AIMTo analyse the impact of octogenarian donors in liver transplantation.METHODSWe present a retrospective single-center study, performed between November 1996 and March 2015, that comprises a sample of 153 liver tran...AIMTo analyse the impact of octogenarian donors in liver transplantation.METHODSWe present a retrospective single-center study, performed between November 1996 and March 2015, that comprises a sample of 153 liver transplants. Recipients were divided into two groups according to liver donor age: recipients of donors ≤ 65 years (group A; n = 102), and recipients of donors ≥ 80 years (group B; n = 51). A comparative analysis between the groups was performed. Quantitative variables were expressed as mean values and SD, and qualitative variables as percentages. Differences in properties between qualitative variables were assessed by χ<sup>2</sup> test. Comparison of quantitative variables was made by t-test. Graft and patient survivals were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method.RESULTSOne, 3 and 5-year overall patient survival was 87.3%, 84% and 75.2%, respectively, in recipients of younger grafts vs 88.2%, 84.1% and 66.4%, respectively, in recipients of octogenarian grafts (P = 0.748). One, 3 and 5-year overall graft survival was 84.3%, 83.1% and 74.2%, respectively, in recipients of younger grafts vs 84.3%, 79.4% and 64.2%, respectively, in recipients of octogenarian grafts (P = 0.524). After excluding the patients with hepatitis C virus cirrhosis (16 in group A and 10 in group B), the 1, 3 and 5-year patient (P = 0.657) and graft (P = 0.419) survivals were practically the same in both groups. Multivariate Cox regression analysis demonstrated that overall patient survival was adversely affected by cerebrovascular donor death, hepatocarcinoma, and recipient preoperative bilirubin, and overall graft survival was adversely influenced by cerebrovascular donor death, and recipient preoperative bilirubin.CONCLUSIONThe standard criteria for utilization of octogenarian liver grafts are: normal gross appearance and consistency, normal or almost normal liver tests, hemodynamic stability with use of < 10 μg/kg per minute of vasopressors before procurement, intensive care unit stay < 3 d, CIT < 9 h, absence of atherosclerosis in the hepatic and gastroduodenal arteries, and no relevant histological alterations in the pre-transplant biopsy, such as fibrosis, hepatitis, cholestasis or macrosteatosis > 30%.展开更多

Because we found nitrogen to be the principal shallow donor impurity in SiC by second...A model is presented to describe a compensation mechanism for semi-insulating 6H-SiC grown with the intentional doping of vanadium. Because we found nitrogen to be the principal shallow donor impurity in SiC by secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) measurements, semi-insulating properties in SiC are achieved by compensating the nitrogen donor with the vanadium deep acceptor level. The presence of different vanadium charge states V^3+ and V^4+ is detected by electron paramagnetic resonance and optical absorption measurements,which coincides with the results obtained by SIMS measurements. Both optical absorption and low temperature photoluminescence measurements reveal that the vanadium acceptor level is located at 0.62eV below the conduction band in 6H-SiC.展开更多

Through test analysis on the major,trace and rare earth...The Early Cretaceous granitic complex in Highland 1248 of Daxing'anling successively consists of intruded granodiorite,monzonite granite and syenite granite. Through test analysis on the major,trace and rare earth elements of the intrusive complex,this study focuses on the source characteristics and tectonic environment of the original magma of intrusive complex. The results show that the intrusive rocks in Highland 1248 are meta-aluminous-peraluminous rocks in calc-alkaline series with homologous characteristics in δEu negative anomalies; the complex is enriched in LILE( Rb,Cs and K) and depleted in HFSE( lanthanide,Sc,Y,U,Nb and Ta),displaying the geochemical characteristics of I-type granites in active continental-margin subduction zones. The complex also has the characteristics of granites after the collision of plate with rich aluminum and high potassium,but significantly depleted Nb,Ta,Ti,P and other elements,i. e. in the orogenic evolutionary stage. The zircon U-Pb SHRIMP isotopic apparent age of the complex in Highland 1248 is 140. 0--141. 0Ma,and the formation time is in Early Cretaceous.展开更多

