基于大学生领导力开发的《领导学》教学改革省思

《领导学》课程有助于提高当代大学生综合素质,培养其思考问题、解决问题的能力,从而提升社会整体竞争力,也是大学生领导力开发的重要渠道之一。但由于起步较晚等原因,当前中国高校的《领导学》课程教学仍然存在认识不深入、偏重理论课程,以及忽视实践教学和课程设置等问题,对大学生领导力开发的效能发挥不足。为了有效开发大学生领导力,应该从全面推广《领导学》课程,提升学生重视程度,充分发挥实践教育作用和完善课程体系这几方面入手,推进《领导学》教学改革。

新时期高校领导力与研发人员的创新行为研究——评《领导力行为学》

领导力指在管理范围内充分利用人力资源与客观条件、以最小的成本和较高的团队效率成功完成任务的能力,与高校发展密不可分。研发人员是高校的重要团队之一,其创新行为的发生意愿对高校是否拥有自主创新能力和强劲竞争力有决定性的影响。而具有优秀领导力的高校管理者能够激发研发人员的创新行为,为高校发展谋求更多机遇,增强高校的实力与竞争力。

努力促进领导工作的科学化、民主化——学习《领导学通论》的现实意义

时代的进步和发展离不开有效的领导,领导工作的科学化和民主化是有效领导的必然选择。20世纪30年代以来,人们对领导问题给予了充分的关注并提出了各种理论,这既反映了社会的发展和认识的深化,又推动了领导工作的科学化和民主化。当代中国的发展所面临的机遇和挑战,对领导工作提出了更高更新的要求,各级领导者必须掌握正确的理论,不断提高领导能力和领导水平,实现领导方式的变革和创新,努力促进领导工作的科学化、民主化,才能切实推动我国社会主义现代化建设事业的不断发展。

Characteristics of Science and Scientific Activities： Considerations about What Is and What Is Not Scientific

The paper deals with non-traditional but highly needed issues： to formulate criteria of a scientific activity. It is really unbelievable that in the period of information and scientific society such criteria do not exist and there are no fixed rules for assessment of scientific activities. However, in many fields of science, e.g., in reviews of scientific works or papers, reviewers are asked to assess whether or not the submitted work or text is scientific. Naturally, this decision is not objective even if done by leading scientific individuals. Scientists may possess rather different individual criteria, and especially in doctoral studies, but not only there, it is desirable to make the review more objective. A doctoral thesis should be accepted only in case it brings some scientific achievement. Keeping in mind how difficult it can be to formalize and evaluate science, the authors try to propose attributes of scientific activities and to formulate some basic recommendations how to assess scientific work. Of course, the paper does not intend to formulate any generally imperative rules, but rather to start a broader discussion of these topics.

Analysis on Evaluating Comprehensive Efficiency of Enterprise Leaders＇ Performance Based on Scientific Development Outlook

In former researches there are primary theoretical studies and qualitative analyses on enterprise leaders＇ effectiveness and performance, and there are a few studies on quantitative analyses which mostly relies on the method of comparing differences and ratio of divergence to evaluate leaders＇ performance by stage statistics. This paper illustrates how to evaluate Comprehensive Efficiency （CE） based on Scientific Development Outlook, which reflects overall development of enterprise leaders＇ performance, depends on measuring Output Efficiency Index （OEI） and Cost Efficiency Index （CEI） of enterprise leaders＇ performance, and adopts the C^2R model in Data Envelopment Analysis （DEA）.

A study on directors＇ remuneration and board committee in Malaysia

Researches on company directors＇ remuneration and its links with firms＇ performance and corporate governance have drawn wide attention as stakeholders are interested to find out whether directors received the right package of remuneration and whether it is always in line with the firm＇s performance and corporate governance policy. However, there is a lack of study examining the impact of specific board committee on directors＇ remuneration, particularly in emerging capital and financial market. This study, involving 120 Malaysian public listed companies, aims to examine this association. The study employs descriptive analysis, Pearson＇s correlation test and multivariate stepwise statistical technique. The result of the study indicates that there is a positive relationship between directors＇ remuneration with board executive committee, remuneration committee, nomination committee and corporate governance committee. The result also indicates negative relationship between directors＇ remuneration with employees share option scheme committee. However, all these associations are not significant, except ownership structure that is used as a control variable. This result prompts a need to reexamine the effectiveness of corporate governance practice through establishment of board committee in determining directors＇ remuneration.

