Their structures were established on the basis of spectral analyses as n-butyl pyroglutamate (1), nonadecyl alcohol(2), eicosanol(3), behenic acid(4), b-sitosterol(5), stigmasterol(6), glycerol 1-monocerotate(7), pyrocatechol(8), p-ethoxybenzoic acid(9), p-coumarinic acid(10), protocatechuric acid(11), ursolic acid(12), betulinic acid(13), fumaric acid(14), succinic acid(15), uracil(16), xanthine(17), quercetin(18), kaempferol (19), isorham-netin(20), adenosine(21), daucosterol(22), stigmasterol 3-O-b-D-glucopyranoside(23), quercetin 3-O-b-D-glucopyra-noside(24), kaempferol 3-O-b-D-glucopyranoside(25), rutin(26), and kaempferol 3-O-b-rutinoside(27). In the present study, we investigated the changes of photosynthesis, chlorophyll fluorescence and the content of carotenoid pigments in rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedling leaves and their responses to high light. The results showed that the rate of photosynthesis, the contents of individual and total carotenoids and the pool size of xanthophyll cycle decreased with age increasing of the leaf. When the leaves were exposed to high light for 2 h, the qN of mature leaf (5th leaf) increased more significantly than that of younger (6th leaf) and older leaves (3rd and 4th leaf). Comparing with the leaves before exposure to high light, the excitation pressure on PSⅡ (1- qP ) increased by 44%, 57%, 19% and 45% in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th leaf under high light, respectively. The highest content of carotenoids and the greatest conversion of violaxanthin to zeaxanthin were found in the 5th leaf, and it was consistent with the 5th leaf exhibiting the strongest resistance to high light. Our results suggested that the ability of rice leaf to resist photoinhibition is related to the level of carotenoids and the ability of carotenoids biosynthesis. 展开更多

[Objective]The aim of this study was to investigate whether communication signal C6-HSL among individual bacteria can influence plant growth and disease resistance ability. [Method]With potato virus-free plantlets as the test materials and C6-HSL as the inducer,the potato's growth and the ability of resistance against Erwinia carotovora subp carotovora were tested after being treated by C6-HSL with different concentrations. The effects of C6-HSL on plant landmark defense enzyme activities and H2O2 content in potato leaves were measured especially. [Result]C6-HSL with different concentrations could obviously inhibit the growth rate of root and the number of roots,but had no effect on plant height,number of nodes and leaf size. POD or SOD activity and H2O2 content in plant landmark defense enzymes significantly increased after induction of C6-HSL,but PAL and PPO activity had no obvious change. In the resistant test,potato plants induced by C6-HSL could inhibit the infection of Erwinia carotovora subp carotovora effectively,and its incidence was significantly lower than the control group. [Conclusion]Bacteria AHL can be possibly used as a new kind of plant disease-resistant activator. 展开更多

ObjectiveThe study aimed to explore the factors regulating carotenoid accumulation in flesh color. MethodA loquat mutation (red-or orange-fleshed plant emerged a bud mutation of white-flesh in trunk) was used as material; HPLC analysis of β-carotene content was conducted. ResultThe β-carotene concentration in the flesh of wild and mutant types was 60.9 and 4.6 μg/g fresh weight, respectively. According to the conserved regions of genes from rose family genome, carotenogenic gene fragments in wild and mutant types were obtained. No nucleotide variation of the carotenogenic gene fragments was observed between wild and mutant genome. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Q-PCR) was compared and one carotenogenic gene, β-ring hydroxylase (HYB) were considerably suppressed in mature mutant loquat fruits compared with that in wild. The other six carotenogenic genes were also expressed but the expression patterns appeared to be not correlated with the amount of β-carotene concentration in wild loquat flesh. ConclusionThe mutant whitish loquat lacks the ability to synthesize β-carotene because of the transcriptional down-regulation of carotenogenic gene HYB. 展开更多

A total of 31 wheat varieties(lines) released in different years in Huanghuai Area were selected as materials so as to study the carotenoids content,lipoxygenase activity, and some other quality traits of wholemeal. Results showed that carotenoid content and other quality traits had highly significant differences among varieties. Carotenoids content was significantly positive correlated with watersoluble pentosan and yellowness. Carotenoids content was significantly negative correlated with peak viscosity, hold through, breakdown, final viscosity, unit weight,formation time, and was negative correlated with peak time, protein content and stability time. According to cluster analysis, carotenoid contents in 31 varieties were divided into three major groups: one group had common carotenoid content, which included 19 varieties such as Meng 0318; one group had relatively low carotenoid content, which included 10 varieties such as Luomai23; and the last group had relatively high carotenoid content, which included 2 varieties such as Huaimai22. The average carotenoid contents of the three groups were 1.93, 1.07 and 2.99 mg/kg respectively. 展开更多
