AIM: TO observe the therapeutic effects of new traditional Chinese medicine (TClVl) therapy on coagulation disorder and accompanying intractable jaundice in HBV-related liver cirrhosis patients. METHODS: Using stratified random sampling according to fibrinogen (Fib) levels, 145 liver cirrhosis patients due to hepatitis B complicated by coagulation disorder were treated. Of them, 70 in research group were treated with TCM by "nourishing yin, cooling blood and invigorating blood circulation" and Western medicine, 75 in control group were treated with conventional Western medicine. The indexes of liver function, coagulation function and bleeding events were observed and compared. RESULTS: The prothrombin time (PT) was shorter and the fibrinogen (Fib) level was higher in the research group than in the control group (Fib = 1.6-2.0 g/L, 1.1-1.5 g/L, and ≤ 1.0 g/L). The total bilirubin (TBIL) level was significantly lower in the research group than in the control group, except for the subgroup of FIB ≤ 1.0 g/L. CONCLUSION: TCM therapy can improve coagulation fuction and decrease TBIL. 展开更多

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of medicine-separated moxibustion for primary dysmenorrhea and its influence on plasma hormone level. Methods. Ninety-six patients suffering from primary dysmenorrhea were randomly and evenly divided into trealment group treated with medicine-separated moxibustion of Shenque (神阙 CV 8, 3-5 cones every time, beginning 1 week before onset of menstruation and stopping on the 3^rd day after onset, with 10 sessions being a therapeutic oourse, 3 courses all together), and control group treated with oral administration of Yueyueshu (月月舒 menstruation-smoothing granule, 10 g/time, b.i.d, 3 courses altogether). Menses prostaglandin E2(PGF2α) and plasma oxytocin (OT) during menstruation were determined by radioimmunoassay. Results; After the treatment, of the two 48 cases in treatment and control groups, 18 and 5 were cured, 24 and 9 had marked improvement in their symptoms, 6 and 26 had improvement, 0 and 8 failed in the treatment, with the total effective rates being 100. 096 and 83.3% respectively, the therapeutic effect of treatment group was markedly superior to that of control group (P〈0.05). After the treatment, the contents of menses PGF2α in treatment group and plasma OT in both groups were significantly lower than those of pre-treatment ( P〈 0.01 ). The therapeutic effect of moxibustion was significant- ly better than that of medication in lowering plasma OT. Conclusion: Medicine-separated moxibustion works well in treating primary dysmenorrhea, and moxibustion induced decrease of menses PGF2α and plasma OT may contribute to its effect in relieving dysmenorrhea. 展开更多

China has recognized the threat of HIV to its population and responded with a national antiretroviral treatment (ART) program. However, high ART failure rates and the spread of resistance within populations are important realities to consider when developing and managing ART programs in China and worldwide. Concepts which will define treatment success and local and national programmatic goals are 1) access to ART, 2) durability of ART at the patient level, 3) scalability of treatment modalities, and the 4) sustainability of the program at the community or national level. In the face of limited resources, China must also consider when to start ARV therapy, which agents to use, when to switch them, and how to treat highly experienced patients with drug resistance. The optimal ARV regimen to start with is changing frequently with the introduction of new agents and the presentation of new data. Currently, a regimen including tenofovir, emtricitabine or lamivudine and a nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor appears to have optimal characteristics to treat HIV/AIDS in China. However, critical to all of these choices is the evaluation of programs implemented to insure wide scale success. China has wisely begun this process of evaluating the perlormance of local programs through systematic monitoring and evaluation of treatment outcomes. This will allow regimens and programs that work to be expanded, and programs with high failure rates to be eliminated. In the end, evidence based data supporting treatment strategies will allow China to successfully contront its AIDS epidemic early and prevent its tragic consequences 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To study and analyze the etiology and pathogenesis, diagnosis and prescription for cases of diabetic nephropathy(DN) treated by Professor Zhongying Zhou(Prof.Zhou) with the help of dada mining technique,so as to inherit his clinical experience and academic thoughts.METHODS:After pretreatment of the medical record information, statistical software SPSS 13.0 was used to analyze and process the standardized data using the descriptive analysis, cluster analysis and association rules.RESULTS:Ninety-four entries derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) four-diagnostic information were selected.Through data mining, the highest frequency was yellow-thin-greasy tongue coating, followed by dark tongue, and then by thready-slippery pulse. The main self-conscious symptoms were limb numbness, dry mouth, frequent micturition, etc. With respect to pathogenesis, the etiology related to kidney reached 73.46%.The frequency of pathological factors for deficiency, blood stasis, heat, dampness, phlegm and dryness were 137.65%,80.25%,78.40%,48.77%,21.60%,and 14.20% respectively.A total of 236 kinds of herbs were used 2913 person times, averaging 17.98 herbs per prescription.CONCLUSION:The pathological location of DN is in the kidney. The pathogenesis of the disease is deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality, the former of which include deficiency of the liver and kidney, and deficiency of both Qi and Yin.The main pathological factors are blood stasis, heat, dampness, phlegm, and dryness;and they act upon each other to form the complex pathogenesis in terms of blood stasis-heat,dampness-heat,phlegm-heat,and dryness-heat.All the above factors are always crucial in the aggravation of DN throughout the whole course of its pathological evolution. 展开更多
