Consequently, the mathematics in China and in Korea during the Joseon Dynasty, in contrast to the deductive western mathematics, does not function on the basis of proving something deductively. Rather, the Chinese mathematics from this period was based upon making observations about problems by combining patterns with specific examples. In this paper, this author attempts to compare the differences in mathematics between the East and the West, and also to study the different perspectives in art between the East and the West, in order to identify the relationship between civilization, culture and the spirit of the age. This will explain the reason why the Western 'One Point Perspective' had spread in China and the Chosen Dynasty, yet could not be permanently established in these countries.展开更多

To show how Stephen becomes a priest of art, Joyce has Stephen face three challengers in the form of MacCann, Davin, and Cranly, who all upbraid Dedalus to abandon his apostasy and conform. These three all try to tempt Dedalus away from his devotion to his individuality and personal integrity, and are analogues to the temptations faced by the Buddha on the eve of his enlightenment under the Bo tree. The Buddha faced Kama, the God of Desire; Mara, the Lord of death; and Dharma, who represents Duty. Stephen faces the temptations of social activism (and its attendant ego inflation) in the form of MacCann, a self-destructive Irish Nationalism in the figure of Davin and finally his obligation to his parochial and demanding family as represented by Cranly's arguments. Cranly (Dharma) even enjoins Stephen explicitly to make his Easter duty. These are dangerous distractions which can all keep Stephen from his goal, which is the Nibbana of artistic achievement. When Stephen triumphs over these three tempters he has come through the fire of self-doubt and is ready for his larger fate as an artist.展开更多

Forty-two morpho-agronomic traits were evaluated and the generalized Mahalanobis distance was used to quantify the genetic divergence among progenies. Tocher clustering, unweighted pair-group method using arithmetic averages (UPGMA) method and canonical variation analysis were employed as clustering strategies. The Tocher and UPGMA methods have been separated the progenies into eight and five groups, respectively. Analysis of the relative contribution of each characteristic to genetic dissimilarity highlighted the characteristics of production in liters in 2009, production notes in 2009, and average uniformity of maturation in 2009 as those that contributed most to obtaining genetic divergence. The authors observed that the first three canonical variables accounted for over 99% of the total variance observed in the full set of analyzed characteristics. High variability was observed among the 15 progenies of Dilla & Alghe × Timor hybrid progenies. The progenies MG0589 and MG0592, MG0593 and MG0589, MG0591 and MG0589, MG0589 and MG0588, MG0589 and MG0583 were the most suitable crosses for exploring the genetic variability in Dilla & Alghe × Timor hybrid generated from the germplasm bank of Minas Gerais. Through these crossovers, it is expected to get new coffee cultivars with desirable agronomic characteristics, as resistant to Pseudomonas xyringae pv. garcae and some breeds ofHemileia vastatrix.展开更多

In the process of development from the tradition to the modem times, the original source of contemporary landscape paintings' artistic spirit should be traced, and the corresponding historical stages should be objectively and rationally analyzed, so that contemporary landscape paintings can better adapt to the present conditions, and then their real existence and creative development can be really realized.展开更多

The measure reflecting live process of national musical art is a performing practice. Makom is the most example of Uzbek classical musical heritage. The art of singing plays considerable role in culture of Uzbek national music. On the basis of classical singing the following singing directions as "Folk singing" (yallachilik), "Classical singing" (mumtoz yallachilik), "Grand Song" (katta ashulachilik) and "Art of Makom" singing forms were formulated and developed. Greatest representatives of Margilan School of singing.展开更多

As Mao's successor, Hua Guofeng used the the model of god-man to copy-write his own image, which is naturally related to the CCP's leadership, and related to psychological expectations of the Chinese people in time. And the image-shaping process ofHua Guofeng has the obvious transitional characteristic and was a sense of its apotheosis, meanwhile it was a humanization too. The paradox and mix of the two gives us a great space of research.展开更多

Delays constitute one of the highest impediments to project success. In this respect, the traditional management is no longer sufficient for construction project success. The objective of this study is to conduct a literature review to identify additional effective measures for controlling the potential delays risks in construction projects in order to maximize the opportunities for success in those projects. Thirty-six scholarly articles published between 2000 and 2011 are reviewed to identify related MDRC (measures for delays risks control). This survey reveals that 60% of the studies are related to decision-making, performance, risk management variations and poor management knowledge of stakeholders and that 20% of these studies are undertaken in the Middle East. A further 25% of the studies are related to the lack of financial risk by stakeholders, and of these 14% are in the Middle East. A knowledge gap is identified in terms of project performance, stakeholder management and risk management, which are seen as significant measures of success in controlling project delay.展开更多
