In order to analyze the electrostatic field concerned with electrostatic proximity fuze problem using the available finite analysis software package, the technology to model the problem with a scale reduction object and boundary was presented. The boundary is determined by the maximum distance the sensor can detect. The object model is obtained by multiplying the terms in Poisson's equation with a scale reduction factor and the real value can be reconstructed with the same reverse process after software calculation. Using the finite element analysis program, the simulation value is close to the theoretical value with a little error. The boundary determination and scale reduction method is suitable to modeling the irregular electrostatic field around air targets, such as airplane, missile and so on, which is based on commonly used personal computer (PC). The technology reduces the calculation and storage cost greatly. 展开更多

This paper reports the intrinsic-structure DC characteristics computed from the analytical electrochemical current theory of the bipolar field-effect transistor (BiFET) with two identical MOS gates on nanometer-thick pure-base of silicon with no generation-recombination-trapping. Numerical solutions are rapidly obtained for the three potential variables,electrostatic and electron and hole electrochemical potentials,to give the electron and hole surface and volume channel currents,using our cross-link two-route or zig-zag one-route recursive iteration algorithms. Boundary conditions on the three potentials dominantly affect the intrinsic-structure DC characteristics,illustrated by examples covering 20-decades of current (10-22 to 10-2 A/Square at 400cm^2/(V · s) mobility for 1.5nm gate-oxide, and 30nm-thick pure-base). Aside from the domination of carrier space-charge-limited drift current in the strong surface channels,observed in the theory is also the classical drift current saturation due to physical pinch-off of an impure-base volume channel depicted by the 1952 Shockley junction-gate field-effect transistor theory,and its extension to complete cut-off of the pure-base volume channel,due to vanishing carrier screening by the few electron and hole carriers in the pure-base,with Debye length (25mm) much larger than device dimension (25nm). 展开更多

Static corrections using the conventional method are basically conducted in two steps, the weathering correction followed by the correction from the top of the sub-weathering to the unified datum. However, the conventional method fails to well deal with statics problems in case the top of the sub-weathering is sharply undulated and the lateral velocity of the sub-weathering varies significantly. This brings us to the introduction of a smooth intermediate reference datum (IRD) located under the top of the sub-weathering, which helps to further increase the accuracy of statics based on the weathering corrections, and ensures the imaging quality. Good results based on the IRD technique have been achieved in the complex areas in western China. This paper discusses the IRD functions, its application requirements, and selection of related parameters. Some typical sections for comparison are also given in this paper. 展开更多

A mechanical model of the quasi-static interface of a mode I crack between a rigid and a pressure-sensitive viscoelastic material was established to investigate the mechanical characteristic of ship-building engineering hi-materials. In the stable growth stage, stress and strain have the same singularity, ie (σ, ε) ∝ r^-1/(n-1). The variable-separable asymptotic solutions of stress and strain at the crack tip were obtained by adopting Airy's stress function and the numerical results of stress and strain in the crack-tip field were obtained by the shooting method. The results showed that the near-tip fields are mainly governed by the power-hardening exponent n and the Poisson ratio v of the pressure-sensitive material. The fracture criterion of mode I quasi-static crack growth in pressure-sensitive materials, according to the asymptotic analyses of the crack-tip field, can be viewed from the perspective of strain. 展开更多

Ecological reactive powder concrete (ECO-RPC) with small sized and differentvolume fraction steel fibers was prepared by substitution of ultra-fine industrial waste powder for50% to 60% cement by weight and replacement of ground fine quartz sand with natural fine aggregate.The effect of steel fiber volume fraction and curing ages on the static mechanical behaviour ofECO-RPC was studied. Using the split Hopkinson pressure bar technique, the dynamic mechanicalbehaviour of ECO-RPC was investigated under different strain rates. The results show that the staticmechanical behaviour of ECO-RPC increases with the increase of steel fiber volume fraction andcuring ages. The type of ECO-RPC with the substitution of 25% ultra-fine slag, 25% ultra-fine flyash and 10% silica fume is better than the others with compressive strength, flexural strength, andfracture energy more than 200 MPa, 60 MPa and 30 kJ/m^2, respectively. ECO-RPC has excellent strainrate stiffening effects under dynamic load. Its peak stress, peak strain and the area understrain-stress curve increase with the increase of strain rate. Its fracture pattern changes frombrittleness to toughness under high strain rates. 展开更多

