Firstly, multi-direction lights were projected on the pilled fabric surface and its pilling images were captured, which mixed with invariant fabric background texture and pilling profile information modulated by the variant light projections. The captured fabric pilling images were analyzed by independent component analysis method. Using the spectrum feature analysis method, the independent components belonging to the complicated fabric background texture were separated and the pilling images are reconstructed with the left components. The experimental results showed that this method can effectively separate the pilling image from complicated fabric texture, which provides one possibility for colored fabric pilling objective evaluation.展开更多

And then it was analyzed and evaluated using environment science, ergonomics and fussy mathematics analysis. Basis of the statistics and analysis of the measured noise level some measures, such as applying the new materials and improving the construction of the equipment, were carried out. The resuts show that they can reduce the noise level, improve the working environment and enhance the work efficiency.展开更多

The authors draw on their own experiences of interviewing powerful and influential members of government and various professions as well as tips from experienced researchers from the fields of social sciences and health. They identify five essential steps to successful interviewing: (1) identifying the key informants; (2) negotiating access; (3) background research and preparation; (4) site selection, presentation questioning approach, and execution; and (5) follow-up. Each of them is discussed in detail. The authors argue that the most important quality for the elite interviewer is self-management which involves developing an individual style of interviewing that is responsive to setbacks and unexpected opportunities展开更多

Along with such a tendency, the number of students who use PC (Personal computer) has also increased during the lesson at university. Hereupon, the authors investigate whether the students will get high scores in tests when some limitations are imposed on the students' use of the PC during lecture and when they are not. The authors create the tool to check the students' learning situation and to grasp which student is performing the PC operations, which are not related to the ongoing lesson, during the lecture. Teaching assistant carrying the iPad is made to walk around the class during the lecture and collect data of the students. In addition, the authors develop "MyPage" that the students can be given access to their personal information including individual class absence/tardiness, lesson comprehension and question understanding level of them and after using MyPage, the authors examine its effectiveness as a tool and its relationship with their attendance rate.展开更多

The front end of the instrument is made up of a sensor module comprising a thin beam light emitting diode (LED) illuminating a small spot on the metal surface, and a matched pair of photodetectors, one for capturing the reflected light and the other for sampling the scattered light. The analog photocurrent signals are digitized and processed online by a personal computer (PC) to determine the corrosion factor defined in terms of the two current values. By scanning the sample surface using the light beam and by computing the corrosion factor values simultaneously, a three dimensional graph and a two dimensional contour map are generated in the PC using Matlab tools. The values of the corrosion factor measured in different durations of exposure to atmosphere, which obey a bilogarithmic law, testify to the validity of our mathematical model.展开更多
