The ill-conditioning of the normal matrix can be improved by the regularized matrix. The relative floating ambiguity can be computed only by using the data of several epochs. Combined with the LAMBDA method, the new approach can correctly and quickly fix the integer ambiguity and the success rate is 100% in experiments. Through using measured data sets from four mediumlong baselines, the new method can obtain exact ambiguities only by the Ll-frequency data of three epochs. Compared with the existing methods, the improved method can solve the ambiguities of the medium-long baseline GPS network RTK only using L1-frequency GPS data.展开更多

The circumferential velocities of gas were measured with a five-hole Pitot probe.The pressure drop decreased rapidly when the liquid was introduced to the rotor,because the circumferential velocity of the liquid droplets was lower than that of the gas,reducing the circumferential velocity of gas and the centrifugal pressure drop.The power consumption decreased first when the gas entered the RZB rotor,because the gas with higher circumferential velocity facilitates the rotation of baffles.展开更多
This work aims at selecting optimal operating variables to obtain the minimum specific energy(SE) in sawing of rocks.A particular granite was sampled and sawn by a fully automated circular diamond sawblades.The periph...This work aims at selecting optimal operating variables to obtain the minimum specific energy(SE) in sawing of rocks.A particular granite was sampled and sawn by a fully automated circular diamond sawblades.The peripheral speed,the traverse speed,the cut depth and the flow rate of cooling fluid were selected as the operating variables.Taguchi approach was adopted as a statistical design of experimental technique for optimization studies.The results were evaluated based on the analysis of variance and signal-to-noise ratio(S/N ratio).Statistically significant operating variables and their percentage contribution to the process were also determined.Additionally,a statistical model was developed to demonstrate the relationship between SE and operating variables using regression analysis and the model was then verified.It was found that the optimal combination of operating variables for minimum SE is the peripheral speed of 25 m/s,the traverse speed of 70 cm/min,the cut depth of 2 cm and the flow rate of cooling fluid of 100 mL/s.The cut depth and traverse speed were statistically determined as the significant operating variables affecting the SE,respectively.Furthermore,the regression model results reveal that the predictive model has a high applicability for practical applications.展开更多

Using light-emitting diodes (LED) as blue and red light sources, we analyzed the light effect on gametophytes devel- opment of Laminaria japonica Aresch. The gametophytes were obtained from zoospores collected in April, May, July, 2003 and September, 2004. We found that the growth of gametophytes was stimulated by increasing inten- sity of blue light (BL) and red light (RL) illumination, of which BL was obviously stronger than that of RL. The fertilization of gametophytes depended largely on BL, and only sufficient BL illumination could take the repro- ductive effect. In addition, we noticed that there was a significant difference in light responses for gametophytes developed from zoospore collected in different times. For zoospores released in April, under BL1 (73.90 μmol photons/m·s), the unicellular female gametophytes and multi-cellular male gametophytes produced eggs and sperms respectively, and further developed towards sporophytes. However, for gametophytes developed in May, July or September, they became multi-cellular and never formed oogonia or antheridia. It is believed that the Laminaria sporangium maturation stage could affect the gametophytes reaction to BL under laboratory culture conditions. Therefore, cryptochrome- or phototropin-like BL photoreceptors is probably involved in BL-induced development of Laminaria gametophytes.展开更多

The non-linear equations of motion obtained are solved numerically for different values of the various parameters of the problem. The path traced by the centre of the bubble and velocity of the centre, the change of radius R with time, and the influence of the buoyancy force, which is experienced by the expanding bubble for different values of the gravitational acceleration on these quantities, are investigated. The radius R(t) of the bubble is found to vary periodically with time when the acceleration due to gravity is small. But when the acceleration due to gravity increases, this periodicity in the value of R(t) with t is lost. The influence of viscosity in determining the periodicity of the bubble motion is also investigated.展开更多

