On similarity measures of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets and their application to pattern recognitions

The concept of the degree of similarity between interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets （IVIFSs） is introduced, and some distance measures between IVIFSs are defined based on the Hamming distance, the normalized Hamming distance, the weighted Hamming distance, the Euclidean distance, the normalized Euclidean distance, and the weighted Euclidean distance, etc. Then, by combining the Hausdorff metric with the Hamming distance, the Euclidean distance and their weighted versions, two other similarity measures between IVIFSs, i. e., the weighted Hamming distance based on the Hausdorff metric and the weighted Euclidean distance based on the Hausdorff metric, are defined, and then some of their properties are studied. Finally, based on these distance measures, some similarity measures between IVIFSs are defined, and the similarity measures are applied to pattern recognitions with interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy information.

Threat Assessment Method Based on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Similarity Measurement Reasoning with Orientation

The aim of this paper is to propose a threat assessment method based on intuitionistic fuzzy measurement reasoning with orientaion to deal with the shortcomings of the method proposed in [Ying-Jie Lei et al., Journal of Electronics and Information Technology 29(9)(2007)2077-2081] and [Dong-Feng Chen et al., Procedia Engineering 29(5)(2012)3302-3306] the ignorance of the influence of the intuitionistic index's orientation on the membership functions in the reasoning, which caused partial information loss in reasoning process. Therefore, we present a 3D expression of intuitionistic fuzzy similarity measurement, make an analysis of the constraints for intuitionistic fuzzy similarity measurement, and redefine the intuitionistic fuzzy similarity measurement. Moreover, in view of the threat assessment problem, we give the system variables of attribute function and assessment index, set up the reasoning system based on intuitionistic fuzzy similarity measurement with orientation, and design the reasoning rules, reasoning algorithms and fuzzy-resolving algorithms. Finally, through the threat assessment, some typical examples are cited to verify the validity and superiority of the method.

（∈γ, ∈γ Vqδ）-intuitionistic Fuzzy（Soft） Filter of BL-algebras

In the paper, in order to further study the properties of filters of BL-algebras, we propose the concepts of the （∈γ, ∈γ Vqδ）-intuitionistic fuzzy filters and （∈γ, ∈γ Vqδ）- intuitionistic fuzzy soft filters of BL-algebras and derive some related results. Finally, we discuss the properties of images and inverse images of （∈γ, ∈γ Vqδ）-intuitionistic fuzzy soft filters of BL-algebras.

Similarity measure on intuitionistic fuzzy sets

Study of fuzzy entropy and similarity measure on intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) was proposed and analyzed. Unlike fuzzy set, IFSs contain uncertainty named hesitance, which is contained in fuzzy membership function itself. Hence, designing fuzzy entropy is not easy because of many entropy definitions. By considering different fuzzy entropy definitions, fuzzy entropy on IFSs is designed and discussed. Similarity measure was also presented and its usefulness was verified to evaluate degree of similarity.

Functional activity of the rectum:A conduit organ or a storage organ or both?

AIM： To investigate whether the degree of rectal distension could define the rectum functions as a conduit METHODS： Response of the rectal and anal pressure to 2 types of rectal balloon distension, rapid voluminous and slow gradual distention, was recorded in 21 healthy volunteers （12 men, 9 women, age 41.7 ± 10.6 years）. The test was repeated with sphincteric squeeze on urgent sensation. RESULTS： Rapid voluminous rectal distension resulted in a significant rectal pressure increase （P 〈 0.001）, an anal pressure decline （P 〈 0.05） and balloon expulsion. The subjects felt urgent sensation but did not feel the 1^st rectal sensation. On urgent sensation, anal squeeze caused a significant rectal pressure decrease （P 〈 0.001） and urgency disappearance. Slow incremental rectal filling drew a rectometrogram with a ＂tone＂ limb representing a gradual rectal pressure increase during rectal filling, and an ＂evacuation limb＂ representing a sharp pressure increase during balloon expulsion. The curve recorded both the ist rectal sensation and the urgent sensation. CONCLUSION： The rectum has apparently two functions： transportation （conduit） and storage, both depending on the degree of rectal filling. If the fecal material received by the rectum is small, it is stored in the rectum until a big volume is reached that can affect a degree of rectal distension sufficient to initiate the defecation reflex. Large volume rectal distension evokes directly the rectoanal inhibitory reflex with a resulting defecation.

