This equation reflects that the law of motion of particles obeying reversible, deterministic laws in dynamics becomes irreversible and stochastic in thermodynamics. From this the fundamental equations of nonequilibrium thermodynamics, the principle of entropy increase and the theorem of minimum entropy production have been derived. The hydrodynamic equations, such as the generalized Navier-Stokes equation and the mass drift-diffusion equation etc. have been derived rigorously from the kinetic kinetic equation which is reduced from the anomalous Langevin equation in Liouville space. All these are unified and self consistent. But it is difficult to prove that entropy production density σ can never be negative everywhere for all the isolated inhomogeneous systems far from equilibrium.展开更多

Included in this study are particle strength exchange methods, core-spreading method, deterministic particle method and hybrid vortex methods. Combined with conservative methods, vortex methods can comprise the most available tools for simulations of three-dimensional complex bluff body flows at high Reynolds numbers.展开更多

The core of this ascription is an assessment of incommensurability as implying the lack of any rational possibility of theory comparison. This is supposed to be due to Gestalt switches and a quasi-religious element of conversion in theory change. Accordingly, scientific revolutions cannot be a serious matter for philosophical analysis; they furthermore foreclose any scientific progress. It is shown that such images of Kuhn's theory rest on deep misunderstandings that are partly due to Kuhn's writing style.展开更多

A parameter, dimensionless total useful energy rate (DTUER), was used as the criterion for performance optimization of cogeneration plant. The effects of cycle parameters, internal irreversibilities, and recuperator efficiency on maximum DTUER and on the efficiency at maximum DTUER were numerically investigated. The relation between DTUER and cogeneration efficiency was also analyzed. The results show that there exists an optimal compressor pressure ratio which maximizes the DTUER. It is also found that there exists an optimal power-to-heat ratio which results in a dual-maximum DTUER.展开更多

Lowering of the cell voltage below its reversi...Steady-state model of a high-temperature solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is considered, which refers to constant chemical potentials of incoming hydrogen fuel and oxidant. Lowering of the cell voltage below its reversible value is attributed to polarizations and imperfect conversions of reactions. An imperfect power formula summarizes the effect of transport laws, irreversible polarizations and efficiency of power yield. Reversible electrochemical theory is extended to the case with dissipative chemical reactions; this case includes systems with incomplete conversions, characterized by "reduced affinities" and an idle run voltage. Efficiency drop is linked with thermodynamic and electrochemical irreversibilities expressed in terms of polarizations (activation, concentration and ohmic). Effect of incomplete conversions is modeled by assuming that substrates can be remained after the reaction and that side reactions may occur. Optimum and feasibility conditions are discussed for basic input parameters of the cell. Calculations of maximum power show that the data differ for power generated and consumed and depend on current intensity, number of mass transfer units, polarizations, electrode surface area, average chemical rate, etc.. These data provide bounds for SOFC energy generators, which are more exact and informative than reversible bounds for electrochemical transformation.展开更多