Methods: The experiment was c...Objective: To observe osteogenetic rate of alveolar bone on the tension side in orthodontic tooth movement through distraction osteogenesis of the periodental ligament quantificationally. Methods: The experiment was carried in 6 dogs. The left side of jaws of each one was set as test or control side, and the other side was control or test side. On the control side, the first premorlar was moved by traditional method on the test side. A self-made distraction device was used on the test side. The newly formed alveolar bone on the tension side of moved tooth was labeled by serial tetracycline fluorochrome. Sections were observed by fluorescence microscope and pictured. Newly formed bone was measured by computer image analysis. Results: The quantity of newly formed bone was significantly different between the two methods. Newly formed bone in rapid tooth movement by distraction osteogenesis of the periodental ligament was more than that in traditional method. Conclusion: The distraction through periodental ligament could induce more rapid bone formation and excite higher osteogenetic activity than traditional method.展开更多
A probabilistic seismic hazard analysis was performed to generate seismic hazard maps for Jamaica. The analysis was then conducted using a standard logic-tree approach that allowed systematically taking into account t...A probabilistic seismic hazard analysis was performed to generate seismic hazard maps for Jamaica. The analysis was then conducted using a standard logic-tree approach that allowed systematically taking into account the model-based (i.e., epistemic) uncertainty and its influence on the computed ground motion parameters. Hazard computations have been performed using a grid of sites with a space of 0.05 degrees. Two different computation methodologies have been adopted: the standard approach based on the definition of appropriate seismogenic sources and the zone-free approach, which overcomes the ambiguities related with the definition of the seismic sources solely reflecting the characteristics of the earthquake catalogue. A comprehensive and updated earthquake catalogue for Jamaica has been compiled for the years 1551-2010 and new empirical relationships amongst magnitudes Mze-Ms and Mw-mb have been developed for the region. Uniform hazard spectra and their uncertainty have been calculated for the horizontal component of ground motion for rock site conditions and five return periods (95, 475, 975, 2,475 and 4,975 years) and spectral accelerations for 34 structural periods ranging from 0 to 3 s, and 5% of critical damping. The spectral accelerations have been calculated to allow the definition of seismic hazard in Jamaica according to the International Building Code 2012. The disaggregation analysis for Kingston Metropolitan Area suggests that the magnitude-distance pair that contributes most to the hazard corresponds to events with M 7.8 and M 7.0 in the Enriquillo Plantain Garden Fault and the Jamaican Faults at a distance of 28 km and 18 km for short and long period structures respectively corresponding to 2,475 years return period. However, for long period structures, a substantial contribution is found for a M 8.2 at a distance of 198 km in the Oriente Fault Zone.展开更多
We perform Rayleigh wave tomography in east Guangdong and its surrounding regions by applying the ambient noise method to broadband data recorded at 26 stations from Guangdong,Fujian and Jiangxi Digital Seismic Networ...We perform Rayleigh wave tomography in east Guangdong and its surrounding regions by applying the ambient noise method to broadband data recorded at 26 stations from Guangdong,Fujian and Jiangxi Digital Seismic Networks.Cross-correlations of verticalcomponent ambient noise data are computed in one-day segments and stacked over seven months from March to September,2011.Then Rayleigh wave group dispersion curves are measured using the frequency-time analysis method.Group velocity maps at periods from5s to 15s are inverted.The resulting group velocity maps generally show good correlation with tectonic features,reflecting the velocity variations in the shallow crust.The basin areas are clearly resolved with lower group velocities at the short periods due to thick sedimentary layers,and the mountain areas with higher group velocities due to thin sedimentary layers.The variations of group velocity on the map can draw out the distribution of basins and mountains in study areas.The geothermal field can change the group velocity obviously,and lower group velocities are always found in high geothermal areas.The velocity maps indicate that a low-velocity layer may be found in the study areas.展开更多

