However, the digital revolution has also radically influenced the conservation processes surrounding art, including archiving, preserving, and remembering. This paper explores the conservation of digital (or "variable media") artworks for the future benefit of culture, with particular reference to creators and viewers of art, as well as participants in interactive artworks. More specifically, this paper focuses on the philosophical and technical approaches adopted by creators, conservators, and philosophers involved in the preservation of variable media artworks. Issues of programming, interoperability between archival systems, and enhanced public access increasingly inform the design of digital archives. Indeed, the continuously shifting technological landscape-marked by the centrality of digital technologies to everyday life-problematizes the preservation of digital art through mainstream museological paradigms. Part of this analysis of digital art conservation will be drawn from the archival philosophies of Boris Groys and Rick Prelinger.展开更多

In order to advance this idea, the author has acquired skills in investigation and expresses her thinking through a descriptive and explanatory visual language. The author's learning journey, while not unique, has not been an ordinary one. Initial academic failure to achieve in the school education system contributed to her choosing a life working on the land and harbouring the belief that she was unable to learn academically. Still, the author has gained a rich base of physical knowledge and experience through the traditional oral route including learning interpersonal communication through body language and vocal tonality. The author has used this intuitive knowledge to develop an arts practice where she explores the bio-cultural links between people and the lands they inhabit, creating works that aim to extend knowing through emphasising the experience and atmosphere of landscape. At this time, when our lives have become increasingly encoded and intellectually based, the author shares a belief with American philosopher Eugene Gendlin (b. 1926) that the "felt sense" can be developed in order to enable us to engage more fully with the world around us. The author explores this idea in her visual art but also realizes the need to express it in writing, both in order to reach a wider public and because of the possibilities offered by the written word to make public which is private and held deep within.展开更多

Today, the digital art has been extensively applied in all sorts of social areas and relevant industries such as animation, design, film and television production, games, advertising, multimedia design, and network. The artistic creations such as Helan Mountain Rock Painting, Xixia cultural patterns and ethnic patterns, in which Ningxia visual elements were taken as design themes, are diversified in forms and rich in contents, and also have been extensively applied. However, because of the application of the digital technology with powerful functions, the digital art has the ability to provide a wide creation space for national culture. Meanwhile, some special effects of the digital technology can also be applied in the creation of minority art.展开更多

As new media theorists have argued, one of the defining features of the digital arts is the break-down of divisions between art forms, and between art and society (for example, Manovich 2001, 2005). This paper outlines how digital processes intersect with aesthetic and conceptual forms. Relevant frameworks, such as materiality, embodiment, hybridity, interactivity, and narrativity, form the origins of the genre. Digital artworks, like digital media, are interactive, participatory, dynamic, and customizable, incorporating shifting data flows and real-time user inputs (Paul 2003, 67). The customization of content and technology, as well as the recontextualization of information, characterize projects of digital art.展开更多

We should rest on the good foundations of the demand pattern of 'Double art talent' and take advantage of the advanced special services of Art Design. We should persist in the principle of Artistic Innovation first. We should establish an optimal training scheme of 'photography creative talents' . A highly innovative photography subject system will train talents for 'Design of photography' . Also in Arezzo, in the church of San Francesco, the beautiful frescoes of Piero della Francesca's Legend of the True Cross were commissioned by his wife's ancestors, the Bacci family. This study discusses Vasari's two types of religious representation of Saint Francis. One type is devotional, as in the paintings of Holy Families, e.g., The Holy Family with Saint Francis of 1541, at the County Museum of Art of Los Angeles, CA. The other is historical, focusing on the miraculous moment of the stigmatization, e.g., Saint Francis Receiving the Stigmata, 1548, in the church of San Francesco in Rimini. Employing mannerist colors to express the spirituality of the event, Vasari created a new conception of piety, where sobriety and humbleness are honored. These paintings reveal the humanness and sanctity of the protagonist, Saint Francis, devoid of any heroic glamour.展开更多

Consciousness may be the most difficult question humans are trying to resolve. Yet eliciting transcendence, a phenomenon that rises above, or goes beyond, normal limits of consciousness, has been an identified goal for many artists in the past, possibly even in cave art. Drawing on works shown in the 2006 Art Gallery of Hamilton exposition called Sublime Embrace: Experiencing Consciousness in Contemporary Art and in the 2002 Houston Contemporary Art Museum 2002 show called THE INWARD EYE: Transcendence in Contemporary Art, the author will explore the biological, psychological, cultural, and spiritual facets of transcendence. Perhaps, with the renewed symbiotic relationship between the sciences and art, the convergence of digital media, and the emergence of global communication networks, we are at the verge of art that will create a change, an alteration in our consciousness, and an altercendent state. What this change will be is yet a mystery.展开更多

In the course of teaching design of art in colleges and universities, it is necessary to change the teaching mode in time to adapt to the new teaching development environment. In the era of digital development, we need to give full attention to the optimization of art design teaching in colleges and universities, and run new teaching techniques. This paper mainly analyzes the advantages and importance of the digital art design in colleges and universities, and then discusses the application of digital technology in the art design teaching and the concrete teaching optimiTatiun strategy in detail. Hoping to through this theoretical research, contribute to the improvement of the quality of art design teaching.展开更多

Along with the development of Chinese character information processing technology, the modem computer techology has been penetrated into every field of society, it has been very important in the field of the design to implement font design and application using the computer directly. In this paper, the application of Chinese calligraphy fonts to the modem design art is discussed from computer font design and the components of Chinese characters, development trend, and modem decoration design. Calligraphy font design will be applied to more design areas, and also will be penetrated into all aspects of people' s daily life.展开更多
