The trophic ecology of the small yellow croaker (Larimichthys polyactis) was studied using stable isotope analyses. Samples were collected from July to September 2009 and 34 individuals from eight sites were examined for stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes. Stable carbon isotope ratios (~3C) ranged from -20.67 to -15.43, while stable nitrogen isotope ratios (~SN) ranged 9.18-12.23. The relationship between fi^3C and ~SN suggested high resource partitioning in the sampling area. Significant differences in stable isotope values among the eight sampling sites may be linked to environmental diversities involving various physical processes (such as ocean current, wind and tide) and different carbon sources. Furthermore, the stable isotope ratios may also explain the ontogenetic variability in diet and feeding, because δ13C and δ15N varied significantly with increasing body size. The findings are consistent with other studies on diet analyses in small yellow croaker. It was also demonstrated that stable isotope analysis could be used to estimate the trophic characters of small yellow croaker in feeding patterns and migrating habits. 展开更多

A New Multi-platform Data Acquisition System for Power Quality Metrological Certification

In order to provide power quality monitoring activities with metrological certification, a DAS (data acquisition system) has been designed, realized and characterized. The system allows acquisition on tri-phases plus neutral lines picking up 499 samples per period of the fundamental at 50 Hz. To ensure certified measurements, the system gets external certified time and voltage references. The system uses a FTDI Virtual Com Port Driver to communicate data over High Speed RS232 virtual interface and it does not need any advanced programming skill. The choice to use a virtual serial communication makes the data acquisition software portable over many platforms, regardless by the development environment and by the programming language. To test the proposed device some custom software have been written in many programming language (C^#, VB6, LabView, MatLab), moreover in order to characterize the device the most common ADC (analog to digital converter) performing test have been applied. 展开更多

Visible and Near-Infrared Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy for Prediction of Soil Properties near a Copper Smelter 被引量:8

Spatial and temporal monitoring of soil properties in smelting regions requires collection of a large number of sam- ples followed by laboratory cumbersome and time-consuming measurements. Visible and near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (VNIR-DRS) provides a rapid and inexpensive tool to predict various soil properties simultaneously. This study evaluated the suitability of VNIR-DRS for predicting soil properties, including organic matter (OM), pH, and heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, and Fe), using a total of 254 samples collected in soil profiles near a large copper smelter in China. Partial least square regression (PLSR) with cross-validation was used to relate soil property data to the reflectance spectral data by applying different preprocessing strategies. The performance of VNIR-DRS calibration models was evaluated using the coefficient of determination in cross-validation (R^2cv) and the ratio of standard deviation to the root mean standard error of cross-validation (SD/RMSEcv). The models provided fairly accurate predictions for OM and Fe (R2v 〉 0.80, SD/RMSEcv 〉 2.00), less accurate but acceptable for screening purposes for pH, Cu, Pb, and Cd (0.50 〈 Rcv 〈 0.80, 1.40 〈 SD/RMSEcv 〈 2.00), and poor accuracy for Zn (R2v 〈 0.50, SD/RMSEcv 〈 1.40). Because soil properties in conta- minated areas generally show large variation, a comparative large number of calibrating samples, which are variable enough and uniformly distributed, are necessary to create more accurate and robust VNIR-DRS calibration models. This study indicated that VNIR-DRS technique combined with continuously enriched soil spectral library could be a nondestructive alternative for soil environment monitoring. 展开更多
