His first st...In order to find the exact location of Yu’s capital, Yangcheng, on the basis of the analyses and researches on historical records, Mr Xu Xusheng came in person to the four counties in western Henan 1959. His first stop is Yangcheng town of Yichuan, now is Gaocheng town of Dengfeng county. At about one Km west to Gaocheng town, Bafang site has been found. The unearthed relics from the site are of the styles of Yangshao, Longshan and Donggangou site of Luoyang, which immediately aroused great attentions of academic circles. From 1997, archaeologists have done excavations on this site (now called Wangchenggang Site), and they have scored great successes. In addition, an ancient "Yangcheng City" lasting from the Spring and Autumn to the Han dynasty has been investigated and excavated at the northeastern part of the town. Many important relics have been found, including pottery Dous (豆 ) (stemmed vessels) of the warring States, bearing the stamps with charactors of "Yangcheng Barn Article" (阳城仓器), which provide a powerful circumstantial evidence for the views that Gaocheng town is Yu’s capital, Yangcheng. Moreover, the author expounds and proves that Wangchenggang site is Yu’s capital, Yangcheng from different angles and puts forward an arguement with the article Puyang Is Yu’s Capital Yangcheng.
