Up to date, all reported the active transposable elements in rice (Oryza sativa L.) are copia like retrotransposons. In the present study, the reverse transcriptase domains of copia like retrotransposons were amplified from the total DNA isolated from the mutant plants with the degenerated oligonucleotide primers for the domain. Three cloned insert DNAs, R33 1, R33 4 and R33 8, representing putative different copia like retrotransposons were screened out. Two of them displayed high polymorphism between “Zhaiyeqing 8” and “Jingxi 17”. Nine of the polymorphic bands were mapped on seven rice chromosomes. Sequencing analysis revealed that stop codons frequently occur in the sequence of R33 8, while both R33 1 and R33 4 contain a continuous coding region for 81 putative amino acid residues. No significant variation in hybridization patterns was found between indica and japonica rice or among 26 varieties of indica rice when R33 1 was used as a probe. Nevertheless, when R33 4 was used as a probe, high polymorphisms were detected both between indica and japonica rice and among 26 indica varieties, implying that this element might still be active in rice genomes.展开更多

DNA sequences flanking the T-DNA were analyzed with inverse PC...The Agrobacterium mediated transgenic rice ( Oryza saliva L.) population with inserts of maize transposon Activator/Dissociation (Ac/Ds) was investigated. DNA sequences flanking the T-DNA were analyzed with inverse PCR. Results showed that 65.4% of the T-DNA was integrated in different locations of rice genome, and some T-DNA flanking sequences were located on certain chromosomes. A number of T-DNA was found to have inserted into protein coding regions. In order to induce transposition of the inserted Ds elements, 354 crosses of Ac x Ds and Ds x Ac were constructed. The excision frequency of Ds element trans-activated by Ac transposase was 22.7% in the F-2 populations, and the transposition was confirmed with analyses of DNA sequences flanking the Ds elements. In addition to the transposition due to 'cut-paste' mechanism, Ds can replicate itself and integrate into a new locus, and inaccurate excisions were also found. A proportion of DNA segments flanking the Ds elements showed no homologies to sequences published in GenBank, of which two were registered under the accession numbers AF355153 and AF355770. The strategy of using transposon tagging for rice genomics study was discussed.展开更多

In view of the interference from road random signal and sensor noise in the novel active steering system, the H∞ control model of the novel active steering system was built. With satisfying steering feel, good robust performance and steering stability being the control objectives, the H∞ controller for the novel active front steering (AFS) system was designed. The simulation results show that the novel AFS system with H∞ control strategy can attenuate the road interference quickly, and there is no resonance peak in the bode diagram. It can make the driver obtain more useful information in the low frequency range, and attenuate the road interference better in the high frequency range, thus the driver can get more satisfying road feeling. Therefore, the designed H∞ controller can synthesize the advantages of both robust performance and robust stability, and has certain contribution to the design of novel AFS system.展开更多
To evaluate the prognostic value of site-specific metastases among patients with metastatic pancreatic carcinoma registered within the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database.METHODSSEER database (2...To evaluate the prognostic value of site-specific metastases among patients with metastatic pancreatic carcinoma registered within the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database.METHODSSEER database (2010-2013) has been queried through SEER*Stat program to determine the presentation, treatment outcomes and prognostic outcomes of metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma according to the site of metastasis. In this study, metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma patients were classified according to the site of metastases (liver, lung, bone, brain and distant lymph nodes). We utilized chi-square test to compare the clinicopathological characteristics among different sites of metastases. We used Kaplan-Meier analysis and log-rank testing for survival comparisons. We employed Cox proportional model to perform multivariate analyses of the patient population; and accordingly hazard ratios with corresponding 95%CI were generated. Statistical significance was considered if a two-tailed P value < 0.05 was achieved.RESULTSA total of 13233 patients with stage IV pancreatic cancer and known sites of distant metastases were identified in the period from 2010-2013 and they were included into the current analysis. Patients with isolated distant nodal involvement or lung metastases have better overall and pancreatic cancer-specific survival compared to patients with isolated liver metastases (for overall survival: lung vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001; distant nodal vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001) (for pancreatic cancer-specific survival: lung vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001; distant nodal vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001). Multivariate analysis revealed that age < 65 years, white race, being married, female gender; surgery to the primary tumor and surgery to the metastatic disease were associated with better overall survival and pancreatic cancer-specific survival.CONCLUSIONPancreatic adenocarcinoma patients with isolated liver metastases have worse outcomes compared to patients with isolated lung or distant nodal metastases. Further research is needed to identify the highly selected subset of patients who may benefit from local treatment of the primary tumor and/or metastatic disease.展开更多

