The concept of narrative evidence-based medicine and shared decision-making in traditional Chinese medical practice

For the explosive development of emerging diagnostic and therapeutic technologies brought by the advancement of precision medicine strategy, shared decision-making could improve the quality of clinical decision-making and promote the transformation of clinical research evidence in TCM. Paying attention to patients＇ narrative needs and strengthening medical humanistic concerns could improve clinical outcome and patient satisfaction. We described the origins and development of evidence-based medicine, narrative medicine and shared decision-making, and analyzed the existing problems in TCM clinical decision-making. Further, we put forward the model of shared decision-making between clinicians and patients under the guidance of narrative evidence-based medicine concepts and methods.

Patient decision aids for cardiovascular disease： the status-quo and prospects

This article introduced the development and application of patient decision aid （PtDA） for cardiovascular disease. There are many risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and the mortality rate is high. Therefore, continuous management in symptoms, risk factors and lifestyle behaviors is needed for a good prognosis. PtDA can improve the patient＇s understanding of cardiovascular disease and the potential risk of perception of cardiovascular disease, as well as improve the communication between doctors and patients. The emergence of narrative evidence-based medicine provided a new opportunity for the further development of PtDA. At present, there were demands for domestic cardiovascular decision aids, but the researches were extremely limited.

A review on the International Patient Decision Aid Standards （IPDAS）： history, development and application

A Patient Decision Aid （PtDA） is an important means in TCM practice to promote shared decision-making between doctor and patient, which is developed based on evidence-based and narrative medicine concepts. It is also an important tool for individualized diagnosis and treatment in the context of precision medical care. With the rapid increase of interest on the PtDA, it is important to establish a unified quality evaluation standard and standardize the development process. This article aims to introduce the main content, development history and application of International Patient Decision Aid Standards （IPDAS）, and provide reference for the application of the evaluation standard in China.

Literature review of the basic medical insurance of urban and rural integration

To set up the nation＇s covering medical insurance syslem and to the realization of the basic medical insurance of urban and rural integration, is the inevitable trend in the development of China＇s medical insurance reform, as well as it is also a key step. In recent years, the state promulgated a series of policies in promoting urban and rural medical insurance and many cities took the lead to reform form the medical insurance pattern with local characteristics. All of these are helpful for our country to realize the integration and providing valuable experience. The target of the article is to maintain the public cause of medical and health, to solve the problem of high cost of urban and rural residents to see a doctor. As well as to realize the objections of disease pro^ection, convenience, cure spends less.

Acupuncture as a potential approach to improve the health of women with obesity

In addition to higher risks of various obstetric and gynaecological illnesses among women with obesity or who are overweight, maternal adiposity threatens the lifetime health of their offspring. Diverse treatments are provided, including complementary and alternative medicine such as Chinese medical practices. Acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medicinal method, is increasingly being applied to this health problem. This literature review analyses 25 clinical studies, involving 2407 participants aged 13-65 in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America. This illustrates the use of acupuncture alone or with other approaches to control body weight, obesity-induced diseases, and gynaecological health. Although positive indicators are presented, this study offers recommendations for enhancing reliability and validity in further research. It therefore suggests the use of acupuncture in dealing with obesity due to its efficacy, and economic and safety benefits.

Efficacy of acupuncture on treating obesity and adipose-incurred illnesses

Being overweight and obese impacts health due to adiposity itself and illnesses it incurs,which produces individual and societal financial burdens.This urges effective interventions,including adjunct therapies.Acupuncture,a traditional Chinese medical practice,indicates positive signs for tackling these problems.Investigating 101 empirical human-based projects,this narrative review analyses their outcomes and then provides an overview of the effects of acupuncture in body weight reduction and obesity-induced diseases,either performed alone or with other approaches.It involves 15941 participants from 9-80 years old in China's Mainland,Taiwan,Turkey,Brazil,Egypt,Iran,Greece,Korea,Sudan,Thailand,and the USA.It also reveals practical implications and future research directions,benefiting the development of acupuncture in the modern medical arena for both patients and practitioners.

