Aim To establish a method for determination of Ginkgo biloba L, its extractand preparations with HPLC fingerprints, so as to control the quality of the preparations. MethodsHPLC-DAD method was used to determine the constituents in preparations. Diamonsil? C_(18) (200mm X 4.6 mm, 5 μm) was used as analytical column, and acetonitrile/KH_2PO_4 was used as mobilephase with gradient elu-tion. The column temperature was at 24 ℃. The HPLC profile of chemicalconstituents of control sample and preparations were analyzed using similarity software. Results Thefingerprints of different preparations from different companies were slightly different because ofthe different preparing procedures. Mean while, the fingerprints of different batches of the samepreparation from the same company were similar to each other and the technology of each preparationwas stable. Conclusion This method is accurate, reproducible , simple, and can be used as ananalytical method for the routine quality control of Ginkgo biloba preparations. 展开更多

DNA fingerprinting among members of the Chinese drug Pu Gong Ying(Taraxacum mongolicum Hand,-Mazz.)and six adulterants of Tu Gong Ying were demonstrated with random-primed polymerase chain reaction(PCR)including arbitrarily primed polymerase chain reaction(AP-PCR)and random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD).Distinctive, reproducible genomic fingerprints from DNA from 7 species belonged to Compositae were generated with two long(20 and 24 mer)and one short(10 mer)randomly chosen primers. The Pu Gong Ying can be differentiated from six species of Tu Gong Ying according to the banding pattems of their amplified DNA on agarose gels. The results showed that AP-PCR and RAPD methods can be used for identifying Chinese drugs. Moreover, the Similarity Indexes of the genomic DNA fingerprints showed that Pu Gong Ying and its adulterants are unrelated.Therefore,AP-PCR and RAPD methods can be used for identifying Chinese drugs. 展开更多

The similarities of the non-linear chemical (NLC) fingerprints of Radix Glycyrrhizaes from four producing areas and eight other traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) were calculated, using a systemic similarity calculation method proposed and three other main calculation ones (Euclidean distance, correlation coefficient and included angle cosine). All of the correlation coefficient similarities of different TCMs are higher than 0.952, and the included angle cosines are all higher than 0.962. So, both the conelation coefficient and included angle cosine similarities are unable to be used as the criteria for quantitatively evaluating the similarities of NLC fingerprints of TCMs. Although all of the Euclidean distance similarities of Berry Liquorices from four producing areas are less than 73, those of the other eight TCMs are all more than 180. The Euclidean distance cannot reflect the relative magnitudes of the feature differences in the NLC fingerprints very correctly. The systemic similarity method is the best among the four ones. All of the systemic similarities of Berry Liquorices from the four producing areas are higher than 0.962, while those of the other eight TCMs are all lower than 0.805, and the systemic similarity can reflect the differences between samples most faithfully, and can be used as a quantitative one evaluating the similarities of NLC fingerprints of TCMs, by which TCM could be distinguished and evaluated quickly, simply and exactly. 展开更多

With the widespread use of Internet, the amount of data in the field of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is growing exponentially.Consequently, there is much attention on the collection of useful knowledge as well as its effective organization and expression.Knowledge graphs have thus emerged, and knowledge reasoning based on this tool has become one of the hot spots of research. This paper first presents a brief introduction to the development of knowledge graphs and knowledge reasoning, and explores the significance of knowledge reasoning.Secondly, the mainstream knowledge reasoning methods, including knowledge reasoning based on traditional rules, knowledge reasoning based on distributed feature representation, and knowledge reasoning based on neural networks are introduced. Then, using stroke as an example, the knowledge reasoning methods are expounded, the principles and characteristics of commonly used knowledge reasoning methods are summarized, and the research and applications of knowledge reasoning techniques in TCM in recent years are sorted out. Finally,we summarize the problems faced in the development of knowledge reasoning in TCM,and put forward the importance of constructing a knowledge reasoning model suitable for the field of TCM. 展开更多

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) is an acute cardiac syndrome characterized by extensive, but potentially reversible, left ventricular dysfunction in the absence of an explanatory coronary obstruction. Thus, TCM is distinct from coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). However, substantial evidence for co-existing CAD in some TCM patients exist. Herein, we take this associa-tion one step further and present a case in which the patient simultaneously suffered from AMI and TCM, and in which we believe that a primary coronary event triggered TCM. An 88-year-old female presented with chest pain. Echocardiography revealed apical akinesia with hypercontractile bases. An occluded diagonal branch with suspected acute plaque rupture was identified on the angiogram, but could not explain the extent of akinesia. Cardiac function recovered completely. Thus, this patient adhered to current diagnostic criteria for TCM. TCM is a well-known complication for other conditions associated with somatic stress. It is therefore intuitive to assume that AMI, which also associates with somatic stress and elevated catecholamine, can cause TCM. Our case illustrates that TCM and AMI may occur simulta-neously. Although causality cannot be conclusively inferred from this association, the somatic stress associated with AMI may have caused TCM in this patient. 展开更多

Objective:Nature theory of Chinese medicine (CM) is the core basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), in which cold-hot nature is the focus of research. Studies have found that CM ingredients are the material basis for the production of medicine natures. Therefore, it is speculated that CMs with similar composition of substances should have similar medicinal nature. Modern work studies cold-hot medicine of CMs with chemical fingerprinting technology because the chemical fingerprint data of CM can reflect the whole composition of CM ingredients. Methods:To verify the hypothesis above, in this work, we study quantifying the similarity of CM ingredients to fingerprint similarity, and explore the relationship between the composition of CMs and cold-hot nature. Firstly, we utilize ultraviolet (UV) spectrum technology to analyze 61 CMs, which have clear cold-hot nature (including 30 ‘cold’ CMs and 31 ‘hot’ CMs). Secondly, with the constructed fingerprint database of CMs, a distance metric learning algorithm is studied to metric the similarity of UV fingerprints. Finally, a retrieval scheme is proposed to build a predictive identification model to identify cold-hot nature of CMs. Results:By means of numerous experiment analyses, ultraviolet spectrum data of petroleum ether solvent can better represent CMs to distinguish between cold and hot natures. Comparing with existing classical models, the proposed identification scheme has better predictive performance. Conclusion:The experimental results prove our inference that CMs with similar composition of substances should have similar medicinal nature. The proposed prediction model is proved to be effective and feasible. 展开更多
