The numerical cases are conducted w...This paper presents 3D (three-dimensional) CFD (computational fluid dynamic) simulation to analyse the FIR (flow-induced response) especially the yaw motion of a buoyancy can. The numerical cases are conducted with a buoyancy can under different reduced velocities utilizing our in-house code naoe-FOAM-SJTU, a solver based on the open source toolkit OpenFOAM. SST-DDES (shear-stress transport-delayed detached-eddy simulation) model is applied to handle the flowseparation and overset grid method is utilized to solve a large amplitude 6-DOF (6 degrees of freedom) motions. Free decay test and VIM (vortex-induced motion) test are built numerically. In VIM cases, the responses of trajectory, amplitude, frequency are calculated in a series of reduced velocities. With the increase of reduced velocity, yaw frequency is increased, which is similar to surge and sway frequency. And yaw frequency is equal to the sway frequency, which is consistent with experimental results. Furthermore, comparing two cases, one fixed in rotation and the other one free in rotation, it can be concluded that release in the degree of rotation can decrease the sway amplitude but make no difference in the surge amplitude.展开更多
When shovels load the dump trucks with over 100-ton passes under gravity dumping conditions, they will create a large impact force on the dump truck body which generates high frequency shock waves which expose the ope...When shovels load the dump trucks with over 100-ton passes under gravity dumping conditions, they will create a large impact force on the dump truck body which generates high frequency shock waves which expose the operators to whole body vibrations (WBV). The main cause of such truck vibrations is the large impact force due to the gravity dumping of large tonnage passes. Therefore a rigorous mathematical model has been developed for the impact force containing all the necessary factors upon which it depends. Latter, a thorough analysis shows that percentage reduction of 7.19%, 9.40%, 13.27%, 14.8%, 17.30% and 18.13% can he achieved by reducing the dumping distance to 6.33 m, 6.0 m, 5.5 m, 5.33 m, 5.0 m and 4.9 m, respectively, as compared to when the dumping distance was 7.33 m. Even more reduction in the magnitude of impact force can he observed if the shovel pass gets divided into more than two sub-passes. Therefore, these models can he used to figure out the number of sub-passes into which a single ore pass can he divided and/or the extent to which the dumping distance can he reduced which would reduce the impact force significantly enough to obtain safer yet economic operations.展开更多

Response surface methodology and central composite rotatable design (CCRD) for K = 3 were used to investigate the combined effect of blanching time (0-1 min), processing time (10-30 min) and sodium metabisulphi...Response surface methodology and central composite rotatable design (CCRD) for K = 3 were used to investigate the combined effect of blanching time (0-1 min), processing time (10-30 min) and sodium metabisulphite (Na2S205) salt concentration (0%-2%) on vitamin C content, hardness (texture), microbial count and color intensity of green pepper (Capsicum sinensis) during canning. Blanching, processing time and sodium metabisulphite (Na2S205) salt concentration all had variable effects on the vitamin C, microbial quality and sensory characteristics of the canned green peppers. Significant (P 〈 0.05) interactions were noted between all the factors with high regression coefficients (78.7%-97.0%). Increasing processing time caused significant decreases in vitamin C and microbial load of the product. However, salt concentration had only marginal and insignificant effect on the vitamin C content of the canned product. Sensory evaluation on the product showed that both the pre-processing conditions and of blanching and salt concentrations, and the processing time had varied effects on the color and hardness of the products. Hardness of the canned products generally decreased with increasing processing time and blanching time, while only minimal and insignificant effects were noted with blanching time. Increasing blanching time caused significant increasing retention of the dark green color of the peppers with only slight but insignificant increases noted with processing time, while increases in salt concentration consistently reduced the dark green color of the products. The optimum pre-processing and processing conditions that yielded products with high preference and consumer-acceptability were: blanching time of 0 min, processing time of 10 min and sodium metabisulphite concentration of 0.2%.展开更多
