This paper aims to analyze the propensity toward university enrolment in the Messina area, by means of appropriate statistical methods. In particular, we compared the students of different secondary school institutes in Messina, with reference to the choice of the future university career and other information about the scholastic profit and the scholastic context. Our comparative analysis has been performed through a non-parametric approach, using the Non Parametric Combination (NPC) test based on permutation test. Students often face difficulties while taking basic programming courses due to several factors. In response, research has presented subjective assessments for diagnosing learning problems to improve the teaching of programming in higher education. In this paper, the authors propose an Object Oriented conceptual map model and organize this approach into three levels: constructing a Concept Effect Propagation Table, constructing Test Item-Concept Relationships and diagnosing Student Learning Problems with Matrix Composition. The authors' work is a modification of the approaches of Chert and Bai as well as Chu et al., as the authors use statistical methods, rather than fuzzy sets, for the authors' analysis. This paper includes a statistical summary, which has been tested on a small sample of students in King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, illustrating the learning problems in an Object Oriented course. With this, university faculty, master's degree students and administrators can make appropriate strategies to become globally competitive and responsive to the sustainability mantra. A successful innovation has been developed, and found to be relevant and achievable. The key ingredient of this innovation is to utilize statistics as a platform of ESD fused with Multiple intelligences (MI), Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTs) and latest technology. Moreover, this paper used a descriptive-correlation design, which identified the difficulties encountered by the master's degree students in making their innovations; then determined the relationship between the attitudes of students toward e-portfolio and their level of fusing ESD in statistics relative to: MI, HOTs and latest technology. Multiple regression analysis was utilized to predict its relationships. This innovation is highly appropriate for multidisciplinary, international students. It connects ESD principles with practice as it enables university's effort to contribute to ESD. Research findings show that there are a number of factors affecting the income of Khmer households, including the career of householders, the level of education, the ratio of dependants, living experience of the householders, the land square area, people's participation in different festivals; the number of household members, the number of activities for income and the gender of the householders. Of all the factors, occupation, level of education, and the ratio of dependants are considered to have the biggest influence on the income of Khmer ethnic people in Tra Vinh province. 展开更多

Five hundred (500) first graders of the city of Durres are chosen. Parents and teachers will be part of the study only after taking the consent from RIE (Regional Institute of Education). The completed surveys from the parents will create us an idea of the situation how they experience this and what their expectations regarding their children are. Surveillance will be another important method that will be used to give the conclusion of this study. Children will be watched during spontaneous and one-hour made situations. Statistical data from the two groups of children and parents tests will help us prove how visible the positive effects of attending the preschool education on the performance children show during first grade are. At the end of the study, it will be asked to prove that the attendance of preschool education in specialized institutions has positive effects on the development children show in the first grade in the two targets which we have chosen to study. 展开更多

Youth are increasingly inclined to seek information using the new media such as mobile news. Nevertheless, the massive information flows have caused difficulties in finding quality, relevance and credibility of information. Hence, this study was undertaken to identify the problems encountered by the youth when searching for information through mobile news; to recognize the motivational factors in searching information through mobile news; and to find out the acceptance factor in searching information through mobile news. The underlying theory in this research is using Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI). Employing a quantitative approach, a total of 400 respondents from higher learning institutes were selected to be the respondents of this study. The data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21.0. Results of the study show that the problems faced when seeking information through mobile news is information disorder. Further, motivational factors that encourage information seeking through mobile news by youth are related to advantage and observability. At the same time, seeking information through mobile news is accepted by the youth due to their perceived ease of use. In conclusion, it is hoped that the mobile news could be one of the leading learning medium among the youth in the future. 展开更多

Furthermore, the absence and improper evaluation of English tests, coupled with poor educational systems in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean lead to very low achievement in English. Based on the review, the paper recommends the use of accommodation, culture-specific designed tests, and more research as remedy for the problems. Recommendations for Using Wiki in Online Group Projects in Engineering Education

Although Web 2.0 tools like blogs and wikis have been used for supporting collaborative learning in higher education, there are not many reports about implementation of that resource on engineering in Brazil. In this way, the main purpose of this research is to use a wiki platform for online activities and evaluate how students collaborate with each other in online tasks. It was investigated how collaboration can be measured on wiki platform During four-week online activities, 40 students of Civil Engineering course were monitored on Wikispaces~ platform. All students' actions were analyzed and classified as low, medium, or high level of collaboration. The data were collected through the statistical reports of Wikispaces~ and Google Analytics platforms. It computed 336 students' actions: 16.67% as high level, 45.24% as medium, and 38.10% as low. During informal interview, most of students (70%) related that wiki was a nice tool for collaboration work. The results indicated that wiki platform is an important way to develop innovative activities and tasks for the purpose of improving engineers' abilities and skills such as: writing communication, organization, collaboration, and critical thinking development. 展开更多
