Whereas Nguyen Kings lived in the Purple Forbidden City (the third wall of the Citadel), other members of royal families and high-ranking mandarins lived in Hue Traditional Garden Houses (HTGHs) constructed around and in the Citadel area. This paper is a part of the research that focuses on an approach for sustainable live conservation and application of HTGHs into contemporary use. In this paper, the study aims to consider effects of the Citadel on the layout and arrangement of HTGHs located in its' area by studying alteration in layout elements of those house. Based on field surveys of 91 HTGHs in the Citadel area, it is found that although those houses are altered into various configurations under the impacts of urbanization and modernization, several important traditional elements in layout such as Binh Phong (masonry screen), Be Can (basin), and facing orientation have been maintained, and their layouts reflect a miniature image of Hue Citadel, i.e., there is an integral relationship between the Citadel and HTGHs located in it. This relationship plays an important role for expressing one of unique characteristics of Hue cultural asset, which is unavailable in other regions of Vietnam.展开更多

Nortek 6M ADV current meter and YSI6600 were used to collect the field data on current speed, current direction and water turbidities 1 m above the bottom. Based on the collected field data, it could be found that wind-waves and currents were the main driving force for sediment resuspension. The correlation between suspended sediment concentration (SSC) and turbidity (NTU) is SSC = 15.908 x In (NTU) + 7.0888 (n = 33, R2 = 0.7209). Taking the key factor (angle 0) into account, the combination effect between wave and current were expressed. Results showed that the combined shear stress (row) of wave stress (re) and current stress (rw) could be calculated by row = rc + 2√ rcrw sin θ + rw sin^2 θ. The critical shear stress for sediment resuspension was about 0.059 N/m^2. The correlation between suspended sediment concentration and critical shear stress could be expressed by rcw = 238.06 SSC + 25.215 (n = 25, R^2 = 0.7298).展开更多

In the case of eastward propagation, the intraseasonal wind signal is mainly confined to the midlatitudes, featuring eastward migration of anomalous cyclones and anticyclones. In the case of southward propagation, intraseasonal meridional wind perturbations may extend from the mid to the low latitudes, and even the equatorial region. The accompanying wind convergence/divergence induces anomalous precipitation in the near-equatorial regions, forming a north–south dipole precipitation anomaly pattern between the southern South China Sea and the eastern China– Japan region. An anomalous meridional overturning circulation plays an important role in linking tropical and midlatitude intraseasonal wind and precipitation variations.展开更多

This research was based on various field surveys around big or medium cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, or Suzhou, and a theoretical framework. It also led us to carry out a statistical approach by elaborating a complete database on all the China's high-end gated communities. The main aim of the current article is to focus the analysis on the China's most luxurious zones of villas (e.g., Longhu Yiheyuan villas in Beijing, Ziyuan villas in Shanghai... ). Indirectly, it appears an efficient way to get information on the still mysterious world of the China's very very rich people, their imaginary, their values, and their dreams. This analysis will be developed through two complementary approaches and parts. Firstly, we will discuss the general notion of luxury in China; we also will highlight the specific features of hyper-rich and hyper-luxury in China. It will describe the social stratification of the rich, their spatial distribution and patterns of consumption. In a more holistic approach, the analysis will put into perspective the special status of the rich in a socialist market economy and their very ambivalent image in the Chinese society. Secondly, it will focus on the notion of "residential hyper-luxury". Through field surveys, the analysis will compare the China's most expensive gated communities and elaborate a typology of hyper-luxurious gated communities by underlining their uniqueness and extreme nature.展开更多

Bestowed with growing disposable incomes, Kerala consumers exhibit wide diversity in their buying habits. Apparently, the emerging fascination for imported brands impels distributers to leave enough space to shelf more "made in China" brands in their showrooms. The substantial increase in consumers' demand for imported goods with considerable attraction for "made in China" products inspired this study to explore the demand state for various types of Chinese products in the Indian regional markets. Divided into two stages, at first, with a primary survey, the study explores the consumers' perception towards selected five vastly available consumer durables such as electrical appliances, handicrafts, stationeries, toys and builds wares. Later, the demand matrix developed from the primary data defines the types of demand prevailing for each category of"made in China" products based on their popularity and consumption in Kerala markets.展开更多

By dividing the capital area into three studying regions based on regional tectonic characteristics, cluster analysis was conducted on the focal mechanisms of all subregions using the longest distance method in the statistical cluster analysis to study the characteristics of tectonic stress tensors. The result shows that dominant P-axis azimuth distribution is NNE-NEE and that of T-axis is NNW-NWW,most of the focal areas are controlled by a horizontal stress field and rupture is mainly of horizontal strike-slip. The maximum principal compression stress orientation is NE75° in the west,NE62° in the middle, and near EW in the east of the capital area. The regional tectonic stress field is characterized by horizontal compression.展开更多

文摘We calculated and analyzed variation of the non-dipole(ND)magnetic field at the millennium scale over the Chinese mainland during 2000 BC–1900 AD using the newest global geomagnetic model,CALS3K.4(3K.4).The newest-generation IGRF(IGRF11)was used to verify the results.Taking component Z for example,we calculated and analyzed the distribution and annual change rates of the ND field during 1900–1990 AD every 5 yr,using two models. To thoroughly analyze the contributions of field sources, quadrupole and octupole fields, and others within the ND field at the surface and core-mantle boundary(CMB)were investigated. Results show that there were three main variation phases of the field during the period 2000BC–1900 AD.The mean amplitude roughly reflected the ND field because of the distribution and variation of that field, corresponding somewhat to the mean amplitude change.A magnetic anomaly of the ND field over East Asia(EA)first emerged in 1682 AD,and its extreme intensity had increased a total of 15276.95 nT by 1900 AD.Its location moved continuously southeastward after 1690 AD.The asymmetry between location and intensity of extreme points over EA,particularly during1740–1760 AD,indicates irregularity of fluid motion inside the outer core.Mean annual changes of Z are generally divided into four phases, which first oscillated between 2000 and 800 BC,then increased, decreased and increased in the periods 800BC–300 AD,300–900 AD and 900–1900 AD,respectively. The intensity of mean annual change increased a total of 22.87nT/yr.Anomaly extreme locations based on 3K.4 and IGRF11 over EA centered around 44°N and 103°E for degree(n)greater than 5,and intensities continuously increased with n.During 2000 BC–1990 AD,ND energy of Z at the surface and CMB had decreased in total by 18.29%and 23.23%,respectively.The field source of 26–210 pole fields are more or less affected by the lithospheric field.Energies of higher degree at the surface attenuate by almost 99%compared with CMB,but mean attenuation speeds of the low-degree ND field are faster than high-degree,which implies that the low-degree ND field has a deeper source.