Density functional theory is applied to predicting the structures and electrostatic potentials of planar electrochemical surfaces within the framework of the restricted primitive model where small ions are represented by charged hard spheres of equal diameter and the solvent is assumed to be a continuous dielectric medium. The hard-sphere contribution to the excess Helmholtz energy functional is evaluated using the modified fundamentalmeasure theory and the electrostatic contribution is obtained from the quadratic functional Taylor expansion using the second-order direct correlation function from the mean-spherical approximation. Numerical results for the ionic density profiles and the mean electrostatic potentials near a planar surface of various charge densities are in excellent agreement with molecular simulations. In contrast to the modified Gouy-Chapman theory, the present density functional theory correctly predicts the second layer formation and charge inversion of charged surfaces as observed in simulations and in experiments. The theory has also been tested with the zeta potentials of positively charged polystyrene particles in aqueous solutions of KBr. Good agreement is achieved between the calculated and experimental results. 展开更多

AIM:To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of intravenous ketamine-midazolam sedation during pediatric endoscopy in the Arab world.METHODS:A retrospective cohort study of all pediatric endoscopic procedures performed between 2002-2008 at the shared endoscopy suite of King Abdullah University Hospital,Jordan University of Science & Technology,Jordan was conducted.All children were > 1 year old and weighed > 10 kg with American Society of Anesthesiologists class 1 or 2.Analysis was performed in terms of sedation-related complications(desaturation,respiratory distress,apnea,bradycar-dia,cardiac arrest,emergence reactions),adequacy of sedation,need for sedation reversal,or failure to complete the procedure.RESULTS:A total of 301 patients(including 160 males) with a mean age of 9.26 years(range,1-18 years) were included.All were premedicated with atropine;and 79.4%(239/301) had effective and uneventful sedation.And 248(82.4%) of the 301 patients received a mean dose of 0.16 mg/kg(range,0.07-0.39) midazolam and 1.06 mg/kg(range,0.31-2.67) ketamine,respectively within the recommended dosage guidelines.Recommended maximum midazolam dose was exceeded in 17.6% patients [34 female(F):19 male(M),P = 0.003] and ketamine in 2.7%(3 M:5 F).Maximum midazolam dose was more likely to be exceeded than ketamine(P < 0.001).Desaturation occurred in 37(12.3%) patients,and was reversible by supplemental oxygen in all except 4 who continue to have desaturation despite supplemental oxygen.Four(1.3%) patients had respiratory distress and 6(2%) were difficult to sedate and required a 3rd sedative;12(4%) required reversal and 7(2.3%) failed to complete the procedure.None developed apnea,bradycardia,arrest,or emergence reactions.CONCLUSION:Ketamine-midazolam sedation appears safe and effective for diagnostic pediatric gastrointestinal endoscopy in the Arab world for children aged > 1 year and weighing > 10 kg without co-morbidities. 展开更多

The Ti−6Al−4V(TC4)alloy powder and forged solid were diffusion bonded by hot isostatic pressing(HIP)to fabricate a powder−solid part.The microstructure of the powder−solid part was observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).The microhardness and tensile tests were conducted to investigate the mechanical properties.The results showed that the powder compact was near-fully dense,and the powder/solid interface was tight and complete.The microhardness of the interface was higher than that of the powder compact and solid.The fractures of all powder−solid tensile specimens were on the solid side rather than at the interface,which indicated that a good interfacial strength was obtained.The tensile strength and elongation of the powder compact were higher than those of the solid.It is concluded that the HIP process can successfully fabricate high-quality Ti−6Al−4V powder−solid parts,which provides a novel near net shape technology for titanium alloys. 展开更多

