AIM:To identify the prevalence of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) and to assess the association of hepatitis B virus (HBV) core promoter mutations and viral load in Indonesian patients.METHODS:Sixty-four patients with c...AIM:To identify the prevalence of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) and to assess the association of hepatitis B virus (HBV) core promoter mutations and viral load in Indonesian patients.METHODS:Sixty-four patients with chronic hepatitis,65 with liver cirrhosis and 50 with hepatocellular carcinoma were included in this study.HBeAg and hepatitis B e antibody (HBeAb) tests were performed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and the mutations were analyzed by sequencing.Viral load was measured by real-time polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS:Of 179 patients,108 (60.3%) were HBeAg(-) and 86 (79.6%) of these HBeAg(-) patients had been seroconverted.The A1896 mutation was not found in HBeAg(+) patients,however,this mutation was detected in 70.7% of HBeAg(-) patients.This mutation was frequently found when HBeAg was not expressed (87.7%),compared to that found in HBeAg seroconverted patients (65.1%).The A1899 mutation was also more prevalent in HBeAg(-) than in HBeAg(+) patients (P=0.004).The T1762/A1764 mutation was frequently found in both HBeAg(+) and HBeAg(-) patients,however,the prevalence of this mutation did not significantly differ among the two groups (P=0.054).In HBeAg(+) patients,the T1762/A1764 mutation was correlated with lower HBV DNA (P < 0.001).The A1899 mutation did not correlate with HBV DNA (P=0.609).In HBeAg(-) patients,the T1762/A1764 mutation alone was not correlated with HBV DNA (P=0.095),however,the presence of either the T1762/A1764 or A1896 mutations was associated with increased HBV DNA (P < 0.001).CONCLUSION:The percentage of HBeAg(-) patients is high in Indonesia,and most of the HBeAg(-) patients had been seroconverted.The A1896 mutation was most likely the major cause of HBeAg loss.The T1762/A1764 mutation alone was associated with lower viral loads in HBeAg(+) patients,but not in HBeAg(-) patients.展开更多

Adsorption mechanism and dynamic adsorption o...A strongly hydrophilic hydrogen-bonding adsorbent-macroporous crosslinked poly(N- vinyl-acetamide). which contain both hydrogen bond acceptor and donator, was synthesized. Adsorption mechanism and dynamic adsorption of tannin from aqueous solution onto the adsorbent were investigated. Most of the differential adsorption heats for various adsorption capacities calculated from the adsorption isotherms according to Clapeyron-Clausius equation lay in the range of hydrogen bond energy (8-50kJ/mol). Adsorption properties of the adsorbent were studied in detail. These results revealed a hydrogen bonding mechanism of the adsorption of tannin from aqueous solution onto the adsorbent. The result of the dynamic adsorption of tanning with the initial concentration under 600 mg/L showed that the adsorption rate of tannin exceeded 90% when the flow rate was 3BV/h and the effluent volume reached 100 BV. Therefore, the developed hydrogen-bonding adsorbent--macroporous crosslinked poly(N-vinyl-acetamide)—is an excellent adsorbent to remove tannin from extract of natural products. and has great value in application.展开更多

The differential adsorption heats for varied adsorption capacities calculated from the adsorption isotherms according to the Clapeyron-Clausius equation lay in the range of hydrogen bond energy (8-50kJ/mol). The adsorption capacity of o-nitrophenol in cyclohexane was much less than that of phenol under the same condition. The adsorption capacity of phenol from cyclohexane onto polyacrylonitile was much less than that onto poly(p-nitrostyrene) or poly(p-vinylbenzyl amide). All these results revealed that adsorption of phenol from cyclohexane by poly(p-nitrostyrene) or poly(p-vinylbenzyl amide) is based on hydrogen-bonding.展开更多
To characterize the pore features of outburst coal samples and investigate whether outburst coal has some unique features or not, one of the authors, working as the member of the State Coal Mine Safety Committee of Ch...To characterize the pore features of outburst coal samples and investigate whether outburst coal has some unique features or not, one of the authors, working as the member of the State Coal Mine Safety Committee of China, sampled nine outburst coal samples(coal powder and block) from outburst disaster sites in underground coal mines in China, and then analyzed the pore and surface features of these samples using low temperature nitrogen adsorption tests. Test data show that outburst powder and block coal samples have similar properties in both pore size distribution and surface area. With increasing coal rank, the proportion of micropores increases, which results in a higher surface area. The Jiulishan samples are rich in micropores, and other tested samples contain mainly mesopores, macropores and fewer micropores. Both the unclosed hysteresis loop and force closed desorption phenomena are observed in all tested samples. The former can be attributed to the instability of the meniscus condensation in pores,interconnected pore features of coal and the potential existence of ink-bottle pores, and the latter can be attributed to the non-rigid structure of coal and the gas affinity of coal.展开更多

METHODS: In total, 199 oral squamous-cell carcinoma (SCC), 317 esophagea! SCC, 196 gastric cardia and non-cardia adenocarcinoma and 240 colon adenocarcinoma patients were recruited for serum tests of Hpylori infection. Two hospital- and one community-based control groups were used for the comparisons. Hpylori seropositivity was determined by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay method against Hpylori IgG. RESULTS: Presence of H pylori infection was significantly inversely associated with esophageal SCC [adjusted odds ratio (AOR): 0.315-0.472, all P-value 〈 0.05] but positively associated with gastric adenocarcinoma (both cardia and non-cardia) (AOR: 1.636-3.060, all P-value 〈 0.05) in comparison to the three control groups. Similar results were not found in cancers of the oral cavity and colon. CONCLUSION: Our findings support the finding that H pylori seropositivity is inversely associated with esophageal SCC risk, but increases the risk of gastric cardia adenocarcinoma.展开更多

However, the influence of loading sequence on the dragload and downdrag for pile foundation is seldom studied. In this paper, a three-dimensional numerical model was established using FLAC3D. Compared with the results of model test, the established model could be used to study the NSF of pile foundation. The influencing factors were discussed including the length-diameter ratio of pile and the loading sequence of pile head load and surcharge. A case history was analyzed using FLAC3D. The calculated results are in good agreement with the measured results. It is concluded that the dragload and downdrag are remarkably influenced by the loading sequence of pile head load and surcharge. The dragload and downdrag reach the maximum values under the condition of surcharge after pile head load.展开更多

Among the few...The growing importance of the new technologies raises the question of the relationship between the individual and the digital world. One of the main motivations of internet usage is social communication. Among the few studies concerning internet usage and the attachment, most suggest a predisposition of insecure people to the excessive internet usage. All participants completed two self-administered questionnaires: RSQ (relationship scale questionnaire) and 1AT (internet addiction test). The self-administered questionnaires were put online: The link to the form was distributed by emails and social networks. Our results show a link between attachment anxiety and problematic internet usage. Internet could provide people having an attachment anxiety style a more reassuring environment to interact with others. The attachment preoccupation is a factor related to the problematic Intemet usage. A management that takes into account the motivations related to attachment may reduce recourse to the virtual world.展开更多

The previous works on this issue focus whether on the methods of navigation in a given network structure,or on the effects of additional information to the searching process. In this paper, the authors emphasize that the growth and shape of network architecture is tightly related to the individuals' attributes. The authors introduce a method to reconstruct nodes' intimacy degree based on local interaction. Then we provide an intimacy based approach for orientation in networks. The authors find that the basic reason of efficient search in social networks is that the degree of "intimacy" of each pair of nodes decays with the length of their shortest path exponentially. Meanwhile, the model can explain the hubs limitation which was observed in real-world experiment.展开更多
