There is a one-to-one relationship between the corresponding subunits of...The COP9 signalosome and the regulatory lid of the 26S proteasome are both eight-subunit protein complexes which are present in most eukaryotes. There is a one-to-one relationship between the corresponding subunits of the two protein complexes in terms of their size and amino acid sequences. Eight groups of subunits from the COP9 signalosome and the proteasome lid complex of different organisms are collected from all the databases at the NCBI website. The corresponding subunits of COP9 signalosome and proteasome lid complex share at least 12% amino acid identity and some conserved regions, and the conserved sites spread evenly over the entire length of the subunits, suggesting that the two complexes have a common evolutionary ancestor. Phylogenetic analyses based on the amino acid sequences of the corresponding subunits of two protein complexes indicate that every tree consists of two clades. The subunits from one of the two protein complexes of different organisms are grouped into one of the two clades respectively. The sequences of single-cell organisms are always the basal groups to that of multi-cell animal and plant species. These results imply that the duplication/divergence events of COP9 signalosome and regulatory lid of the proteasome genes have occurred before the divergence of single-cell and multi-cell eukaryotes, and the genes of the two complexes are independently evolved. The analyses of dN/dS correlation show significant Pearson's correlations between 21 and 15 pairs of subunit-encoding sequences within the COP9 signalosome and the proteasome lid complex respectively, suggesting that those subunits pairs might have related functions and interacted with one another, and resulted in co-evolution.展开更多

METHODS: LSTs, defined as superficial elevated lesions greater than 10 mm in diameter with a low vertical axis, were macroscopically classified into two subtypes: (1) a granular type (Gr-LST) composed of superficially spread- ing aggregates of nodules forming a fiat-based lesion with a granulonodular and uneven surface; and (2) a non-granular type (NGr-LST) with a flat smooth surface and an absence of granulonodular formation. A total of 69 LSTs, comprising 36 Gr-LSTs and 33 NGr-LSTs, were immunohistochemically stained with MUC2, MUC5AC, MUC6, CD10 (markers of gastrointestinal cell lineage), p53, 13-catenin and Ki-67 antibodies, and examined for alteration in exon 1 of v-Ki-ras2 Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) and exon 15 of v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homologue B1 (BRAF) by poly- merase chain reaction followed by direct sequencing. RESULTS: Histologically, 15 Gr-LST samples were ad- enomas with low-grade dysplasia (LGD), 12 were high- grade dysplasia (HGD) and 9 were adenocarcinomas invading the submucosa (INV), while 12 NGr-LSTs demonstrated LGD, 14 HGD and 7 INV. In the proximal colon, MUC5AC expression was significantly higher in the Gr-type than the NGr-type. MUC6 was expressed only in NGr-LST. MUC2 or CD10 did not differ. P53 ex- pression demonstrated a significant stepwise increment in progression through LGD-HGD-INV with both types of LST. Nuclear β-catenin expression was significantly higher in the NGr-type. Ki-67 expression was signifi- cantly higher in the Gr-type in the lower one third zone of the tumor. In proximal, but not distal colon tumors, the incidence of KRAS provided mutation was signifi- cantly higher in the Gr-type harboring a specific muta- tional pattern (G12V). BRAF mutations (V600E) were detected only in two Gr-LSTs. CONCLUSION: The two subtypes of LST, especially in the proximal colon, have differing phenotypes of gastrointestinal cell lineage, proliferation and activa- tion of Wnt/β-catenin or RAS/RAF/extracellular signal- regulated kinase signaling.展开更多

Then the new method was used in the demodulation of the digital frequency modulation (FSK) signals. The new demodulation method can complete the demodulation of the FSK signals only with the carrier frequency and without any carrier phase information. The simulation results show that the performance of anti-noise of the new method is better than that of the incoherent demodulation method and the fluctuation of the carrier phase has little effect on the new method. IL-16 inhibits the CDS mediated lymphocyte activation and proliferation. The effects of IL-16 on the target cells are dependent on the cell type, the presence of co-activators etc. To understand the regulation function and mechanism of IL-16 on target cells, we used a 130 a.a. recombinant IL-16 to study its effects on the growth of Jurkat T leukemia cells in vitro. We found that the rIL-16 stimulated the proliferation of Jurkat cells at low dose (10-9M), but inhibited the growth of the cells at higher concentration (10-5M). Results showed that 10-5 M of rIL-16 treatment induced an enhanced apoptosis in Jurkat cells. The treatment blocked the expression of FasL, but up-regulated the c-myc and Bid expression in the cells. Pre-treatment of PKC inhibitor or MEK1 inhibitor markedly increased or decreased the rIL-16 induced growth-inhibiting effects on Jurkat cells, respectively. The results suggested that the rIL-16 might be a regulator for the growth or apoptosis of Jurkat cells at a dose-dependent manner. The growth-inhibiting effects of rIL-16 might be Fas/FasL independent, but, associated with the activation of PKC, up-regulated expression of c-Myc and Bid, and the participation of the ERK signal pathway in Jurkat cells.展开更多

