This paper first analyzes the benefits offered by the American Black Fraternities to the black college students in terms of improving academic achievement, cultivating leadership abilities, and enhancing social involv...This paper first analyzes the benefits offered by the American Black Fraternities to the black college students in terms of improving academic achievement, cultivating leadership abilities, and enhancing social involvement on campus. Based on the successful experience of the American Black Fraternities, this paper further explores solutions to the serious problems existing in the Fellow Townsmen Association in Chinese universities to make it the same valuable asset for the development of the members' personality and comprehensive quality. The Association should be leveled up to an official student society to solve many of its managerial problems, and set a group goal to direct its members to the right track of serious study and completely transform the form and the content of its activities to improve the social skills of its members.展开更多

The Republic of Armenia, as a world superpower in chess, is engaged in continuous development and implementation of specific strategic programmes which are aimed not only at providing high achievements in chess, but a...The Republic of Armenia, as a world superpower in chess, is engaged in continuous development and implementation of specific strategic programmes which are aimed not only at providing high achievements in chess, but also at: (1) modernizing the educational sphere in the Republic of Armenia; (2) increasing the quality indexes of chess education--as a basic resource in the context of global educational system; (3) considerably deepening education subjects' cognitive interests towards education through the possibilities provided by chess; (4) developing learners' educational-cognitive motivation; and (5) creating conditions for activating learners' mental potential and the abilities to expose them, as well as promoting the awareness of the social value of chess in interpersonal relations. The contextual factors of teaching and learning chess in primary schools of Republic of Armenia have been revealed and presented in this paper. A number of conclusions and recommendations for policy makers are considerably made based on analysis of big research data.展开更多

Using an interview study, the author foc...The author examines the differentiation of self-identity, school treatment, and academic struggle between two Asian American students in U.S. Midwest urban school environments. Using an interview study, the author focuses on understanding the students' perspectives in relation to the label of model minority. The purpose of the study is to investigate how social, academic, and economic factors affect these students, including different outcomes in terms of school achievement and self-identity formation. The findings aim to help urban educators approach complex factors regarding minority students' educational opportunities. Comprehensive results identified that: (1) The concept of model minority significantly affects Asian American students at all levels of daily life; (2) Urban schools continue reinforcing social reproduction and producing perceptions based on socioeconomic background and intersectional discrimination; (3) The evidence in the study shows that school environments do not aid students in valuing their cultural capital; (4) Students from different social classes present different linguistic and behavioral patterns; and (5) Social stratification significantly influences students' perspectives in response to the Asian stereotype, self-identity, and racial hierarchy in school and society.展开更多