Does Aristotelian Magnanimity Exclude Women？

This article studies whether Aristotle＇s understanding of magnanimity excludes women. I examine Aristotle＇s concept of the biological, moral, and intellectual capacities of women in theory and practice. Although Aristotle＇s biology describes key differences between the sexes, it does not exclude women from magnanimity. While the ethical and political writings also note key differences between men and women, they leave the theoretical possibility of attaining magnanimity open. Practically, the lack of leadership opportunities available to actual women may hinder the development of prudence, leading to an inability to achieve complete virtue and hence magnanimity. Thus, if women are unable to be magnanimous, this is due to practical political and familial arrangements, not to innate feminine defects. This finding provides a unique argument for feminine leadership and political participation. Truly exceptional women may need to actively seek out leadership opportunities and political involvement in order to complete their virtue

Design and Validation of Leadership Education Integrating Simulation and Project Based Learning

All engineering students need to develop their important skills of leadership in project management. Many students have never been leaders in their social and school lives. A leading role is unimaginable to them and hence they cannot imagine how to achieve it. The purpose of this paper is to report a result of a new leadership education program which links a variety of simulated experiences with real actions of students in project based learning （PBL） to develop their leadership ability. The first step is for graduate students to gain knowledge in the leadership arena. Then, they utilize simulation to experience leadership actions many times. Simulation provides a safe environment in which they can try out many different approaches in taking leadership in various situations. In the next step, students as a team utilize PBL, so that the above simulated experiences can help them to actually take leadership. Students can apply trained leadership to actual projects. It is highly effective to apply conscious leadership to a project aimed at a specific goal in limited circumstances. This education repeats both of the steps above, raising leadership abilities in an upward spiral. In terms of students＇ evaluation of leadership education in project management, 360-degree assessments were carried out by teachers, senior, and junior students before and after the course, and authors compare their assessments thoroughly. As a result, authors are assured that students not only gained knowledge but also raised leadership abilities in their actions after this education. Six months after the time of leadership education employing simulated experiences and PBL, follow-up interviews were conducted on its effects. Authors recognized the cyclic period that students apply simulated experiences to PBL and that they seek different approaches in simulation for solving problems found in reality. This research concludes that this cycle of simulator and PBL can produce effective leadership actions.

Interactive Teaching in Interpersonal Skills

Engineers are very much part of the ongoing globalization and they are encountering problems of cross-disciplinary nature Team working skills respecting other peoples＇ qualifications are required so therefore interpersonal skills are becoming more and more important, including communications skills, leadership and awareness. Consequently, educational programs for teaching engineers should work with the fact that the capability of communicating with people with different background competences is important, nevertheless the engineering education has traditionally focused on technical skills rather than on personal development. In order to reform the B.Sc. courses to guide students to become better and more efficient engineers on all levels, the DTU （Technical University of Denmark） and Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences （Metropolia） modified their education according to the CDIO （conceive, design, implement and operate） approach in the autumn of 2008. The CDIO pedagogy encouraged to develop an interactive course in interpersonal skills, where the students have to take an active part in the exercises as well as involve themselves in the interactive communication process. The course consists of various exercises from which the participants will develop their awareness and knowledge of communication. It is the intention to give the students a personal understanding and idea of a different approach to communicating between people. The students evaluated the course, and the four key questions dealing with the quality of the course show a very high satisfaction with the instruction. The grades one and two （1 best/very much, 5 worst/very little） of the responses ＂to these four questions are ranging on average from 69.5% to 88% （on a yearly basis）. The positive responses indicate that the students are very satisfied with the course recognizing the need for education on international communication.

