外商直接投资(Foreign Direct Investment,FDI)对本土企业技术进步的作用通常用"外溢效应"来解释。本文回顾了外溢理论的局限性以及"外溢效应"研究在解释FDI与本土企业技术发展之间关系时所遇到的困难。作者提出,... 外商直接投资(Foreign Direct Investment,FDI)对本土企业技术进步的作用通常用"外溢效应"来解释。本文回顾了外溢理论的局限性以及"外溢效应"研究在解释FDI与本土企业技术发展之间关系时所遇到的困难。作者提出,当地组织的战略反应在本土技术发展当中发挥着更为重要的作用,也就是所谓的"鲶鱼效应"。作者采集了来自63个发展中国家8年的国家层面数据,使用联立方程模型分析比较了外溢效应、鲶鱼效应和混合效应这几个竞争模型,结果表明有显著的鲶鱼效应存在。本文的研究结论表明,使发展中国家受益的并不仅仅是FDI技术外溢本身,而且包括发展中国家自己对于FDI的反应。换言之,在技术进步方面,本土企业和本地机构的战略反应与来自于FDI的知识流动相比可能起了更大的作用。对于那些未能实现技术进步的发展中国家而言,它们缺乏对FDI的积极回应,FDI甚至对当地的技术创新起了替代作用的负效应。 展开更多

The output of tight oil of the USA in 2016 was 220 million tons. According to the statistics of EIA, China has abundant tight oil resources, and its reserves rank No. 3 in the world. In the current situation of continuously low oil prices, through the technical progress and optimized management, the development costs of tight oil of the USA are continuously reduced, and the cost-effective development has been successfully realized. By contrast, China still has to carry out the further exploration in such aspects as policy guidance, understanding of tight oil resources, related technologies and management models. At present, through the positive exploration and practice, some oil fields in China have frist realized the cost-effective development of tight oil. By the summarization of existing successful experience and the study of advanced technologies of the USA in tight oil development, the sound engineering management system suitable for the development of tight oil resource in China is established, and great efforts should be exerted to realize the large-scale, cost-effective development of tight oil resources as soon as possible. 展开更多

Based on the exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) technique and geographic information system (GIS) platform, with statistic data of counties in 2005, this paper confirms that there is a large population density gap between counties in 2005 because the Gini coefficient is 0.55. Population distribution does not change a lot during the past decades, and the southeast China is still much more densely populated than the northwest China. The global spa- tial autoeorrelation of population distribution is obvious because Moran's I scores 0.42 and local spatial autocorrelation is partly significant. Climate and elevation are still the main natural influ- encing factors. Meanwhile industrial structure and transportation significantly influence population distribution. Different combinations of natural factors have different effects on population distribution. For a long term, climate and terrain factor stability affect population distribution. But its influence will be weakened by progress of technology. Economic development is the main factor that changes population distribution for a short term. 展开更多

China has witnessed rapid economic development since 1978, and during the time, energy production and consumption developed at a tremendous speed as well. Energy efficiency which can be measured by energy consumption ... China has witnessed rapid economic development since 1978, and during the time, energy production and consumption developed at a tremendous speed as well. Energy efficiency which can be measured by energy consumption per unit of GDP, however, experienced continuous decrease. Theoretically, the change of energy efficiency can be attributed to industry structural change and technological change. In order to explain the transformation of Chinese energy efficiency, we adopt logarithmic mean Divisia index techniques to decompose changes in energy intensity in the period of 1994-2005. We find that technological change is the dominant contributor in the decline of energy intensity, but the contribution has declined since 2001. The change in industry structure has decreased the energy intensity before 1998, but raised the intensity after 1998. Decomposed technological effects for all sectors indicate that technological progresses in high energy consuming industries such as raw chemical materials and chemical products, smelting and pressing of ferrous metals, manufacture of non-metallic mineral products and household contribute are the principal drivers of China's declining energy intensity. 展开更多

An Empirical Study of China's Energy- Intensive Industries' Growth Based on Environmental Total Factor Productivity

Using directional distance function and nonparametric data envelopment analys&, th& paper estimates the environmental total factor productivity (ETFP) of energy-intensive industries in China from 1995 to 2010, and performs an empirical analysis on factors affecting ETFP growth after studying the differences of energy-intensive industries ' ETFP by industries and provinces. The findings include the following: energy-intensive industries 'ETFP growth is mainly driven by technical progress; China, at its current development stage, still has the potential to raise the productivity of its energy- intensive industries. By estimating the provincial data, we find that the ETFP growth of different provinces converge at different levels. Further market liberalization, increased FDl flows and reductions in energy intensity will help to improve each province's ETFP growth. In addition, increasing investment in energy saving and emissions reduction and improving corporate environmental management capacity can help to reduce a company's short-term cost of complying with environmental regulations. 展开更多

The role of intangible capital in wage inequality between skilled and unskilled workers in China

Wage inequality between skilled and unskilled workers has increased rapidly in China, right along with its major trading partner--the United States. Trade liberalization and technological improvement have been proposed as causes for the inequality, yet trade liberalization and technological improvement have set the stage for another, possibly more important, cause of the inequality: the movement of intangible capital to China. Intangible capital works synergistically with other inputs to make skilled-workers and tangible capital more valuable. Once the accumulated tangible capital reaches a certain level, its lower unit cost will attract the inflow of intangible capital, which will further expand the demand for skilled workers. As a result, wage inequality becomes larger in China. This paper takes the first step in an attempt to understand the role that the movement of intangible capital plays in the increasing wage inequality in China, and sets out several possible policy prescriptions for China to deal with this inequality. 展开更多

Demand tightening should mainly rely on the policy of quantitative monetary tightening, which specifically includes further tightening of capital controls and encouragement of outbound investment.
