"Exploitation of the Works of ...This paper focuses on the research on the vocabularies in the modem Chinese monograph with the division of history into periods and the special classes of the ancient codes and records. "Exploitation of the Works of Nature" is China's first encyclopedia on the production technologies of the agricultural and handicraft industries, published in 1637, with the contents covering many fields of the social production. It can fully reflect the terminologies of various industries in the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty and the real situation of the language at that time, which has a very high value of the linguistic research. The article extracts 5573 double-character compound words from the whole book, and uses the method of the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis to study the vocabularies of the whole book. Limited by the length of the text, the article carries out the investigation and analysis with the supplementary double-character words as the examples.展开更多

While there has been a proliferation in the implementation of marketing in the private sector, this paper provides a useful entry point for the understanding role of marketing within the nonprofit sector focused on China, the second worldwide economic power. A number of senior managers and directors from different Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) were interviewed of what they understood marketing to be and how they considered and implemented marketing within organizational strategy. The findings showed that while marketing was identified as an interesting and influential concept, Chinese nonprofit managers generally had a limited understanding of a marketing theory. The article further discusses reasons behind the dynamic based on personalized networks of influence used and the potential implications for nonprofit entities in China, a sector that plays a very noteworthy role in transformative economies.展开更多
This study examines the urban population of tourism practitioners' perceptions of economic, environmental, and social impacts on cultural, convention, and sport tourism may have in Haikou and Sanya, Hainan, China....This study examines the urban population of tourism practitioners' perceptions of economic, environmental, and social impacts on cultural, convention, and sport tourism may have in Haikou and Sanya, Hainan, China. The study uses a modif ied Urban Tourism Impact (UTI) to examine economic, environmental, and social perceived impacts. Analysis of the data includes testing three models of structural relationships between tourism impacts and support for development in each of the tourism market sub-divisions through a confirmatory factor analysis. The results of this study show that the positive economic impacts consistently exert influence on predicting support for tourism development in all three models. However, the social impacts play a greater explanatory role with all three market segment, the negative environmental impacts play a role in determining support for sport tourism only. Differences have been found with those with a higher education level in predicting support for cultural tourism, but not convention or sport tourism.展开更多