Vision testing method for diameter,roundness and hardness of table tennis ball

Under the premise of fully respecting current national standard of table tennis ball,this paper presents an integrated and effective method for testing diameter,roundness and hardness of table tennis ball based on vision measurement. Firstly,camera calibration is performed by 40 mm gauge block to capture the images of table tennis ball in static and pressed state in an appropriate lighting condition. Then image binarization and extraction of image contour are carried out. The least square method is used to fit its center. Finally,the diameter,roundness and hardness are calculated. The measurement data are analyzed by using the method presented in this paper for table tennis ball with known parameter data and with unknown parameter data. Experimental results show that this method can improve measurement accuracy and provide a technical basis for the online testing and integration measurement of table tennis ball.

On Some Properties of L Type Intuitionistic Fuzzy Family

Intuitionistic fuzzy set is an extended form of Zadeh's fuzzy set. In this paper, the concept of L type intuitionistic fuzzy family based on lattice implication algebras was proposed and some of its properties were discussed.

Similarity measure design on overlapped and non-overlapped data

Similarity measure design on non-overlapped data was carried out and compared with the case of overlapped data.Unconsistant feature of similarity on overlapped data to non-overlapped data was provided by example.By the artificial data illustration,it was proved that the conventional similarity measure was not proper to calculate the similarity measure of the non-overlapped case.To overcome the unbalance problem,similarity measure on non-overlapped data was obtained by considering neighbor information.Hence,different approaches to design similarity measure were proposed and proved by consideration of neighbor information.With the example of artificial data,similarity measure calculation was carried out.Similarity measure extension to intuitionistic fuzzy sets(IFSs)containing uncertainty named hesitance was also followed.

Conceptions of Intuition in Poincar6＇s Philosophy of Mathematics

The aim of this paper is to contribute to the identification and characterization of the various types of intuition put forward by Poincar6, taking his texts as a laboratory for looking for what intuition might be. I will stress that these diverse conceptions are mainly formulated in the context of Poincar6＇s controversies in opposition to logicism, to formalism, and in the context of Poincar6＇s very peculiar conventionalism. I will try to demonstrate that, in each case, Poincar~ comes close to a specific tradition （Kant, of course, but also Leibniz and Peirce）.

Phenomenal Consciousness, Self-Consciousness and Animal Suffering

In this article I will confront Antonio Damasio＇s theory （exposed in his last book Self Comes to Mind） with the criticism it received from Ned Block. The latter holds that Damasio does not distinguish the concepts of phenomenal consciousness and self-consciousness and this has two kinds of consequences. One is that it cannot satisfactorily explain certain mental states （dreams, vegetative states）; the other is that it has harmful consequences for animal ethics. I maintain that to compare the two theories we can only rely on our pre-theoretical intuition of consciousness. Thus, I argue that Dam^tsio＇s theory combines more with our intuitions. One of the reasons is that the cases that Block describes as phenomenal consciousness without access consciousness （and without self-consciousness） are best explained as being cases of mind without consciousness. Dam^sio＇s theory can also explain those referred cases which are theoretically problematic. Moreover, Dam^isio has a threshold model （an expression by Barry Dainton）, which is something that Block seems to ignore. This model fits well with the intuitions and neurological knowledge that we normally have on animal consciousness. Dam^isio＇s core self and his theory of emotions and feelings allow us to understand why we feel compassion for animals. Therefore, we are able to develop an animal ethics, which does not mean that we are required to do so. So even though Damasio does not solve the mystery of consciousness, he should not be the subject of Block＇s criticism.

