CT images were reconstructed to build up 3D digital specimen, and the viscoelastic properties of mastic were described with Burgers model The uniaxial creep numerical simulations of three different levels of aggregate gradation were conducted. The simulation results agree well with the experimental results. The numerical simulation of asphalt mixture incorporated with real 3D microstructure based on finite element method is a promising application to conduct research of asphalt concrete. Additionally, this method can increase the mechanistic understanding of global viscoelastic properties of asphalt mixtures by linking the real 3D microstructure.展开更多

We present the case of a 30-year-old woman with type Ⅳ-A CC, on whom threedimensional computed tomography (3D CT) and virtual endoscopy were performed. 3D CT revealed partial dilatation in the posterior branch of the intrahepatic bile duct and a relative stricture between it and the extrahepatic bile duct. Virtual endoscopy showed that this stricture was membrane-like and separated from the surrounding blood vessels. Based on these image findings, complete cyst resection, bile duct plasty for the stricture, and hepaticojejunostomy were safely performed. To the best of our knowledge, there are no reports of imaging by virtual endoscopy of the biliary tract which show the surrounding blood vessels running along the bile duct.展开更多

But usually the bone fragments are lost on the roadside and are not usable. We report a patient who was involved in a head-on collision between two wheelers and presented with a bone fragment embedded in his thigh. Radiological survey revealed no bony injury in that patient. Another patient, who presented at the same time, sustained a segmental fracture of shaft femur and was found to have lost a bone fragment that was similar to the one found in previous patient. CT scan with 3D reconstruction revealed this missing fragment to be the same as that found in previous patient. Both patients had a history of head-on collision while travelling on a two-wheeler. Present case report throws some highlights on the probable mechanism of injury.展开更多