The deadbands were respectively set up at the sensor to the controller and the controller to the actor sides in the WNCS, which were used to reduce data transmission, furthermore, to decrease the network collision and node energy consumption. Under the consideration of time-varying delays and signal transmission deadbands, the model for the WNCS was presented. A novel Lyapunov functional which took full advantages of the network factors was exploited. Meanwhile, new stability analysis and stabilization conditions for the WNCS were proposed, which described the relationship of the delay bounds, the transmission deadband bounds and the system stability. Two examples were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. The results show that the proposed approach can guarantee asymptotical stability of the system and reduce the data transmission effectively.展开更多

Such solution can be topical in the result of different telecom operators' optical networks convergence. In this case a necessity to transmit differently modulated signals over a single optical fiber even with different bit rates may occur. This research is performed with OptSim 5.2 simulation software that numerically solves nonlinear SchrOdinger equation. The authors have revealed the optimal parameter configuration for developed combined transmission systems and obtained in system's channels detected signals bit-error-rate (BER) correlation diagrams. They represent BER as a function from different system's parameters such as channel output power level, optical amplifier fixed output power level and system's channels allotment in C-band of ITU-T (Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunications Union) recommended spectral grid. As well as these obtained BER values were compared with the results for similar system, where instead of standard single mode fiber (according ITU-T Rec. Simultaneous dimming controlling and data transmission are usually required in a white LED based indoor visible light communication system.However,the diming controlling of LED normally interferes the data transmissio...Simultaneous dimming controlling and data transmission are usually required in a white LED based indoor visible light communication system.However,the diming controlling of LED normally interferes the data transmission due to the modulation nonlinearity of LED.In order to solve this problem,a scheme by separating the LEDs for the functions of dimming control and data transmission respectively is proposed in this paper.In the scheme,the LEDs used for dimming control function are driven by a dc amplified circuit,and the LEDs for data transmission are driven by a digital modulation circuit respectively.In this way,the modulation distortion to the data signal caused by the modulation nonlinearity can be avoided even if the dimming is at high level dc driven current.The proof-of-concept experiment of a 2.5Mbit/s visible light communication system demonstrates that the dimming controlling and data transmission can be realized simultaneously in a simple way,and the data transmission is not affected by the dimming controlling function.Compared to previous methods,the scheme in this paper is simpler and cost effective,and makes sense when high rate data is transmitted in a visible light communication system.展开更多

Vertebrate...Nuclear distribution gene C (NudC) was first found in Aspergillus nidulans as an upstream regulator of NudF, whose mamma- lian homolog is Lissencephaly 1 (Lisl). NudC is conserved from fungi to mammals. Vertebrate NudC has three homologs: NudC, NudC-like protein (NudCL), and NudC-like protein 2 (NudCL2). All members of the NudC family share a conserved p23 domain, which possesses chaperone activity both in conjunction with and independently of heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90). Our group and the others found that NudC homologs were involved in cell cycle regulation by stabilizing the components of the LIS l/dynein complex. Additionally, NudC plays important roles in cell migration, ciliogenesis, thrombopoiesis, and the in- flammatory response. It has been reported that NudCL is essential for the stability of the dynein intermediate chain and cilio- genesis via its interaction with the dynein 2 complex. Our data showed that NudCL2 regulates the LISl/dynein pathway by stabilizing LIS 1 with Hsp90 chaperone. The fourth distantly related member of the NudC family, CML66, a tumor-associated antigen in human leukemia, contains a p23 domain and appears to promote oncogenesis by regulating the IGF-1R-MAPK sig- naling pathway. In this review, we summarize our current knowledge of the NudC family and highlight its potential clinical relevance.展开更多

A non-return-to-zero differential phase shift keying (NRZ-DPSK) modulation technique is first utilized for downlink direction, and then the downlink signal is re-modulated for the uplink direction using intensity modulation technique of on-off keying (0OK) with a data rate of 10 Gbit/s per channel. An effective colorless WDM-PON full duplex transmission system is achieved for the data rate of 10 Gbit/s per channel with a channel spacing of 60 GHz over the distance of 25 km with low power penalty.展开更多