Objective: To observe the efficacy of acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians plus moving cupping on neck and shoulder for migraine. Methods: A total of 64 migraine cases were randomly allocated into an observat...Objective: To observe the efficacy of acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians plus moving cupping on neck and shoulder for migraine. Methods: A total of 64 migraine cases were randomly allocated into an observation group and a control group, 32 cases in each group. Random number table method was used in allocation. Acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians and cupping on neck and shoulder were used for cases in the observation group, which contain acupuncture 5 times a week and cupping once a week. Oral flunarizine hydrochloride capsules were used for cases in the control group, 10 mg for each dose, 1 dose a day. 2 weeks constitutes a course of treatment. The patients were treated for two courses of treatment in both groups. After that, the changes of visual analogue scale (VAS) and the migraine disability assessment questionnaire (MIDAS) were observed, as well as the clinical efficacy. Results: The total effective rate and recovery and marked effective rate in the observation group were 93.8% and 71.0% respectively, versus 78.1% and 43.8% in the control group, showing statistical significant differences (both P〈O.05). There were significant decreases in VAS and MIDAS scores after treatments in both groups (both P〈O.05). VAS and MIDAS scores in the observation group were significantly different from those in the control group (both P〈0.05). Conclusion: Combining acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians and cupping on neck and shoulder can relieve headache and reduce influence of migraine on life. It can produce a better efficacy than oral flunarizine hydrochloride capsules in treating migraine patients.展开更多
Objective: To evaluate the outcome of total hip arthroplasty (THA) with cementless cups and femoral head autografts for patients with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. Methods: Between 1995 and 2002, we implanted 23 c...Objective: To evaluate the outcome of total hip arthroplasty (THA) with cementless cups and femoral head autografts for patients with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. Methods: Between 1995 and 2002, we implanted 23 cementless cups and femoral head autografts in 20 patients with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. In this study, a retrospective study was made on 21 hips in 20 patients (18 females and 2 males, aged 50 years on an average) with developmental hip dysplasia treated by THA with a cementless cup and femoral head autograft. The acetabular cup was placed at the level of the true acetabulum and all the patients required autogenous femoral head grafts due to acetabular deficiency. The average rate of the acetabular cup covered by the femoral head autograft was 31% (ranging from 10% to 45%). Eight hips had less than 25% cup coverage and thirteen between 25% and 50%. The average follow-up period was (4.7) years (range, 1-8 years). The replacing outcome was evaluated by modified Harris hip score. Preoperative and follow-up radiographs were made. Results: All the autografts were united to the host bones. No autograft was collapsed or no component from the hip was loosed in all the patients. According to the modified Harris hip score, the average hip score increased from 46 before operation to 89 at the final review. Before operation, the leg-length discrepancy was greater than 2 cm in all the patients except one with bilateral hip dysplasia. After operation, only 2 out of 20 patients had a leg-length discrepancy greater than 1 cm. Three hips showed minor bone resorption in the lateral portion of the graft, which did not support the cup. Three hips developed Grade 1 Brooker heterotopic ossification and one developed Grade 2. Conclusions: THA with a cementless cup and a femoral head autograft for patients with osteoarthritis resulted from hip dysplasia can result in favorable outcomes. This method can provide reliable acetabular fixation and restore the acetabular bone stock in patients with developmental hip dysplasia when the cementless cup covered by the graft does not exceed 50%.展开更多
2,9-Diamide-1,10-phenanthroline(DAPhen)ligands represent a new family of tetradentate extractants given their strong affinity to actinides and the CHON principle.Among this family,N,N′-diethyl-N,N′-ditolyl-2,9-diami...2,9-Diamide-1,10-phenanthroline(DAPhen)ligands represent a new family of tetradentate extractants given their strong affinity to actinides and the CHON principle.Among this family,N,N′-diethyl-N,N′-ditolyl-2,9-diamide-1,10-phenanthroline(Et-TolDAPhen),initially reported by us,exhibits excellent selectivity towards actinides(U,Th,Am,Pu)over lanthanides and thus can be potentially applied in the group actinide extraction(GANEX)process for the group separation of actinides.In this article,by tailoring the lengths of alkyl chains,we synthesized other four DAPhen ligands with different substitute groups in the diamide moieties,and characterized the relationship between properties and substitute groups of DAPhen ligand.The extraction results show that three of the ligands exhibit high performance in UO_2^(2+)extraction from an acidic solution and the extracted UO_2^(2+)can be easily stripped by only using ultrapure water.Spectrophotometry titration confirms that UO_2^(2+)combined with all the four ligands in 1:1 mode.The extended X-ray absorption finestructure(EXAFS)study shows that six donor atoms comprise the first equatorial shell of the UO_2^(2+)ions bonded by the DAPhen ligands,among which two nitrogen and two oxygen atoms are from the DAPhen ligand,while other two oxygen atoms are from one nitrate ions.This article promises to provide basic data for assessing the feasibility of this kind of DAPhen ligands applied in actinides separation from nuclear wastes.展开更多