The barrier was installed in order to minimize the cogging torque and torque ripple by finite element method (FEM) with a reduced barrier width toward the center of magnetic pole. The position and width of notch, which can offset cogging torque, can be calculated with energy distribution of air-gap using Fourier series. The optimized model demonstrates a 60% decrease in the cogging torque, a 75.3% decrease in the torque ripple and a 3% increase in the operating torque when compared with the basic model.展开更多
AIM: To determine serum γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity, and to assess their correlation with demographic and clinical findings in healthy bl...AIM: To determine serum γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity, and to assess their correlation with demographic and clinical findings in healthy blood donors. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was performed in 934 male blood donors, aged 18 to 68 years, who consecutively attended Tehran blood transfusion service in 2006. All participants were seronegative for HBV or HCV infections, non alcohol users, and all underwent a standard interview and anthropometric tests. Clinical and biochemical parameters including AST, ALT, and GGT activities were determined. Patients taking drugs known to cause hepatic fat deposition were excluded. For AST, ALT, and GGT variables, we used 33.33 and 66.66 percentiles, so that each of them was divided into three tertiles. RESULTS: Mean AST, ALT, and GGT activities were 25.26 ± 12.58 U/L (normal range 5-35 U/L), 33.13 ± 22.98 (normal range 5-35 U/L), and 25.11 ± 18.32 (normal range 6-37 U/L), respectively. By univariate analyses, there were significant associations between increasing AST, ALT, or GGT tertiles and age, body weight, body mass index, and waist and hip circumferences (P < 0.05). By multiple linear regression analyses, ALT was found to be positively correlated with dyslipidemia (B = 6.988, P = 0.038), whereas ALT and AST were negatively correlated with age. AST, ALT, and GGT levels had positive correlation with family history of liver disease (B = 15.763, P < 0.001), (B = 32.345, P < 0.001), (B =24.415, P < 0.001), respectively.CONCLUSION: Although we did not determine the cutoffs of the upper normal limits for AST, ALT, and GGT levels, we would suggest screening asymptomatic patients with dyslipidemia and also subjects with a family history of liver disease.展开更多

In order to achieve effective gene delivery, a key step for the genetic modification, we applied electronic pulse delivery (EPD) technology to introduce HZKb-DC DNA construct into swine eggs. Using the developed EPD ProtocolsTM, we have achieved good viability of the EPD treated oocytes, satisfactory embryonic development of the EPD treated embryos, and stable DNA transfer into the swine embryos with high efficiency. Thus, application of the EPD technology promises to effectively facilitate the generation of large trangenic mammals.展开更多

Moreover, formulations to calculate the inverse perturbation parameter ε and method to select the corresponding ε's value properly are also proposed. The proposed method is characterized in reducing frequency analysis and suitable for large and small structrual changes alike. Transposable elements(TEs)usually occupy largest fractions of plant genome and are also the most variable part of the structure.Although traditionally it is hallmarked as"junk and selfish DNA",today more and...Transposable elements(TEs)usually occupy largest fractions of plant genome and are also the most variable part of the structure.Although traditionally it is hallmarked as"junk and selfish DNA",today more and more evidence points out TE’s participation in gene regulations including gene mutation,duplication,movement and novel gene creation via genetic and epigenetic mechanisms.The recently sequenced genomes of diploid cottons Gossypium arboreum(AA)and Gossypium raimondii(DD)together with their allotetraploid progeny Gossypium hirsutum(At At Dt Dt)provides a unique opportunity to compare genome variations in the Gossypium genus and to analyze the functions of TEs during its evolution.TEs accounted for 57%,68.5%and67.2%,respectively in DD,AA and At At Dt Dt genomes.The 1,694 Mb A-genome was found to harbor more LTR(long terminal repeat)-type retrotransposons that made cardinal contributions to the twofold increase in its genome size after evolution from the 775.2 Mb D-genome.Although the 2,173 Mb At At Dt Dt genome showed similar TE content to the A-genome,the total numbers of LTR-gypsy and LTR-copia type TEs varied significantly between these two genomes.Considering their roles on rewiring gene regulatory networks,we believe that TEs may somehow be involved in cotton fiber cell development.Indeed,the insertion or deletion of different TEs in the upstream region of two important transcription factor genes in At or Dt subgenomes resulted in qualitative differences in target gene expression.We suggest that our findings may open a window for improving cotton agronomic traits by editing TE activities.展开更多

