With the introduction of the concept of cooperative learning among College oral English teaching, students could undergo all-round training in English proficiency, cooperative ability, self-learning ability and sense of competition. This paper mainly focuses on how to make full use of cooperative leaning in College oral English teaching, and tries to verify that cooperative leaning is a practical and effective teaching mode which could enhance the College oral English classroom teaching quality.展开更多

This article argues that both teacher control and learner autonomy play an important role in the process of foreign language learning. Too much or too little control may lead to the failure of learning effectively. Tasks can be accomplished effectively through teacher's balancing teacher control and learner autonomy. A teacher can play different roles in the process of teaching reading to balance teacher control and learner autonomy. In this way, teacher's proper control and learner freedom occur and language learning may be more effective.展开更多

Our aim was to systematically review the pathogenetic link between overweight/ obesity, dietary habits, physical activity and GERD, and the beneficial effect of specific recommended changes, by means of the available literature from the 1999 to the present. Obesity, in particular, abdominal obesity, plays a key role in determining GERD symptoms and complications through mechanical and metabolic effects. Controlled weight loss (by diet or surgery) is effective in improving GERD symptoms. No definitive data exist regarding the role of diet and, in particular, of specific foods or drinks, in influencing GERD clinical manifestations. Moderate physical activity seems to be beneficial for GERD, while vigorous activity may be dangerous in predisposed individuals. In conclusion, being obese/overweight and GERD-specific symptoms and endoscopic features are related, and weight loss significantly improves GERD clinical-endoscopic manifestations. The role of dietary behavior, mainly in terms of specific dietary components, remains controversial. Mild routine physical activity in association with diet modifications, i.e. a diet rich in fiber and low in fat, is advisable in preventing reflux symptoms.展开更多

The Variety of learning styles requires the variety of teaching strategies. The analysis of learners' learning styles is one of the factors on which the design of learning strategies should be based. Matching teaching strategies and mismatching strategies are chosen intentionally according to the teaching contents, the teaching goals, and the learner's learning styles. Matching teaching strategies can reach the best result of teaching and learning. On the contrary, mismatching strategies can remedy the disadvantages caused by learning styles and be helpful for the development of learning styles.展开更多

Traditional one-way teacher feedback with which the teachers usually make great efforts to mark out all errors had been proved to be unscientific. In this article, based on the specific situation in two English major classes in Wenhua Institute attached to HUST, a series of training and experiments were designed with the aim of proving the effect of peer evaluation in writing class. It is emphasized that language teachers should recognize the practical value of peer evaluation, and try to help students be involved in making peer responses in the writing process actively, so that students can get meaningful experience from evaluating their peers' writing, which, in turn, will enhance their own ability to produce more satisfactory essays.展开更多

The study collected data from 181 college English learners, nine college English teachers and two CET-4 raters through interview, observation and documentary analysis. Findings indicate that CET-4 writing subtest produces more negative impacts than positive ones. Moreover, the findings also indicate that the washback of CET-4 writing is weakened by other sections of the test.展开更多