The r...Almost all works in the field of boundary layer flow under the breaking wave consider the flow similar as the flow in an oscillating pressure tube. Although the two flows are similar, there are many differences. The results achieved in such manner are therefore also only similar to the results that can be achieved during measurements in the surf zone. Present article deals with boundary layer measurements on an inclined bottom under breaking waves. The measurements over the whole wave cycle were carried out, and the shear velocity under the breaking wave was calculated based on the measurements. It was found that there is a considerable space and time variation of the term in the surf zone. The turbulence generated during the wave breaking changes the shape of the shear velocity profile in comparison to the profile measured before breaking. As the values of shear velocity are directly correlated with the description of the whole velocity field in the wave, it can be assumed that the enhanced description of the shear velocity results in better understanding of the whole velocity field under breaking waves. Therefore, the article brings a new insight into the field and aims to make a discussion about the need to rethink the way of describing the boundary layer flow in the surf zone.展开更多
The paper investigates the effect of a single circumferential groove casing treatment(CGCT) on a transonic compressor rotor numerically.In particular,the effect of the groove at different axial locations on the flow f...The paper investigates the effect of a single circumferential groove casing treatment(CGCT) on a transonic compressor rotor numerically.In particular,the effect of the groove at different axial locations on the flow field is studied in detail and stall margin improvement is also discussed.The present results show that the groove close to the leading edge plays a crucial role in stabilizing the near stall flow structures and,hence,improves the stall margin.The groove at the mid-chord-section of the blade can help exchange and transfer momentums between different directions,and suppress the flow unsteadiness,leading to increased efficiency in rotor performance and extended operation range.The groove located near the blade trailing edge has limited effects on stall margin improvement and may cause additional penalty in efficiency.Through comparison with the recent work on CGCT,some common flow physics can be observed.展开更多

It is necessary to use BHM information efficiently to assess the working conditions of the bridge. The main objective of this study is to develop an effective method and establish a framework for the real-time reliability assessment based on BHM acceleration information. The first-passage probability and its further development have been proposed to as- sess the reliability probability. The first-passage probability shows the probability of that a scalar process exceeds a designated threshold during a given time interval. The advantage of the proposed method is the assessment of the real-time reliability probability based on the monitoring information during an assessment reference period. Furthermore, the velocity data and displacement data are calculated from the acceleration monitoring data using the relationships between their power spectral density (PSD) functions. The real-time reliability assessment of Donghai Bridge, which is the first large scale cross-sea bridge in China, demonstrates that the proposed method is efficient and effective.展开更多

Analytical expressions for axial velocity, flow rate, fluid acceleration and shear stress are obtained by applying the Laplace and finite Hankel's transforms. The velocity profiles for various values of Hartmann number, couple stress parameters and the angle of inclination are shown graphically. Also the effects of body acceleration, Womerseley parameters and permeability parameters have been discussed. The results obtained in the present mathematical model for different values of the parameters involved in the problem show that the flow of blood is influenced by the effect of magnetic field, the porous medium and the inclination angle. The present model is compared with the other existing models. Through this theoretical investigation, the applications of magnetic field have also been indicated in the field of biological, biomedical and engineering sciences.展开更多

The disaggregation analysis for Kingston Metropolitan Area suggests that the magnitude-distance pair that contributes most to the hazard corresponds to events with M 7.8 and M 7.0 in the Enriquillo Plantain Garden Fault and the Jamaican Faults at a distance of 28 km and 18 km for short and long period structures respectively corresponding to 2,475 years return period. However, for long period structures, a substantial contribution is found for a M 8.2 at a distance of 198 km in the Oriente Fault Zone.

文摘We perform Rayleigh wave tomography in east Guangdong and its surrounding regions by applying the ambient noise method to broadband data recorded at 26 stations from Guangdong,Fujian and Jiangxi Digital Seismic Networks.Cross-correlations of verticalcomponent ambient noise data are computed in one-day segments and stacked over seven months from March to September,2011.Then Rayleigh wave group dispersion curves are measured using the frequency-time analysis method.Group velocity maps at periods from5s to 15s are inverted.The resulting group velocity maps generally show good correlation with tectonic features,reflecting the velocity variations in the shallow crust.The basin areas are clearly resolved with lower group velocities at the short periods due to thick sedimentary layers,and the mountain areas with higher group velocities due to thin sedimentary layers.The variations of group velocity on the map can draw out the distribution of basins and mountains in study areas.The geothermal field can change the group velocity obviously,and lower group velocities are always found in high geothermal areas.The velocity maps indicate that a low-velocity layer may be found in the study areas.
文摘Almost all works in the field of boundary layer flow under the breaking wave consider the flow similar as the flow in an oscillating pressure tube. Although the two flows are similar, there are many differences. The results achieved in such manner are therefore also only similar to the results that can be achieved during measurements in the surf zone. Present article deals with boundary layer measurements on an inclined bottom under breaking waves. The measurements over the whole wave cycle were carried out, and the shear velocity under the breaking wave was calculated based on the measurements. It was found that there is a considerable space and time variation of the term in the surf zone. The turbulence generated during the wave breaking changes the shape of the shear velocity profile in comparison to the profile measured before breaking. As the values of shear velocity are directly correlated with the description of the whole velocity field in the wave, it can be assumed that the enhanced description of the shear velocity results in better understanding of the whole velocity field under breaking waves. Therefore, the article brings a new insight into the field and aims to make a discussion about the need to rethink the way of describing the boundary layer flow in the surf zone.

