assessment, are "existing information technology infrastructures" as well as "organization's training". The authors study 45 small and medium size enterprises in the city of Tehran, which are active in information technology products and services. Using Lisrel structural equation modelling, it is shown that there is a meaningful relationship between the added factors and the variables indicating internet network usage. Therefore, the better factors of e-readiness assessment lead to the higher acceptance level of electronic communication tools in e-commerce.展开更多

The research progress in long period fiber gratings (LPFGs), distributed fiber sensing systems and microfiber sensors is introduced. For LPFGs, the processing method with high-frequency CO2 laser pulses types of LPFGs fabricated and the related applications for both optical sensing and optical communication are described. For distributed fiber sensing systems, the fiber-optic polarization optical time domain reflectometer (POTDR), fiber-optic phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometer (φ-OTDR) and Brillouin optical time-domain analyzer (BOTDA) are developed, respectively. For microfiber sensors, we mainly focus on the knot resonator and its application for sensing of the refractive index and acceleration, etc.展开更多

This paper explores the feasibility of magnetizing microorganism with thermal decomposition method. The principle of thermal decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl has been adopted to investigate the cells of Spirulina (a type of nature micro-helical microorganism) coated with pure iron. Further analysis have been conducted on the observations results of hollow micro-helical magnetic particles form, components and the phase structure obtained by using various tools including optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray detector (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). Results showed that Spirulina cells could be coated with iron particles after the completion of thermal decomposition process, with well-kept shape of natural helixes and consistent components of different sampling points on the surface layer and thickness of layer. After the heat treatment at 700°C, the type of the surface iron layer formed was α-Fe. The paper also investigates the kinetics of the cell magnetization technology by thermal decomposition.展开更多

First, we briefly summarize some of the considerations and the research journey that has led to our focus on bottom-up nanoscale science and technology. Second, we recapitulate the motivation for and our seminal contributions to nanowire- based nanoscience and technology, including the rational design and synthesis of increasingly complex nanowire structures, and the corresponding broad range of "applications" enabled by the capability to control structure, com- position and size from the atomic level upwards. Third, we describe in more detail nanowire-based electronic devices as revolutionary tools for brain science, including (i) motivation for nanoelectronics in brain science, (ii) demonstration of nanowire nanoelectronic arrays for high-spatial/high-temporal resolution extracellular recording, (iii) the development of fundamentally-new intracellular nanoelectronic devices that approach the sizes of single ion channels, (iv) the introduction and demonstration of a new paradigm for innervating cell networks with addressable nanoelectronic arrays in three-dimensions. Last, we conclude with a brief discussion of the exciting and potentially transformative advances expected to come from work at the nanoelectronics-brain interface.展开更多