While enormous ef...MicroRNA (miRNA) alterations in response to changes in an extracellular microenvironment have been observed and consid- ered as one of the major mechanisms for epigenetic modifications of the cell. While enormous efforts have been made in the understanding of the role of miRNAs in regulating cellular responses to the microenvironment, the mechanistic insight into how extracellular signals can be transduced into miRNA alterations in cells is still lacking. Interestingly, recent studies have shown that ion channels/transporters, which are known to conduct or transport ions across the cell membrane, also exhibit changes in levels of expression and activities in response to changes of extraceUular microenvironment. More importantly, al- terations in expression and function of ion channels/transporters have been shown to result in changes in miRNAs that are known to change in response to alteration of the microenvironment. In this review, we aim to summarize the recent data demonstrating the ability of ion channels/transporters to transduce extracellular signals into miRNA changes and propose a potential link between cells and their microenvironment through ion channels/transporters. At the same time, we hope to pro- vide new insights into epigenetic regulatory mechanisms underlying a number of physiological and pathological processes, in- eluding embryo development and cancer metastasis.展开更多

CoMP-joint pro- cessing (JP) scheme can get a larger cell-edge throughput and a lower bit error rate (BER) than the CoMP-coordinated beamform- ing (CB) scheme, but it also has higher complexity due to data sharing. A hybrid coordinated strategy with parameter c~, which indicates the proportion of users employing the CoMP-JP scheme, is proposed to apply the CoMP-JP scheme to improve the poorer communication quality of cell edge and employ the CoMP-CB scheme for other users to enhance average throughput and spec- tral efficiency. This paradigm selects users defined by the certain threshold of signal to interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) corresponding to the parameter a to the CoMP-JP scheme. This paper compares the BER performance between the block diag- onalization (BD) based precoding and the linear precoders by maximizing signal to leakage and noise ratio (SLNR), and also in- dicates that the SLNR based precoding algorithm gets lower BER than the BD based precoding algorithm with certain signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). Finally, this paper discusses that the system perfor- mance is partially affected by the percentage of CoMP-JP users and concludes that 50% of users sorted to communicate under the CoMP-JP scheme will reach the best system performance.展开更多

The effects of IL-16 on the target cells are dependent on the cell type, the presence of co-activators etc. To understand the regulation function and mechanism of IL-16 on target cells, we used a 130 a.a. recombinant IL-16 to study its effects on the growth of Jurkat T leukemia cells in vitro. We found that the rIL-16 stimulated the proliferation of Jurkat cells at low dose (10-9M), but inhibited the growth of the cells at higher concentration (10-5M). Results showed that 10-5 M of rIL-16 treatment induced an enhanced apoptosis in Jurkat cells. The treatment blocked the expression of FasL, but up-regulated the c-myc and Bid expression in the cells. Pre-treatment of PKC inhibitor or MEK1 inhibitor markedly increased or decreased the rIL-16 induced growth-inhibiting effects on Jurkat cells, respectively. The results suggested that the rIL-16 might be a regulator for the growth or apoptosis of Jurkat cells at a dose-dependent manner. The growth-inhibiting effects of rIL-16 might be Fas/FasL independent, but, associated with the activation of PKC, up-regulated expression of c-Myc and Bid, and the participation of the ERK signal pathway in Jurkat cells.

文摘In this paper,a novel UWB communication system structure is proposed.The transmitted signal uses OOK modulation and chirp spread spectrum.The received signal first goes through a dechirp pulse compression process,and then is processed with a two-level sliding correlation algorithm for coarse timing synchronization and fine timing synchronization.After the SNR estimation,the signal is demodulated by an energy detection method.An integrated system level simulation model is established,and the performance of this system is evaluated over the AWGN channel,IEEE 802.15.3a CM1 and CM4 channels.The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that this UWB communication system can effectively reduce the sampling rate and signal processing speed at the receiver,and it is more suitable for long-distance and low-rate UWB communications with high spreading gain.