文摘The paper investigates the effect of a single circumferential groove casing treatment(CGCT) on a transonic compressor rotor numerically.In particular,the effect of the groove at different axial locations on the flow field is studied in detail and stall margin improvement is also discussed.The present results show that the groove close to the leading edge plays a crucial role in stabilizing the near stall flow structures and,hence,improves the stall margin.The groove at the mid-chord-section of the blade can help exchange and transfer momentums between different directions,and suppress the flow unsteadiness,leading to increased efficiency in rotor performance and extended operation range.The groove located near the blade trailing edge has limited effects on stall margin improvement and may cause additional penalty in efficiency.Through comparison with the recent work on CGCT,some common flow physics can be observed.

文摘Bridge health monitoring (BHM) has become increasingly significant in the life-cycle of the structure such as maintenance, repair and rehabilitation. It is necessary to use BHM information efficiently to assess the working conditions of the bridge. The main objective of this study is to develop an effective method and establish a framework for the real-time reliability assessment based on BHM acceleration information. The first-passage probability and its further development have been proposed to as- sess the reliability probability. The first-passage probability shows the probability of that a scalar process exceeds a designated threshold during a given time interval. The advantage of the proposed method is the assessment of the real-time reliability probability based on the monitoring information during an assessment reference period. Furthermore, the velocity data and displacement data are calculated from the acceleration monitoring data using the relationships between their power spectral density (PSD) functions. The real-time reliability assessment of Donghai Bridge, which is the first large scale cross-sea bridge in China, demonstrates that the proposed method is efficient and effective.
文摘Mathematical model for the pulsatile blood flow through a porous medium under the influence of periodic body acceleration for gravity flow along an inclined tube by considering blood as a couple stress, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid in the presence of magnetic field has been investigated. Analytical expressions for axial velocity, flow rate, fluid acceleration and shear stress are obtained by applying the Laplace and finite Hankel's transforms. The velocity profiles for various values of Hartmann number, couple stress parameters and the angle of inclination are shown graphically. Also the effects of body acceleration, Womerseley parameters and permeability parameters have been discussed. The results obtained in the present mathematical model for different values of the parameters involved in the problem show that the flow of blood is influenced by the effect of magnetic field, the porous medium and the inclination angle. The present model is compared with the other existing models. Through this theoretical investigation, the applications of magnetic field have also been indicated in the field of biological, biomedical and engineering sciences.

文摘The acceleration theorem of Bloch waves is utilized to construct random potential wells for classical acoustic waves in systems composed of alternating‘cavities’and‘couplers’.One prominent advantage of this method is these‘cavities’and‘couplers’are all monolayer structures.It allows forming more compact classical potential wells,which leads to the miniaturization of acoustic devices.We systematically investigate properties of harmonic,tangent,hyperbolic function,and square classical potential wells in quasi-periodic superlattices.Results show these classical potential wells are analogues of quantum potential wells.Thus some technologies and concepts in quantum potential well fields may be generalized to classical acoustic wave fields.In addition,some abnormal cases regarding forming classical potential wells are also found.

文摘The periodic one-dimensional hopping model is useful for studying the motion of microscopic particles in the thermal noise environment. Based on the explicit formulations of mean velocity, mean first passage time and effective diffusion constant, a general N internal states or even infinite internal states model can be approximated by a one state model that retains the basic properties of the original process. This effective description aids the analysis of biochemical and biophysical problems. This effective description also implies that, to some extent, many processes can be well described by simple two-state models, or even one-state models.
文摘The purpose of this work is to study the spatial dynamics of a periodic reaction-diffusion epidemic model arising from the spread of oral-faecal transmitted diseases. We first show that the disease spreading speed is coincident with the minimal wave speed for monotone periodic travelling waves. Then we obtain a threshold result on the global attractivity of either zero or the positive periodic solution in a bounded spatial domain.
