The critical radius is determined by the growth rate, the mass transfer coefficient and the mass balance, and is independent of whether the limiting stationary growth regime has been obtained.展开更多

More than 200 data points were obtained and the characteristics and parametric trends were investigated. In the region of near and beyond pseudo-critical temperature the thermal-equilibrium is dominant, and the flow rate can be estimated by the modified homogeneous equilibrium model. In the below pseudo-critical region the results exhibit scattered feature as a result of hysteresis effect in the onset of vaporization, characterizing a bifurcation behavior. This effect is more significant in the nozzle with sharp-edge, especially at higher pressure. For temperature well below the pseudo-critical point, the flow is not at critical condition and the flow rate can be represented by the Bernoulli equation reasonably.展开更多

Additives (such as NH3.H2O, (NH4)2CO3, K2CO3) were selected to investigate the reactivity ofiminodiacetonitrile in the solutions of these species in the subcritical region for the possibility of preparing iminodiacetic acid (IDA) salts. A series of reactions were performed in a high temperature and pressure batch reactor with temperature ranging from 200 to 260 ℃, time ranging from 4 to 10 min, pressure ranging from 5 to 25 MPa and varying concentration of additives to consider the influence of these parameters on the yield of IDA salts. Reactivity of IDAN was not illustrated with the conversion but with respect to the yield of resultant IDA salts. The results demonstrate that hydrolysis reactivity of IDAN under the examined conditions has shown a remarkable sensitivity to the pH of the system at initial point of the reaction stage, and temperature effect is also obvious. Based on the results, possible reaction pathway and mechanism were proposed.展开更多

The solubility of piperine has been determined in carbon dioxide at near critical and supercritical conditions in a dynamic extraction apparatus. The conditions studied were at pressures ranging from 10 to 20 MPa and temperatures at 293, 300, 313, 323 and 333 K. The results showed that piperine solubility increased with increasing pressure at all temperatures studied. The solubility of plperme in near critical conditions was slightly higher than that at supercritical conditions only at the low-pressure range. Two semi-empirical density dependent correlations, namely the Chrastil model and the Dilute Solution model, were also used to estimate the solubility data. Although both models showed good correlation with the solubility data, the Dilute Solution model performed better prediction than the Chrastil model.展开更多

One group of the data were obtained in the inner diameter of 2.32, 5.16, 8.05, 10.0 and 16.0 mm, respectively, with the ranges of pressure of 0.1-1.92 MPa, velocity of 1.47-23.3 m/s, local subcooling of 3.7-108.7 ℃ and heat flux of up to 38.3 MW/m2. Another group of the data were obtained in the inner diameter of 4.62, 7.98 and 10.89 mm, respectively, with the ranges of pressure of 1.7-20.6 MPa, mass flux of 454-4,055 kg/(m2.s) and inlet subcooling of 53-361 ℃. The results showed complicated effects of the pressure, mass flux, subcooling and diameter on the critical heat flux. They were formulated by two empirical correlations. A mechanistic model on the limit of heat transfer capability from the bubbly layer to the subcooled core was also proposed for all the results.展开更多