I argue this is unavoidable for Kuhn given what he says about incommensurability and 1 investigate the consequences in relation to reflexivity, justification, and paradox for Kuhn's account of science. I want to do this on two levels, firstly looking at different possibilities for characterising individual paradigms. I will look at some examples from ancient and early modem astronomy as here it is clearest that paradigms can be characterised in different ways and that this has important consequences. I will argue in particular that Kuhn's characterisation of the paradigm for astronomy which emerges from antiquity (geocentrism) is favourable to his general account of the history of science, but that there is a very plausible and extremely damaging alternative. I argue that these differing characterisations generate differing, incommensurable taxonomies of the history of astronomy, with attendant "local holism," untranslatability of key terms and issues of theory choice. If so, Kuhn then has problems with generating an adequate decision making protocol for choosing between the two paradigm characterisations. That is problematic in itself, but I also argue this problem is systemic and affects the evidence needed for Kuhn to justify his general account of the history of science. I also want to investigate the implications of differing taxonomies of the history of science at a more abstract level. Kuhn's general theory of the history of science generates a taxonomy of the history of science, as do other theories such as those of Popper and of gradualism. If so, the incommensurability involved here, again with attendant "local holism," untranslatability of key terms and issues of theory choice, leads to issues of paradox and justification for Kuhn's general account of the history of science. The issue of unpredictabilit...Phrasal verbs, accounting for a large proportion in modem language, pose numerous challenges to foreign language learners of English, who usually view verb + particle combinations random. The issue of unpredictability is obviously a problem for English learners. Making things worse, many phrasal verbs are polysemous. For one thing, one phrasal verb may have multiple meanings; for another, several phrasal verbs may have the same or similar meanings. While the fast development of cognitive linguistics theory provides a new perspective for the study of English polysemous phrasal verbs. Researchers apply cognitive linguistic theory into second language acquisition and find that the multiple senses of phrasal verbs are actually systematic and motivated. The present study summarizes studies of polysemous phrasal verbs from the perspective of traditional approaches and cognitive approaches as well as the empirical studies based on it and analyzes the shortage of traditional approaches on phrasal verbs. Lastly, this paper illustrates some drawbacks of empirical study based on the assessment of Boers (2011) and points out some suggestions on further studies.展开更多
The analysis and the design of turbojet engines are of great importance to the improvement of the system performance.Many researchers focus on these topics,and many important and interesting results have been obtained...The analysis and the design of turbojet engines are of great importance to the improvement of the system performance.Many researchers focus on these topics,and many important and interesting results have been obtained.In this paper,the thermodynamic cycle in a turbojet engine is analyzed with the entransy theory and the T-Q diagram.The ideal thermodynamic cycle in which there is no inner irreversibility is analyzed,as well as the influences from some inner irreversible factors,such as the heat transfer process,the change of the component of the working fluid and the viscosity of the working fluid.For the discussed cases,it is shown that larger entransy loss rate always results in larger output power,while smaller entropy generation rate does not always.The corresponding T-Q diagrams are also presented,with which the change tendencies of the entransy loss rate and the output power can be shown very intuitively.It is shown that the entransy theory is applicable for analyzing the inner irreversible thermodynamic cycles discussed in this paper.Compared with the concept of entropy generation,the concept of entransy loss and the corresponding T-Q diagram are more suitable for describing the change of the output power of the analyzed turbojet engine no matter if the inner irreversible factors are considered.展开更多

The channel is filled with incompressible Eyring-Powell fluid. Mathematical modeling is developed through aspects of Hall current, thermal deposition and convection. Long wavelength and low Reynolds number considerations are adopted. Perturbation solutions to the resulting problem for small material parameter of fluid are obtained. Expressions of velocity, temperature, concentration and stream function are derived. Variations of pertinent parameters on the physical quantities of interest are explored in detail. The present analysis is especially important to predict the rheological characteristics in engineering applications by peristalsis.展开更多

文摘Absolute integrability and its absolute value inequality for fuzzy-number-valued func- tions are worth to be considered.In this paper,absolute integrability and its absolute value inequality for fuzzy-number-valued functions are discussed by means of the characteristic the- orems of nonabsolute fuzzy integrals and the embedding theorem,i.e.,the fuzzy number space can be embedded into a concrete Banach space.Several necessary and sufficient conditions and examples are given.

We define D to be an S-*w-principal ideal domain if for each nonzero ideal I of D, there exist an element s ∈ S and a principal ideal (c) of D such that sI (c) In this paper, we study some properties of S-*w-principal ideal domains. Among other things, we study the local property, the Nagata type theorem, and the Cohen type theorem for S-*w-principal ideal domains.
文摘Peristaltic flow by a sinusoidal traveling wave in the walls of two-dimensional channel with wall properties is investigated. The channel is filled with incompressible Eyring-Powell fluid. Mathematical modeling is developed through aspects of Hall current, thermal deposition and convection. Long wavelength and low Reynolds number considerations are adopted. Perturbation solutions to the resulting problem for small material parameter of fluid are obtained. Expressions of velocity, temperature, concentration and stream function are derived. Variations of pertinent parameters on the physical quantities of interest are explored in detail. The present analysis is especially important to predict the rheological characteristics in engineering applications by peristalsis.

文摘By End(G) and hEnd(G) we denote the set of endomorphisms and half-strong endomorphisms of a graph G respectively. A graph G is said to be E-H-unretractive if End(G) = hEnd(G). A general characterization of an E-H-unretractive graph seems to be difficult. In this paper, bipartite graphs with E-H-unretractivity are characterized explicitly.
