The p16 protein negatively regulated cell proliferation, whereas CD44v6 is associated with proliferation as an important protein. Additionally, CD44v6 is an important nuclear antigen closely correlated to tumor metastasis. Tlle present study aims to investigate the expression and significance of Bmi-1, p16, and CD44v6 in uterine cervical carcinoma (UCC). Methods A total of 62 UCC, 30 cervical neoplasic, and 20 normal cervical mucosal tissues were used ill the current study. The expression of Bmi-1, p16, and CD44v6 in these tissues was determined using immunohistochemical assay. The relationships among the expression of these indices, the clinicopathologic features of UCC, and the survival rate of UCC patients were also discussed. The correlation between Bmi-1 protein expression and p16 or CD44v6 protein in UCC was analyzed. Results The expression of Bmi-l, p16, and CD44v6 was significantly high in cervical carcinoma compared with that in tlle cervical neoplasia and normal colorectal mucosa (P〈0.05). The over-expression of Bmi-1 protein in UCC was apparently related to the distant metastasis (P〈0.01) and the tumor, nodes and metastasis-classification, i.e. the TNM staging, World Health Organization (P〈0.05). Nevertheless, the positive expression of p16 protein in UCC was not significantly associated with the clinicopathologic features (P〉0.05). The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the over-expression of Bmi-1 significantly decreased the survival rate of UCC patients (P〈0.05). A strong correlation indicated that there was statistical significance between the expression of Bmi-1 and CD44V6 proteins in UCC (r=0.419, P=0.001). Conclusions The over-expression of Bmi-1 and CD44v6 protein closely correlate to the tumorigenesis, metastasis, and prognosis of UCC. Bmi-I and CD44v6 may be used to predict the prognosis of cervical carcinoma. Bmi-1 may indirectly regulate the expression of CD44v6 in UCC patients. The positive expression of p16 protein is possibly associated with the tumorigenesis, but not with the metastasis or prognosis of UCC.展开更多

Using interdisciplinary methods, present paper touches the case of Armenian monodic music. Through analysis of song types (concerning labour, funeral, wedding, belief, worship, magic, mythology, epic, and dance), music representatives, music performance places, and musical instruments, an attempt is made to consider the phenomenon within certain temporal borders. It turns out that the folk and folk-professional realistic music is simple and static in its essence and includes the invariant component of local culture, going back to the period of formation of early farming communities. In the cold and high-attitude Xizang (Tibetan) Plateau, where aragonite has been commonly found in lacustrine sediments, there is no aragonite, but low-Mg calcite, monohydrocalcite and trace dolomite. The lake receives solutes primarily from surface runoffs and remains fairly constant water chemistry for a long time. The total CaCO3 percentage in sediments could be controlled by evaporation and inflow of detrital materials. The absence of aragonite is unusual when compared to other lacustrine sediments from the Tibetan Plateau. This could be due to low Ca/Mg ratio, low salinity, low Mg and Ca concentration. Monohydrocalcite might precipitate from the lake water mediated by biological activities. Low-Mg calcite originated from minor ostracoda shell and the precipitation of lake water with biological activities.展开更多

Here we evaluate the oceanic response to this event in terms of a Holocene sea surface temperature (SST) record reconstructed using the U^7 index for Core B3 on the continen- tal shelf of the East China Sea. The record reveals a large temperature drop of about 5~C from the mid-Holocene (24.7~C at 5.6ka) to the 4ka event (19.2~C at 3.8ka). This mid-late Holocene cooling period in Core B3 correlated with (i) decreases in the East Asia summer monsoon intensity and (ii) the transition period with increased E1 Nifio/Southern Oscillation activities in the Equatorial Pa- cific. Our SST record provides oceanic evidence for a more global nature of the mid-late Holocene climate change, which was most likely caused by a southward migration of the Intertropical Converge Zone in response to the decreasing summer solar insolation in the Northern Hemisphere. However, the large SST drop around Core B3 indicates that the mid-late Holocene cooling was regionally amplified by the initiation/strengthening of eddy circulation/cold front which caused upwelling and resulted in additional SST de- crease. Upwelling during the mid-late Holocene also enhanced with surface productivity in the East China Sea as reflected by higher alkenone content around Core B3.展开更多