In recent years,three-dimensional topological insulators(3DTI) as a novel state of quantum matter have become a hot topic in the fields of condensed matter physics and materials sciences.To fulfill many spectacularly ...In recent years,three-dimensional topological insulators(3DTI) as a novel state of quantum matter have become a hot topic in the fields of condensed matter physics and materials sciences.To fulfill many spectacularly novel quantum phenomena predicted in 3DTI,real host materials are of crucial importance.In this review paper,we first introduce general methods of searching for new 3DTI based on the density-functional theory.Then,we review the recent progress on materials realization of 3DTI including simple elements,binary compounds,ternary compounds,and quaternary compounds.In these potential host materials,some of them have already been confirmed by experiments while the others are not yet.The 3DTI discussed here does not contain the materials with strong electron-electron correlation.Lastly,we give a brief summary and some outlooks in further studies.展开更多

The modification details are presented in comparison with the base...This paper describes the improvement of leading edge film cooling effectiveness for a turbine inlet guide vane by using fan-shaped film cooling holes. The modification details are presented in comparison with the base-line configuration of cylindrical holes. Numerical simulations were carried out for the base-line and modified configurations by using CFX, in which the k-ε turbulence model and scalable wall function were chosen. Contours of adiabatic film cooling effectiveness on the blade surfaces and span-wise distributions of film cooling effectiveness downstream the rows of cooling holes interested for the different cooling configurations were compared and discussed. It is showed that with the use of fan-shaped cooling holes around the leading edge, the adiabatic film cooling effectiveness can be enhanced considerably. In comparison with the cylindrical film cooling holes, up to 40% coolant mass flow can be saved by using fan-shaped cooling holes to obtain the comparable film cooling effectiveness for the studied inlet guide vane.展开更多

In the course of this long process, it developed distinctive legal traditions, including a tradition that prioritized agriculture, a stress on criminal law at the expense of civil law, an ethical orientation that stressed the five Confucian relationships, an approach to the legal traditions of different ethnic groups that embraced diversity in unity, and a Confucianized legal system based on virtue and ritual. These legal traditions were all based on the accretion of a deep-rooted legal culture which embodied the wisdom and creativity of the Chinese people. At the same time, they bore the stamp of China's national conditions: an economic structure dominated by agriculture, an autocratic political system, a multi-ethnic national structure, the preeminent position of Confucian thought, the uneven development of politics, culture and the economy, etc.展开更多

The study shows that the slot width and the position of Er3+ in slot structure h...The spontaneous emission(SE) of Er3+ embedded in a double slot dielectric structure was studied by a quantum-electrodynamical formalism. The study shows that the slot width and the position of Er3+ in slot structure have a significant effect on the SE. The double slot waveguides were fabricated by embedding two low-index Er/Yb silicate material layers into high-index silicon. The radiative efficiency of Er3+ in the double slot waveguides is found to be higher than that of the single slot waveguide, which is consistent with the theory simulation. The 0.67 d B signal enhancement at 1.53 ?m in a 4.6-mm-long slot waveguide was observed pumped by 1476 nm laser. These results show the relevance of our model to study the SE processes in multilayer structures and are important for future realization of silicon-compatible active optical devices.展开更多
Given certain reactions to the ecological crisis as part of the multiple crisis of capitalism (like the so-called energy transition in Germany), a new mode of development might emerge which can be called green capit...Given certain reactions to the ecological crisis as part of the multiple crisis of capitalism (like the so-called energy transition in Germany), a new mode of development might emerge which can be called green capitalism. This would shift the terrain of social critique and emancipatory social struggles. The paper introduces the debate on "social-ecological transformation" which emerged as a radical part of a more comprehensive debate on "great" or "societal transformation" and high- lights its core issues: the issue of a necessary attractive mode of production and living for all, the role of pioneers of change and changing political and economic institutions, the acknowledgment of shifting social practices, the requirement for alternative imaginaries or "stories" of a good life as part of a contested process which is called "futuring." As an example for alternative imaginaries, the current debate on "degrowth" is outlined and evaluated. The second part of the paper focuses more concretely on issues around the formation and existence of a global green-left. After mentioning a crucial problem for any global alternative--i.e., the structural feature of economic and geopolitical competition which historically divided the global Left and pulled it into compromises at national or regional scales--four requirements or characteristics of a global green-left are highlighted: to weaken and change capitalistically driven competition and competitiveness, to push a social-ecological transformation in democratic ways and not at the back ofordinary people (like conservative and liberal proposals for transformation tend to do), to link more systematically green issues with labor issues and, finally, to transform the overall dispositive of political action from a "distributive" to a "transformative Left." One dimension of such an enhancement, it is concluded, is a broader understanding of the "economy" itself by acknowledging the demands and achievements of a "care revolution" which will be crucial for an alternative mode of production and living.展开更多
