In many gasliquid processes, the initial bubble size is determined by a series of operation parameters along with the sparger design and gasliquid flow pattern. Bubble formation models for variant gasliquid flow pat terns have been developed based on force balance. The effects of the orientation of gasliquid flow, gas velocity, liquid velocity and orifice diameter on the initial bubble size have been clarified. In ambient airwater system, thesultable gasllquid flow pattern is important to obtain smaller bubbles under the low velocity liquid crossflow con ditions with stainless steel spargers. Among the four types of gasliquid flow patterns discussed, the horizontal orifice in a vertically upward liquid flow produces the smallest initial bubbles. However the orientation effects of gas and liquid flow are found tobe insgnifican whenliq.uid velocity is.higher than. 3.2 m;sa or theorifice diameter is small enough. 展开更多

AISI 304 stainless steel plates were welded with activated flux tungsten inert gas(A-TIG) method by utilizing self-developed activated flux. It is indicated from the experimental results that for 8 mm-thick AISI 304 stainless steel plate, weld joint of full penetration and one-side welding with good weld appearance can be obtained in a single pass without groove preparation by utilizing A-TIG welding. Moreover, activated flux powders do not cause significant effect on the microstructure of TIG weld and the mechanical properties of A-TIG weld joints are also superior to those of C-TIG(conventional TIG) welding. 展开更多

Surface treatment of 0Cr19Ni9 stainless steel SMAW joint by plasma melting

Micro plasma arc surface melting of 0Cr19Ni9 shielded metal arc welding joint with a micro plasma arc welder produced a thin surface melted layer with a refined microstructure. The surface treatment changed the anodic polarization behavior in 0.5 mol/L H 2SO 4 solution. The polarization tests showed that for the as welded joint both the heat affected zone and the weld metal decreased in resistance to corrosion compared with the as received parent material while for the micro plasma arc surface melted joint the corrosion resistance increased significantly. This increase in corrosion resistance is attributed to the rapid solidification of the melted layer. Rapid solidification of the melted layer refines its microstructure, decreases its microsegregation, and inhibits the precipitation of chromium carbides at the grain boundaries. 展开更多