Involvement of Girls in Leadership in Primary Schools in Voi Sub-county, Kenya

Women in Kenya are underrepresented in decision-making positions, which appears as a remnant of persisting cultural gender roles that limit women from participating in activities critical for personal, societal, and national development. Such retrogressive ideas regarding a large number of the country＇s citizens have to be addressed early in the life of a girl to build in girls＇ self-esteem and facilitate them to develop leadership skills. This study investigated the extent to which girls in primary schools in Voi sub-county are involved in leadership in their schools. The study was based on the 2010 Kenya＇s constitution which ruled that no more than two-thirds of elected or appointed public institutions leaders should consist of one gender. The new legal framework seeks to break down the barriers women face in realizing their political, civil, economic, and social rights. It also ensures that women are involved in decision-making at all levels of government. In this study, data was collected from three mixed primary schools in Voi sub-county given codes A, B, and C. School A had a total of 470 pupils; 225 were boys and 245 were girls and the school had 21 leadership positions. The findings showed that the majority 14 （66.7%） of the leadership positions were occupied by boys while the few 7 （33.3%） were occupied by girls. In school B, there were a total of 1,056 pupils; 498 were boys and 558 were girls. There were 13 leadership positions. The majority of the positions 7 （53.8 %） were occupied by boys and minority 6 （46.2%） were occupied by girls. In school C, there were a total of 1,450 pupils and 680 were boys and 770 girls. There were 13 leadership positions. The majority 7 （53.8%） of the positions were occupied by boys while 6 （46.2%） were occupied by girls. In all the schools, there were more girls than boys but boys occupied more leadership positions than girls. Boys also took senior positions and girls were their deputies and were not as active as boys in areas such as class discussions and debate. It was recommended that conscious effort should be made to develop leadership skills in girls during their formative years.

On the Importance of the American Black Fraternity and Its Enlightenment for the Fellow Townsmen Association in Chinese Universities

This paper first analyzes the benefits offered by the American Black Fraternities to the black college students in terms of improving academic achievement, cultivating leadership abilities, and enhancing social involvement on campus. Based on the successful experience of the American Black Fraternities, this paper further explores solutions to the serious problems existing in the Fellow Townsmen Association in Chinese universities to make it the same valuable asset for the development of the members＇ personality and comprehensive quality. The Association should be leveled up to an official student society to solve many of its managerial problems, and set a group goal to direct its members to the right track of serious study and completely transform the form and the content of its activities to improve the social skills of its members.

Out of concern over nuclear weapons proliferation,the worry over DPRK nuclear testing is overwrought.The author sees the situation from the viewpoint of a geopolitical game in a non-proliferation mask.To attempt a geopolitical game using non-proliferation is wrongly directed,but this is the main reason the issue fluctuates and deadlocks occasionally.To solve the situation once and for all,the international community needs to recognize its geopolitical nature and cure the problem accordingly.Since DPRK leader Kim Jong-Un crossed the border April 27 to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in,the destiny of the Korean Peninsula is,as it should be,in the hands of the Koreans,not Chinese or Americans.

New Leader＇s Image-shaping of Hua Guofeng

The process ofHua Guofeng＇s image shows how political manipulates the literature and art, it is also a performance process of ideology. Data-Driven Leader-Follower Output Synchronization for Networked Non-Linear Multi-Agent Systems with Switching Topology and Time-Varying Delays

This paper studies the output synchronization problem for a class of networked non-linear multi-agent systems with switching topology and time-varying delays. To synchronize the outputs,a leader is introduced whose connectivity to the followers varies with time, and a novel data-driven consensus protocol based on model free adaptive control is proposed, where the reference input of each follower is designed to be the time-varying average of the neighboring agents＇ outputs. Both the case when the leader is with a prescribed reference input and the case otherwise are considered.The proposed protocol allows for time-varying delays, switching topology, and does not use the agent structure or the dynamics information implicitly or explicitly. Sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the closed-loop stability, and conditions for consensus convergence are obtained, where only a joint spanning tree is required. Numerical simulations and practical experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed protocol.

Beyond an Elegant Political Slogan： Reading the Mass Line through the Lens of Methods

The mass line （ML） played a significant role in the history of the Communist Party of China （CPC） and was incorporated into the CPC＇s Constitution as the fundamental line for all work. However, to most people, the ML would sound more like an elegant political slogan than an effective method for solving problems. This paper interprets the essence of the ML as a philosophical method of knowing the world, a political method of leadership and a practical method of solving problems. In the new era of rule of law, the ML is also considered as a potential approach to democracy in China. The paper also criticizes the problems of the ML and proposes some suggestions against the comparison with the Western political systems. The paper will provide readers with a more comprehensive understanding of the ML, and the political philosophy in China.