文摘The stability analysis and stabilization problems of the wireless networked control systems(WNCSs) with signal transmission deadbands were considered. The deadbands were respectively set up at the sensor to the controller and the controller to the actor sides in the WNCS, which were used to reduce data transmission, furthermore, to decrease the network collision and node energy consumption. Under the consideration of time-varying delays and signal transmission deadbands, the model for the WNCS was presented. A novel Lyapunov functional which took full advantages of the network factors was exploited. Meanwhile, new stability analysis and stabilization conditions for the WNCS were proposed, which described the relationship of the delay bounds, the transmission deadband bounds and the system stability. Two examples were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. The results show that the proposed approach can guarantee asymptotical stability of the system and reduce the data transmission effectively.
文摘The authors' developed combined system model can be considered under the concept of next generation optical network (NGON) as a model for the future design of backbone networks. Such solution can be topical in the result of different telecom operators' optical networks convergence. In this case a necessity to transmit differently modulated signals over a single optical fiber even with different bit rates may occur. This research is performed with OptSim 5.2 simulation software that numerically solves nonlinear SchrOdinger equation. The authors have revealed the optimal parameter configuration for developed combined transmission systems and obtained in system's channels detected signals bit-error-rate (BER) correlation diagrams. They represent BER as a function from different system's parameters such as channel output power level, optical amplifier fixed output power level and system's channels allotment in C-band of ITU-T (Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunications Union) recommended spectral grid. As well as these obtained BER values were compared with the results for similar system, where instead of standard single mode fiber (according ITU-T Rec. G.652 D) optical signals are transmitted over non-zero dispersion shifted fiber (ITU-T Rec. G. 655).

文摘To solve the problem of energy transmission in the Internet of Things(IoTs),an energy transmission schedule over a Rayleigh fading channel in the energy harvesting system(EHS)with a dedicated energy source(ES)is considered.According to the channel state information(CSI)and the battery state,the charging duration of the battery is determined to jointly minimize the energy consumption of ES,the battery's deficit charges and overcharges during energy transmission.Then,the joint optimization problem is formulated using the weighted sum method.Using the ideas from the Q-learning algorithm,a Q-learning-based energy scheduling algorithm is proposed to solve this problem.Then,the Q-learning-based energy scheduling algorithm is compared with a constant strategy and an on-demand dynamic strategy in energy consumption,the battery's deficit charges and the battery's overcharges.The simulation results show that the proposed Q-learning-based energy scheduling algorithm can effectively improve the system stability in terms of the battery's deficit charges and overcharges.

文摘Simultaneous dimming controlling and data transmission are usually required in a white LED based indoor visible light communication system.However,the diming controlling of LED normally interferes the data transmission due to the modulation nonlinearity of LED.In order to solve this problem,a scheme by separating the LEDs for the functions of dimming control and data transmission respectively is proposed in this paper.In the scheme,the LEDs used for dimming control function are driven by a dc amplified circuit,and the LEDs for data transmission are driven by a digital modulation circuit respectively.In this way,the modulation distortion to the data signal caused by the modulation nonlinearity can be avoided even if the dimming is at high level dc driven current.The proof-of-concept experiment of a 2.5Mbit/s visible light communication system demonstrates that the dimming controlling and data transmission can be realized simultaneously in a simple way,and the data transmission is not affected by the dimming controlling function.Compared to previous methods,the scheme in this paper is simpler and cost effective,and makes sense when high rate data is transmitted in a visible light communication system.

文摘Nuclear distribution gene C (NudC) was first found in Aspergillus nidulans as an upstream regulator of NudF, whose mamma- lian homolog is Lissencephaly 1 (Lisl). NudC is conserved from fungi to mammals. Vertebrate NudC has three homologs: NudC, NudC-like protein (NudCL), and NudC-like protein 2 (NudCL2). All members of the NudC family share a conserved p23 domain, which possesses chaperone activity both in conjunction with and independently of heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90). Our group and the others found that NudC homologs were involved in cell cycle regulation by stabilizing the components of the LIS l/dynein complex. Additionally, NudC plays important roles in cell migration, ciliogenesis, thrombopoiesis, and the in- flammatory response. It has been reported that NudCL is essential for the stability of the dynein intermediate chain and cilio- genesis via its interaction with the dynein 2 complex. Our data showed that NudCL2 regulates the LISl/dynein pathway by stabilizing LIS 1 with Hsp90 chaperone. The fourth distantly related member of the NudC family, CML66, a tumor-associated antigen in human leukemia, contains a p23 domain and appears to promote oncogenesis by regulating the IGF-1R-MAPK sig- naling pathway. In this review, we summarize our current knowledge of the NudC family and highlight its potential clinical relevance.

