Its structure was deduced as 7β hydroxy 3,11,15 trioxo lanosta 8 en 24→20s lactone (1) on the basis of spectral analysis (UV, IR, MS. 1H NMR, 13 C NMR and 2D NMR) and was confirmed by X ray diffraction. Compounds 1–7 inhibited protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B(PTP1B) activity, with IC50 values ranging from(7.5±0.5) to(22.7±0.5) μmol/L.