Both static and dynamic response equations as well as the corresponding natural boundary conditions of the box girder are deduced. Meanwhile, three generalized displacement functions: w (x) , U(x) and O(x) are employed and their differences in the calculus of variation are quantitatively investigated. Many analytical methods have been adopted to estimate the slope stability by providing various stability numbers,e.g.static safety of factor(static FoS)or the critical seismic acceleration coefficient,while little attention has been given to the relationship between the slope stability numbers and the critical seismic acceleration coefficient.This study aims to investigate the relationship between the static FoS and the critical seismic acceleration coefficient of soil slopes in the framework of the upper-bound limit analysis.Based on the 3D rotational failure mechanism,the critical seismic acceleration coefficient using the pseudo-static method and the static FoS using the strength reduction technique are first determined.Then,the relationship between the static FoS and the critical seismic acceleration coefficient is presented under considering the slope angleβ,the frictional angleφ,and the dimensionless coefficients B/H and c/γH.Finally,a fitting formula between the static FoS and the critical seismic acceleration coefficient is proposed and validated by analytical and numerical results. 展开更多

We extend the recent formulation of the Ewald sum for electrostatics in a two-dimensionally periodic three-dimensional multi- atom layer or two-dimensional single-atom layer system with a rectangular periodic boundary condition (J Chem Theory, Comput, 2014, 10: 534-542) to that with a parallelogrammic periodic boundary condition in general. Following the discussion of an efficient implementation of the formula, we suggest a simple setup of parameters using a relatively smaller screening factor and the associated larger real space cutoff distance to reach an optimized algorithm of an order N computational cost. The connection between the previous application of the Ewald sum to ionic crystal systems and the future application to mo- lecular self-assembly or disassembly systems on solid surfaces or at liquid-liquid interfaces ate illustrated to demonstrate the applicability of the present work to simulate the self-assembly process and to produce dynamical, structural and thermody- namic properties of experimental self-assembly systems of interest. 展开更多

The effect of electric charge on the mechanical properties of graphene under tensile loading is investigated by using molecular dynamics method.A modified atomistic moment method based on the classical electrostatics theory is proposed to obtain the distribution of extra charges induced by an external electric field and net electric charges stored in graphene.The electrostatic interactions between charged atoms are calculated using the coulomb law.The results show that the Young's modulus and the critical fracture stress under uniaxial tension decrease with the increase of electric potential and net charges on graphene.The failure of graphene induced by electric charges is found to be controlled by charge level.The results indicate that the carbon-carbon bonds at the edge of graphene will break first. 展开更多

It is well known that Hawking radiation can be treated as a quantum tunneling process of particles from the event horizon of black hole. In this paper, we attempt to apply the massive vector bosons tunneling method to study the Hawking radiation from the non-rotating and rotating dilaton black holes. Starting with the Proca field equation that govern the dynamics of massive vector bosons, we derive the tunneling probabilities and radiation spectrums of the emitted vector bosons from the static spherical symmetric dilatonic black hole, the rotating Kaluza–Klein black hole,and the rotating Kerr–Sen black hole. Comparing the results with the blackbody spectrum, we satisfactorily reproduce the Hawking temperatures of these dilaton black holes, which are consistent with the previous results in the literature. 展开更多

To this end, an explicit Lyapunov function as a weighted and squared H2-norm of a small perturbation of the stationary solution is constructed. The authors show that by a suitable choice of the boundary feedback conditions, the H2- exponential stability of the stationary solution follows. Due to this fact, the system is stabilized over an infinite time interval. Furthermore, exponential estimates for the C norm are derived. 展开更多