文摘The ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis is a key capability critical for the survival and well-being of animals living in constantly changing environments.Metabolic homeostasis depends on neuromodulators,such as biogenic amines,neuropeptides,and hormones,to signal changes in animals’ internal metabolic status and to orchestrate their behaviors accordingly.An important example is the regulation of feeding behavior by conserved molecular and cellular mechanisms across the animal kingdom.Its relatively simple brain coupled with well-characterized genetics and behavioral paradigms makes the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster an excellent model for investigating the neuromodulatory regulation of feeding behavior.In this review we discuss the neuromodulators and neural circuits that integrate the internal physiological status with external sensory cues and modulate feeding behavior in adult fruit flies.Studies show that various specific aspects of feeding behavior are subjected to unique neuromodulatory regulation,which permits fruit flies to maintain metabolic homeostasis effectively.

文摘Mammalian cortical development is a dynamically and strictly regulated process orchestrated by extracellular signals and intracellular mechanisms. Recent studies show that epigenetic regulation serves as, at least in part, interfaces between genes and the environment, and also provides insight into the molecular and cellular bases of early embryonic cortical development. It is becoming increasingly clear that epigenetic regulation of cortical development occurs at multiple levels and that comprehensive knowledge of this complex regulatory landscape is essential to delineating embryonic neurogenesis.

文摘We experimentally demonstrate and analyze a 10 Gbit/s full duplex wavelength division multiplexing passive optical net- work (WDM-PON) system. A non-return-to-zero differential phase shift keying (NRZ-DPSK) modulation technique is first utilized for downlink direction, and then the downlink signal is re-modulated for the uplink direction using intensity modulation technique of on-off keying (0OK) with a data rate of 10 Gbit/s per channel. An effective colorless WDM-PON full duplex transmission system is achieved for the data rate of 10 Gbit/s per channel with a channel spacing of 60 GHz over the distance of 25 km with low power penalty.

文摘MicroRNA (miRNA) alterations in response to changes in an extracellular microenvironment have been observed and consid- ered as one of the major mechanisms for epigenetic modifications of the cell. While enormous efforts have been made in the understanding of the role of miRNAs in regulating cellular responses to the microenvironment, the mechanistic insight into how extracellular signals can be transduced into miRNA alterations in cells is still lacking. Interestingly, recent studies have shown that ion channels/transporters, which are known to conduct or transport ions across the cell membrane, also exhibit changes in levels of expression and activities in response to changes of extraceUular microenvironment. More importantly, al- terations in expression and function of ion channels/transporters have been shown to result in changes in miRNAs that are known to change in response to alteration of the microenvironment. In this review, we aim to summarize the recent data demonstrating the ability of ion channels/transporters to transduce extracellular signals into miRNA changes and propose a potential link between cells and their microenvironment through ion channels/transporters. At the same time, we hope to pro- vide new insights into epigenetic regulatory mechanisms underlying a number of physiological and pathological processes, in- eluding embryo development and cancer metastasis.

文摘Coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission is put forward in the long term evolution-advanced (LTE-A) system to improve both average and cell-edge throughput. CoMP-joint pro- cessing (JP) scheme can get a larger cell-edge throughput and a lower bit error rate (BER) than the CoMP-coordinated beamform- ing (CB) scheme, but it also has higher complexity due to data sharing. A hybrid coordinated strategy with parameter c~, which indicates the proportion of users employing the CoMP-JP scheme, is proposed to apply the CoMP-JP scheme to improve the poorer communication quality of cell edge and employ the CoMP-CB scheme for other users to enhance average throughput and spec- tral efficiency. This paradigm selects users defined by the certain threshold of signal to interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) corresponding to the parameter a to the CoMP-JP scheme. This paper compares the BER performance between the block diag- onalization (BD) based precoding and the linear precoders by maximizing signal to leakage and noise ratio (SLNR), and also in- dicates that the SLNR based precoding algorithm gets lower BER than the BD based precoding algorithm with certain signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). Finally, this paper discusses that the system perfor- mance is partially affected by the percentage of CoMP-JP users and concludes that 50% of users sorted to communicate under the CoMP-JP scheme will reach the best system performance.

文摘A location-adaptive transmission scheme for indoor visible light communication(VLC) system is proposed in this paper.In this scheme,the symbol error rate(SER) of less than 10-3 should be guaranteed.And the scheme is realized by the variable multilevel pulse-position modulation(MPPM),where the transmitters adaptively adjust the number of time slots n in the MPPM symbol according to the position of the receiver.The purpose of our scheme is to achieve the best data rate in the indoor different locations.The results show that the location-adaptive transmission scheme based on the variable MPPM is superior in the indoor VLC system.