The new species has linear leavs in bundles of five to six attached on a short shoot, more than 100 mm long by 5-6 mm wide, containing 10-12 parallel veins at upper portion. The leaf is hypostomatic. Epidermal cells are longitudinally arranged with smooth periclinal wall on the upper cuticle. The narrow non-stomatal zones and wide stomatal zones alternate in the lower cuticle. Stomata in four to five irregular spaced rows are longitudinally oriented in each stomatal zone. Guard cells for each are surrounded by four to five subsidiary cells with undeveloped papillae. Anticlinal wails of ordinal3, epidermal cells are nearly straight and periclinal walls slightly papillate. The new species shallow stomatal pits kept open and surrounded by unevenly undeveloped bulges. These characters are consistent with those of growth in a humid, rather than an arid climate. The presence of subgenus Phoenicopsis and other taxa of Czekanowskiales in the coal-bearing Yan'an Formation supports the view that the climate in the Ordos Basin was humid and warm with seasonal changes during the Middle Jurassic.展开更多

Such an approach to the study of similes is quite new as they have been hitherto considered either from a literary viewpoint as one of the stylistic expressive means of language or in the philosophy of language in correlation with metaphor. The three-dimensional linguosemiotic methodology of research has enabled us: (1) to reveal the cognitive, psychological, and metaphorical essence of similes and work out the invariant conceptual model which remains unchanged throughout their structural-semantic variation in the text; (2) to single out pragmatic features of similes, the set of which defines their linguistic status as a language-in-use construct, i.e., textual phenomenon; (3) to study the denotational-cognitive aspect of similes pointing out the parameters according to which similes have been differentiated into semantic types and subtypes and (4) to generalize the syntactical aspect of similes and define the set of their structural modifications in the text conditioned both by the intralinguistic regularities and by pragmatic factors. Therefore, we have worked out an interdisciplinary theory of similes implying the synergy of the data of linguistic, literary, cognitive, and psychological studies展开更多

The long-term changes of biogenic and micropaleontological proxies display some similarities through the last 10 500 a, which show three different phases: lower values are recorded during the early and middle ttolocene (before about 4 000 a BP), followed by an abrupt and remarkable increase at about 4 000 a BP, the late Holocene (after about 3 000 a BP) is characterized by continuously high values. The multi-proxy data of paleoproductivity and percents of benthic foraminifera genera (Uvigerina and Bulimina) show that during the early and middle Holocene (10 500-4 000 a BP) productivity was relatively low with a sudden and distinct increase at about 4 000 a BP, and the late Holocene (3 400-0 a BP) is marked by significantly higher productivity. Also, the radiolarian-based sea surface temperature (SST) records reveal a distinct decline in SST in the late Holocene after 3 200 a BP, very different from the early and middle Holocene. For the last 3 000 a, the enhanced biological productivity and distinctly lower SST indicate a major change of oceanographic conditions in the northeastern ECS. These marine environmental anomalies are consistent with other paleoclimatic records for the late Holocene in the Chinese continent and its surrounding regions. After analyzing the mechanisms of modern productivity and SST changes in the northeastern ECS, and based on the climatic anomalies in the Chinese continent and variations in the Kuroshio Current during modern El Nino periods, we suggest that the anomalous environmental conditions in the northeastern ECS may imply intensified El Nino activity during the late Holocene.展开更多

Using the stomatal index (SI) technique, here we estimate the Santonian (Late Cretaceous) CO2 contents based on a sequence of fossil cuticles of Ginkgo adiantoides (Ung.) Heer from three beds of the Yong'ancun Formation in Jiayin, Heilongjiang Province, northeastern China. By the regress function, Sis of Ginkgo fossils reveal a pronounced CO2 reduction from the early to late Santonian (-661 and -565 ppm, respectively). The relatively high CO2 levels provide additional evidence for paleoclimatic warmth in this interval. Moreover, available paleobotanical data illustrate a decline trend of CO2 contents throughout the Late Cretaceous, punctuated by several fluctuations in particular episodes with different magnitudes. The CO2 contents shifted notably in the late Cenomanian, Turonian, early Santonian, late Campanian, and probably latest Maastrichtian. Furthermore, a comprehensive study based on CO2 data shows that the global mean land surface temperature (GMLST) fluctuated several times accordingly. The change ratios of GMLST (AT) increased from -3℃ in late Cenomanian to -4.7℃ in mid Turonian, and then dramatically reduced to -2.2℃ in mid Coniacian. From the Santonian onward, it appears that the temperature gradually decreased with a few minor fluctuations.展开更多

From the Santonian onward, it appears that the temperature gradually decreased with a few minor fluctuations.