Probing the Relationship Between Language Learners＇ Personality Traits and Their Preferences for Six Category Intervention Analysis： A Focus on Introversion-Extroversion and Sensing-Intuitive Traits

The present paper investigates the relationship between Iranian intermediate level EFL （English as a Foreign Language） learners＇ personality traits and their preferences for Heron＇s Six Category Intervention Analysis （SCIA）. There were 134 Iranian male and female learners participating in this study. A SCIA questionnaire containing 30 items was developed and validated to assess EFL learners＇ preferences for intervention categories. Moreover, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator （MBTI） was used in the research. Results indicated that whereas in some cases no significant differences were observed, there mostly existed numerous significant differences among language learners with different personality traits and their preferences for SCIA.

Financial Decision-Making： The Roles of Intuition, Heuristics, and Impulses

This paper will add to an evolving new paradigm for financial decision-making by exploring the important roles that intuition, heuristics, and impulses play as a bridge between how the conscious and unconscious can work together more effectively in making better decisions. Historically, the roles of financial/accounting theory and cognitive psychology have been extensively studied and documented in attempting to explain individual financial decision-making. More recently, neuroscience has made substantial contributions to learning how prospective financial decisions and outcomes affect brain activity and observed decision-making behavior. The evidence from neuroscience indicates that up to 90% of our decisions are initiated at the unconscious level, which is only beginning to be investigated in a systematic manner. Integrating these findings from multiple disciplines, including recent contributions from neuroscience, has many implications, not only with respect to personal and corporate financial decisions and how markets work, but also as an essential component in the tool box of the general decision maker.

On Constructing the Teaching Model of English Lexicology Based on Tasks and Network

The teaching model of English lexicology based on tasks and network starts by follow philosophy of intuitive thinking and using the task-based teaching method. The lexicon avails to accept new roots and make them mixed with existing roots by meaning relation or collocation to help students retrieve words effectively and enhance their ability of studying English vocabulary

Perspective and Subjectivity： The Power of Images in Northamerican Short-Story Writing

The study is meant to describe the evolution of American short-story writing with patterns where visual images have become central and not peripheral for the understanding of stories. Hemingway＇s use of objective correlatives was a trace mark, and the literary editors at The New Yorker urged their writers to slow down the emphasis on movement and plot in order to recreate a certain mood which would favour the perception of objects, anecdotes, and details. The impressionistic device works very much in the same way that an advertisement would do. It is meant to persuade the audience. The apparently non-commitant vision of reality shows in fact the author＇s point of view. The apparent simplicity is meant for a very wide audience and its deepest meaning suggests the scope of the particular visual aids working at the deepest level of consciousness

Clinico-pathological aspects of colorectal serrated adenomas

AIM： To study the association of colorectal serrated adenomas （SAs） with invasive carcinoma, local recurrence, synchronicity and metachronicity of lesions. METHODS： A total of 4536 polyps from 1096 patients over an eight-year period （1987-1995） were retrospectively examined. Adenomas showing at least 50% of serrated architecture were called SAs by three reviewing pathologists. RESULTS： Ninety-one （2%） of all polyps were called SAs, which were found in 46 patients. Invasive carcinomas were seen in 3 out of 46 （6.4%） patients, of whom one was a case of familial adenomatous polyposis （FAP）. A male preponderance was noted and features of a mild degree of dysplasia were seen in majority （n=75, 83%） of serrated adenomas. Follow-up ranged 1-12 years with a mean time of 5.75 years. Recurrences of SAs were seen in 3 （6.4%） cases, synchronous SAs in 16 （34.8%） cases and metachronous SAs in 9 （19.6%） cases. CONCLUSION： Invasive carcinoma arising in serrated adenoma is rare, accounting for 2 （4.3%） cases studied in this series.
