For doing so, a two-stage least-squares model was used. It encompassed instrumental variables that attempt to describe the effective determinants of firm's vertical integration willingness. Results based on data concerning a set of 130 food-manufacturing firms, highlighted that vertical integration of a firm is strongly affected by internal incentives such as innovation rate and firm size. Moreover, it is simultaneously influenced by the economies of scale and some structure incentives. To conclude, results indicate globally that important and statistically significant differences exist across the studied firms and the small effective ones which acquire a high level of vertical integration. 展开更多

In this study, urban environmental condition using Terra ASTER (advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer) remotely sensed satellite imagery was estimated and compared to statistically derived socioeconomic condition data from Semarang Municipality in Central Java Province: Indonesia. From satellite imagery: U1 (urban index) and NDVI (normalized difference vegetation index) were calculated and used that information to construct urban density and vegetation distribution maps of the study area. Urban density and vegetation distribution were combined to estimate urban environmental condition; then compared to socioeconomic conditions. The results revealed that the Semarang Municipality had a higher percentage of developed or urbanized areas (49%) compared to the percentage of area covered by vegetation (42%). In general, southern Semarang had a higher quality urban environment and socioeconomic condition compared to northern Semarang, which had a higher urban density, lower quality urban environment and lower socioeconomic condition. The indicate that socioeconomic condition can be determined using satellite-derived urban and vegetation indices even in places like Semarang Municipality, where the population settlement was sparse and unorganized. 展开更多

In mountain regions such as Lake Sevan basin, landscape-ecological problems are manifested sharply. Lake Sevan basin lies in the east of the RA (Republic of Armenia) and is characterized by unique natural and economic peculiarities. It covers an area of 4,891 km^2, or 16% of the entire territory of the country. The article considers the dynamics of the ecosystems of Lake Sevan basin through remote sensing data. To achieve the stated goal, multi-zonal satellite images Landsat ETM (Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus), Landsat TM (Thematic Mapper) and Landsat MSS (Multispectral Scanner) were applied. All satellite imagery data was geometrically and atmospherically corrected. Temporal changes were determined using both a supervised classification approach and NDVI (normalized difference vegetation index) in that time series. Supervised procedure, a hierarchical land cover classification system was used to detect the different land cover classes in the Lake Sevan basin, Armenia. According to this system, four land cover categories exist in this area: (1) water; (2) vegetation-bare; (3) man-altered land; (4) vegetated land, which indicate that for the last 40 years the study area has displayed expansion of man-made landscapes and vegetation-bare sites, ecosystems having lower biomass and reduction of woodlands. NDVI values and the area they covered indicate that between 1973 and 2011, the area of almost non-vegetated lands increased approximately by three times. The main cause of such changes is activation of erosion processes as a result of a climate warming. 展开更多

Effective assessment is inseparable from good teaching and learning. Just as a good tutor would practice different techniques of teaching, an assessor would usually use different strategies of assessment. Moreover, the different activities of assessment, such as teaching, are additionally executed at various times during the semester, thus, we can know in which way the student is learning. An assessment strategy lays out a well thoroughly considered choice of assessment methods that are aligned with the aims and learning outcomes. Because align the assessment with a specific kind of learning outcome, the tutor needs to choose a suitable technique of assessment. This paper draws upon a case study of the first year architectural design at Pharos University as another way to deal with realizing "how to design your assessment plan". Throughout the form of criteria based assessment, assessment can help to review the students and instructors feeling and reactions. Finally, we can learn to assist towards enhancing student learning through assessment. So, we can attract the consideration regarding the advantages of reviewing current assessment practices, and of accepting different ways to deal with assessment methods, in this manner profiting together student and tutor. 展开更多