Healthcare Algorithms by Wearable Inertial Sensors: A Survey

Wearable smart devices, such as smart watch, wristband are becoming increasingly popular recently. They generally integrate the MEMS-designed inertial sensors, including accelerometer, gyroscope and compass, which provide a convenient and inexpensive way to collect motion data of users. Such rich, continuous motion data provide great potential for remote healthcare and decease diagnosis. Information processing algorithms play the critical role in these approaches, which is to extract the motion signatures and to access different kinds of judgements. This paper reviews key algorithms in these areas. In particular, we focus on three kinds of applications: 1) gait analysis; 2) fall detection and 3) sleep monitoring. They are the most popular healthcare applications based on the inertial data. By categorizing and introducing the key algorithms, this paper tries to build a clear map of how the inertial data are processed; how the inertial signatures are defined, extracted, and utilized in different kinds of applications. This will provide a valuable guidance for users to understand the methodologies and to select proper algorithm for specifi c application purpose.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing in Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy： A literature review

At present, unified and effective treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathy （DPN） is still lacking, however Chinese medicine techniques characterized by syndrome differentiation and treatment, for example traditional Chinese medicine preparations, acupuncture, and fumigation, have been considered the promising alternative for DPN. Traditional Chinese medicine nursing, which is development on the basis of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） theory, uses not only acupuncture, acupoint application and other treatments but also cares for the patient＇s diet and emotions in order to promote the recovery of skin and nerve endings in patients with DPN. Vast amounts of studies have explored the efficacies of various TCM nursing techniques in managing DPN, however, the article, which comprehensively documented these TCM nursing techniques in DNP patients, cannot be cap- tured. In the present article, we summarized the latest findings of TCM research on DPN in recent years in order to provide a reference for DPN.

Brief introduction on the characteristics of bloodletting therapy in Japan

The article approached the distinguishing features of bloodletting therapy in Japan from the angles of its evolution history and technical characteristics. Focus has been put on different targets and diverse amount of bleeding of 3 Japanese bloodletting therapies, namely bloodletting puncture on Jing （Well）-Points, bloodletting puncture on collaterals and bloodletting puncture on skin. Meanwhile, a general comparison was made between the bloodletting therapy in Japan and the pricking blood therapy in China, which is expected to assist the progress of bloodletting therapy.

Effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine on oligoasthenospermatism:a narrative review

OBJECTIVE: To summarize the treatment of oligoasthenospermatism(OAS) with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS: The literature describing OAS treatment with TCM in the past 4 years was searched.Three studies were reviewed, evaluated, and summarized. The etiology and pathogenesis, pattern differentiation, medicine administration, and combination of TCM with Western Medicine were all examined.RESULTS: TCM had an advantage in treating OAS and had fewer adverse events than conventional treatments.CONCLUSION: Although TCM has an advantage in treating OAS and fewer adverse events, the efficacy of TCM and modern medicine on OAS is unsatisfactory.

Research Progress of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Treating Diabetes Mellitus

This article summarizes the commonly-used acupuncture and mOXlbUStlOn therapies, such as acupuncture therapy, moxibustion therapy, auriculo-acupuncture therapy, acupoint-injection therapy, electro-acupuncture therapy, acupoint-application therapy and the comprehensive therapy, in the treatment of diabetes mellitus, and explores the possible mechanisms of acupuncture and moxibustion in treating diabetes mellitus from the influence of acupuncture and moxibustion on levels of the blood sugar level, insulin, blood lipid, blood rheology, anti-peroxide, the contents of cAMP and cGMP, and the activity of Na＋ -K＋/ATPase.

Research Progress in Sports Fatigue Prevented and Treated by Acupuncture

Objective： To analyze the literature on clinical and experimental studies of sports fatigues treated and prevented by acupuncture therapy and understand the current status about acupuncture therapy for eliminating sports fatigue. Method： By the method to analyze the literature, the literature on treatment of sports fatigue in the recent 20 years was summarized and analyzed. Results and Conclusion： Acupuncture therapy is able to eliminate free radicals, resist lipid peroxidation, prevent dysfunction of the motor hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis, reduce the creatine kinase content, and lower lactic acid concentration, so as to play an important role in the elimination of sports fatigue and improvement of athletic ability of the body. But, traditional acupuncture therapy will cause minor injury to the human body, it is necessary to popularize the painless acupuncture therapy, and explore the functional mechanism of acupuncture therapy in the treatment and prevention of sport fatigue by multiple channels in the future.

Current Situation and Development About Quantitative Study of Needling Techniques

In the review of the literature on the quantitative study of the needling techniques, the authors believe that modem scientific technology plays an important role in the quantitative study of the needling techniques, submit the research methods and channels of the quantitative study of the needling techniques under the current condition, foresee its development prospects and emphasize the significance of the quantitative study of the needling technique in the teaching, clinical service and research process of acupuncture.

Review of the powder and decoction formulae in Traditional Chinese Medicine based on pharmacologically active substances and clinical evidence

Powder formulae are an indispensable part of prescription in Traditional Chinese Medicine.Powder formulae are characterized by good therapeutic efficacy and low dose used for their preparation.Analysis of the therapeutic application and material basis of pharmacological active substance in power formulae can enable the development of new powder formulae.This in turn can contribute to reduction of wastage of drug material,relief of shortage of herbal medicinal resources and sustainable development of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
