The paper traces back women like Celie, Shug, Sofia or Nettie engaged in journeys of self-discovery and development, ones that follow predicted feminist patterns, who try to get free from any dominance, either be it m...The paper traces back women like Celie, Shug, Sofia or Nettie engaged in journeys of self-discovery and development, ones that follow predicted feminist patterns, who try to get free from any dominance, either be it male, social or cultural. The colour purple signifies a metaphysical, social and personal rebirth reflected into different shades by their inner self. The social oppression for black women in their quest for freedom is the main theme of Walker's novel The Color Purple, written in the epistolary technique of Samuel Richardson's in the XVIllth century English novel. In our attempt to analyse the theme and the female characters of the novel we are also trying to cross a bridge from the slave woman of the past belonging to a completely different culture and race to the contemporary paradigm of the liberated woman. The movement in time encompasses possible similitudes and differences.展开更多
Low magnetic susceptibility, low Sr content and hence high Rb/Sr ratio in the lake sediment sequence indicate a weak chemical weathering process under arid and cold climate of the Little Ice Age in a single closed lak...Low magnetic susceptibility, low Sr content and hence high Rb/Sr ratio in the lake sediment sequence indicate a weak chemical weathering process under arid and cold climate of the Little Ice Age in a single closed lake watershed. According to different geochemical behavior between rubidium and strontium in earth surface processes, variation of Rb/Sr ratios in the lake sediment sequence can be used as an effective geochemical proxy with definite climatic significance of chemical weathering in watershed. Unlike chemical weathering process in tropic zone and modern temperate-humid climate, concordant changes in both Sr content and magnetic susceptibility with δ18O values of Dunde ice core suggest that the weak chemical weathering was controlled by air temperature during the Little Ice Age maximum. After the Little Ice Age, chemical weathering intensity was controlled also gradually by precipitation with increasing in temperature.展开更多
The theoretical energy consumption(TEC)analytical methods and the calculated models for the electrolytic and thermal reduction metal separation processes have been put forward based on thermodynamics and physical chem...The theoretical energy consumption(TEC)analytical methods and the calculated models for the electrolytic and thermal reduction metal separation processes have been put forward based on thermodynamics and physical chemistry principles,providing theoretical foundation for choosing the optimum metal separation methods.Based on the models,the TECs of the Mg separation processes are taken as an example,and have been calculated and analyzed contrastively,including the MgCl_2 electrolytic method,the MgO electrolytic method with inert electrode and with carbon anode,and the silicothermic method.It is shown that the thermal method is more reasonable than the electrolytic methods to separate Mg under low efficiency of coal power generation.展开更多