On this basis,...To improve the handling performance of a steer-by-wire (SBW) vehicle, a series of control logics are proposed. Firstly, an algorithm for enhancing the maneuvering in steady-state cornering is presented. On this basis, two categories of control strategies are used to dynamically correct and compensate the transient state steering responses and vehicle behaviors. Simulator tests including subjective evaluations and virtual field tests are both conducted to make comprehensive investigations on the series of control logics. The subjective evaluations demonstrate that the SBW vehicle with a specifically selected value of steering sensitivity tends to be more desirable for driving than a conventional one in which a fixed steering ratio exists. The virtual field tests indicate that the control strategies for dynamical correction and compensation could effectively improve the handling per-formances of an SBW vehicle by reducing the work load of drivers, enhancing the track-holding performance, and improving steering response properties.展开更多

Patients with isolated distant nodal involvement or lung metastases have better overall and pancreatic cancer-specific survival compared to patients with isolated liver metastases (for overall survival: lung vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001; distant nodal vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001) (for pancreatic cancer-specific survival: lung vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001; distant nodal vs liver metastases: P < 0.0001). Multivariate analysis revealed that age < 65 years, white race, being married, female gender; surgery to the primary tumor and surgery to the metastatic disease were associated with better overall survival and pancreatic cancer-specific survival.CONCLUSIONPancreatic adenocarcinoma patients with isolated liver metastases have worse outcomes compared to patients with isolated lung or distant nodal metastases. Further research is needed to identify the highly selected subset of patients who may benefit from local treatment of the primary tumor and/or metastatic disease.

文摘The torsional oscillation characteristics on the bending and torsioh coupled vibration of rotary shaft system were investigated using the elasto-dynamic theory and other mathematic methods, such as difference approach, Fourier transform, and wavelet transform. It is concluded that mass eccentricity and other exciting modalities affect the bending and torsion coupled vibration of rotary shafts. Torsional vibration caused by bending vibration features linearity along with the change of amplitude of bending vibration. Meanwhile, energy spectrum concentrates on high frequency area with the wavelet analysis.

文摘The design of notch and barrier was optimized in order to improve the characteristics of constant torque while minimizing the cogging torque that occurs as a result of teeth and slot structure. The barrier was installed in order to minimize the cogging torque and torque ripple by finite element method (FEM) with a reduced barrier width toward the center of magnetic pole. The position and width of notch, which can offset cogging torque, can be calculated with energy distribution of air-gap using Fourier series. The optimized model demonstrates a 60% decrease in the cogging torque, a 75.3% decrease in the torque ripple and a 3% increase in the operating torque when compared with the basic model.
文摘AIM: To determine serum γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity, and to assess their correlation with demographic and clinical findings in healthy blood donors. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was performed in 934 male blood donors, aged 18 to 68 years, who consecutively attended Tehran blood transfusion service in 2006. All participants were seronegative for HBV or HCV infections, non alcohol users, and all underwent a standard interview and anthropometric tests. Clinical and biochemical parameters including AST, ALT, and GGT activities were determined. Patients taking drugs known to cause hepatic fat deposition were excluded. For AST, ALT, and GGT variables, we used 33.33 and 66.66 percentiles, so that each of them was divided into three tertiles. RESULTS: Mean AST, ALT, and GGT activities were 25.26 ± 12.58 U/L (normal range 5-35 U/L), 33.13 ± 22.98 (normal range 5-35 U/L), and 25.11 ± 18.32 (normal range 6-37 U/L), respectively. By univariate analyses, there were significant associations between increasing AST, ALT, or GGT tertiles and age, body weight, body mass index, and waist and hip circumferences (P < 0.05). By multiple linear regression analyses, ALT was found to be positively correlated with dyslipidemia (B = 6.988, P = 0.038), whereas ALT and AST were negatively correlated with age. AST, ALT, and GGT levels had positive correlation with family history of liver disease (B = 15.763, P < 0.001), (B = 32.345, P < 0.001), (B =24.415, P < 0.001), respectively.CONCLUSION: Although we did not determine the cutoffs of the upper normal limits for AST, ALT, and GGT levels, we would suggest screening asymptomatic patients with dyslipidemia and also subjects with a family history of liver disease.
文摘Unbalanced vibration in dual-rotor rotating machinery was studied with numerical simulations and experiments. A new method is proposed to separate vibration signals of inner and outer rotors for a system with very little difference in rotating speeds. Magnitudes and phase values of unbalance defects can be obtained directly by sampling the vibration signal synchronized with reference signal. The balancing process is completed by the reciprocity influence coefficients of inner and outer rotors method. Results showed the advantage of such method for a dual-rotor system as compared with conventional balancing.
文摘The production of transgenic swine for xenotransplantation has been proposed as an optimal option to overcome the chronic shortage of human organ donors. Generation of genetically engineered swine has been elusive due to the difficulties in gene transfer. In order to achieve effective gene delivery, a key step for the genetic modification, we applied electronic pulse delivery (EPD) technology to introduce HZKb-DC DNA construct into swine eggs. Using the developed EPD ProtocolsTM, we have achieved good viability of the EPD treated oocytes, satisfactory embryonic development of the EPD treated embryos, and stable DNA transfer into the swine embryos with high efficiency. Thus, application of the EPD technology promises to effectively facilitate the generation of large trangenic mammals.

