A control algorithm for improving vehicle handling was proposed by applying right angle to the steering wheel,based on the nonlinear adaptive optimal control(NAOC).A nonlinear 4-DOF model was initially developed,then ...A control algorithm for improving vehicle handling was proposed by applying right angle to the steering wheel,based on the nonlinear adaptive optimal control(NAOC).A nonlinear 4-DOF model was initially developed,then it was simplified to a 2-DOF model with reasonable assumptions to design observer and optimal controllers.Then a simplified model was developed for steering system.The numerical simulations were carried out using vehicle parameters for standard maneuvers in dry and wet road conditions.Moreover,the hardware in the loop method was implemented to prove the controller ability in realistic conditions.Simulation results obviously show the effectiveness of NAOC on vehicle handling and reveal that the proposed controller can significantly improve vehicle handling during severe maneuvers.展开更多
Cotton is one of the most important crops throughout the history of India and it also plays an important role in social and economic aspects of the Indian society in the present age. Recent technological advances and ...Cotton is one of the most important crops throughout the history of India and it also plays an important role in social and economic aspects of the Indian society in the present age. Recent technological advances and trade liberalization have made India a major player in international cotton markets. In the year 2011-2012, India was the world＇s second largest producer, consumer and exporter of cotton. The increasing role of the Indian cotton sector in international markets is a direct challenge to other major players like the US. Within this context, a better understanding of the Indian cotton sector and the impact of mechanization on cotton cultivation are needed. The overall objective of this paper is to assess the competitiveness of Indian cotton producers and potential implications for India as a competitor in the world cotton market if it mechanizes harvesting of cotton. The results demonstrate that the net income of the Indian cotton farmers will increase considerably with the mechanization of cotton harvesting. But the adoption of the practice of harvesting cotton by mechanical means is possible only if efforts from many private and public agencies come together. In that scenario, the cotton production in India can increase considerably which can impact the international markets.展开更多

To what extent has the socialist state intervention in markets been altered along with Chin...Building a regulatory regime over its industry challenges the Chinese state in the process of moving towards a modem economy. To what extent has the socialist state intervention in markets been altered along with China＇s integration into the global economy？ Roselyn Hsueh examines China＇s regulatory regime of FDI through the comparison of two industries, telecommunication and textiles and finds an interesting mode of global economic integration that distinguishes China from both the liberal economic model and the East Asian developmental state model. The conclusion is that, even though China has introduced commitments made to the WTO and has liberalized FDI, it only appears to be a more liberal state in that the government has ＂selectively imposed new regulations at the sectoral level, asserting and even tightening control over industry and market development.＂ She further explores the political implication of this bifurcated strategy--＂liberal- ization two-step＂--and argues that introduction of economic competition and tol- erance of private economies and market ideas and norms do not necessarily lead to political change towards a democratic one.展开更多

Based on data drawn from a thirteen-city public opinion survey in 2008, this study indicates that a majority of the surveyed respondents, especially those in urban China, had positive attitudes toward liberal internationalism, economic internationalism, and nationalism. Meanwhile, this study concludes that continued economic development and the resulting expansion of higher education have produced two contradictory trends.展开更多
