The flow behavior of pressure-driven water infiltration through graphene-based slit nanopores has been studied by molecular simulation.The simulated flow rate is close to the experimental values,which demonstrates the...The flow behavior of pressure-driven water infiltration through graphene-based slit nanopores has been studied by molecular simulation.The simulated flow rate is close to the experimental values,which demonstrates the reasonability of simulation results.Water molecules can spontaneously infiltrate into the nanopores,but an external driving force is generally required to pass through the whole pores.The exit of nanopore has a large obstruction on the water effusion.The flow velocity within the graphene nanochannels does not display monotonous dependence upon the pore width,indicating that the flow is related to the microscopic structures of water confined in the nanopores.Extensive structures of confined water are characterized in order to understand the flow behavior.This simulation improves the understanding of graphene-based nanofluidics,which helps in developing a new type of membrane separation technique.展开更多

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture plus occupation therapy for fine motor functions in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods: A total of 80 cerebral palsy kids with fine motor dysfuncti...Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture plus occupation therapy for fine motor functions in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods: A total of 80 cerebral palsy kids with fine motor dysfunction were allocated into two groups by envelop, 40 cases in each group. Cases in the control group were treated with occupation therapy. Based on the therapy given to the control group, cases in the treatment group were supplemented with acupuncture at the points of the three yang meridians of hand. The treatment was done every other day and 10 times for a course. There was a 15-day interval between two courses, and 3 courses in total. The therapeutic efficacies were evaluated using Peabody developmental motor scale 2 (PDMS-2) and modified Ashworth scale (MAS) before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the standard score for grasping (Grs), standard score for visual-motor integration (Vis), fine motor quotient (FMQ) and modified Ashworth scale (MAS) were significantly improved in both groups (P〈0.05). The improvement in the treatment group was more obvious than that in the control group (P〈0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture plus occupation therapy can achieve better effect than occupation therapy alone in improving fine motor functions of upper limbs in cerebral palsy kids.展开更多
Mammalian carnivores are rarely considered for environmental reconstructions because they are extremely adaptable and their geographic range is usually large. However, the functional morphology of carnivore long bones...Mammalian carnivores are rarely considered for environmental reconstructions because they are extremely adaptable and their geographic range is usually large. However, the functional morphology of carnivore long bones can be indicative of locomotor behaviour as well as adaptation to specific kind of habitats. Here, different long bone ratios belonging to a subsample of extant large carnivores are used to infer palaeoecology of a comparative sample of Plio-Pleistocene fossils belonging to Italian paleo-communities. A multivariate long bone shape space reveals similarities between extant and fossil carnivores and multiple logistic regression models suggest that specific indices (the brachial and the Mt/F) can be applied to predict adaptations to grassland and tropical biomes. These functional indices exhibit also a phylogenetic signal to different degree. The brachial index is a significant predictor of adaptations to tropical biomes when phylogeny is taken into account, while Mt/F is not correlated anymore to habitat adaptations. However, the proportion of grassland-adapted carnivores in Italian paleo-communities exhibits a negative relationship with mean oxygen isotopic values, which are indicative of past climatic oscillations. As climate became more unstable during the Ice Ages, large carnivore guilds from the Italian peninsula were invaded by tropical/closed-adapted species. These species take advantage of the temperate forest cover that was more spread after 1.0 Ma than in the initial phase of the Quaternary (2.0 Ma) when the climate was more arid [Current Zoology 57 (3): 269-283, 2011].展开更多