文摘An Inverse perturbation method is described for solving the general inverse eigenvalue problem. By taking the analysis of the rotor system as example based upon FEM, the new inverse perturbation method for structural design with specified low-order natural frequencies or frequency constraint bands is detailed as well as its complete theoretical basis. Moreover, formulations to calculate the inverse perturbation parameter ε and method to select the corresponding ε's value properly are also proposed. The proposed method is characterized in reducing frequency analysis and suitable for large and small structrual changes alike. Finally, several different numerical examples for inverse cigenvalue problem are discussed to illustrate the method, which show that this inverse perturbation method Is general and can be applied to other type of structure or dement.

文摘Transposable elements(TEs)usually occupy largest fractions of plant genome and are also the most variable part of the structure.Although traditionally it is hallmarked as"junk and selfish DNA",today more and more evidence points out TE’s participation in gene regulations including gene mutation,duplication,movement and novel gene creation via genetic and epigenetic mechanisms.The recently sequenced genomes of diploid cottons Gossypium arboreum(AA)and Gossypium raimondii(DD)together with their allotetraploid progeny Gossypium hirsutum(At At Dt Dt)provides a unique opportunity to compare genome variations in the Gossypium genus and to analyze the functions of TEs during its evolution.TEs accounted for 57%,68.5%and67.2%,respectively in DD,AA and At At Dt Dt genomes.The 1,694 Mb A-genome was found to harbor more LTR(long terminal repeat)-type retrotransposons that made cardinal contributions to the twofold increase in its genome size after evolution from the 775.2 Mb D-genome.Although the 2,173 Mb At At Dt Dt genome showed similar TE content to the A-genome,the total numbers of LTR-gypsy and LTR-copia type TEs varied significantly between these two genomes.Considering their roles on rewiring gene regulatory networks,we believe that TEs may somehow be involved in cotton fiber cell development.Indeed,the insertion or deletion of different TEs in the upstream region of two important transcription factor genes in At or Dt subgenomes resulted in qualitative differences in target gene expression.We suggest that our findings may open a window for improving cotton agronomic traits by editing TE activities.

文摘To improve the handling performance of a steer-by-wire (SBW) vehicle, a series of control logics are proposed. Firstly, an algorithm for enhancing the maneuvering in steady-state cornering is presented. On this basis, two categories of control strategies are used to dynamically correct and compensate the transient state steering responses and vehicle behaviors. Simulator tests including subjective evaluations and virtual field tests are both conducted to make comprehensive investigations on the series of control logics. The subjective evaluations demonstrate that the SBW vehicle with a specifically selected value of steering sensitivity tends to be more desirable for driving than a conventional one in which a fixed steering ratio exists. The virtual field tests indicate that the control strategies for dynamical correction and compensation could effectively improve the handling per-formances of an SBW vehicle by reducing the work load of drivers, enhancing the track-holding performance, and improving steering response properties.

文摘Dendrimers are well-defined tree-like macromolecules possessing numerous chain ends emanating from a single core, which makes them attractive candidates for mimicking light-harvesting systems and hydrogenases. Photoinduced electron and energy transfers are main processes involved in light-harvesting and photocatalysis. In this review, the general concepts of design strategies and recent developments of photofunctional dendrimers in biomimics of light-harvesting systems and hydrogenases are discussed. The energy transfer and electron transfer processes in light-harvesting dendrimers and the effect of dendritic structures in photochemical hydrogen production are illustrated.
