结合心理语言学的研究成果,通过实验对比,考查不同呈现模式下大学课堂习语习得效果,探讨在多媒体环境下,不同媒体呈现方式对二语词汇记忆的效果问题。研究采用单因素三水平被试内设计,通过考查多媒体CAI课件设计中的三种呈现方式对中等... 结合心理语言学的研究成果,通过实验对比,考查不同呈现模式下大学课堂习语习得效果,探讨在多媒体环境下,不同媒体呈现方式对二语词汇记忆的效果问题。研究采用单因素三水平被试内设计,通过考查多媒体CAI课件设计中的三种呈现方式对中等程度英语学习者习语习得的效果来探索切实有效的CAI习语教学策略。我们的研究和观察发现,在多媒体环境下,使用图片的多媒体习语教学方式在记忆效果上整体要优于仅使用文本的习语教学方式,在短期记忆方面,动态视屏方式相较于静态图片注释方式的优势不明显,不过在长期记忆方面使用动态视屏的多媒体注释方式能够获得最好的记忆存留效果。我们的研究进一步证实了多媒体技术对二语习语习得的促进作用。 展开更多

There has been a consensus that vocabulary knowledge has become a major contributor to L2 learners'efficient communication and comprehension.Incidental vocabulary acquisition relates to lexical gains as a by-product resulting from accomplishing another activity which is not aimed at learning vocabulary.This article intends to provide a digest of research on incidental vocabulary acquisition over the past few decades by primarily focusing on related theoretical frameworks,possible explanatory variables mediating incidental vocabulary learning,and tasks targeted at enhancing incidental lexical growth.In line with analyses of findings yielded from an impressive number of illuminating studies conducted,this article calls for a diversification of efforts in relation to multi-word lexical items,multi-modal e-learning technologies,and insights from neuroscience that may warrant more scholarly attention.These possible areas would further enrich the current scope of L2 incidental vocabulary acquisition research. 展开更多

Though collocations have drawn much attention in the field of language acquisition, difficulties with them have not been investigated in much detail. This paper reports on a corpus-based exploratory study that analyzes the mistakes learners made when they produced English collocations. The current study shows that not only beginners but also advanced learners have difficulties in choosing the right collocates and the difficulties that learners of different levels have are more or less the same. The L1 influence on the production of L2 collocations exists at every stage of learning though it varies with the learners' L2 competence. 展开更多

This paper reports an empirical study that examined the widespread practice of using songs in language teaching for young learners. The study may represent the first methodologically rigorous assessment of vocabulary acquisition through songs as used in language teaching. Over a seven-week period including fifteen 40-minute classes, three groups of students from two private kindergartens in Beijing were taught five short English phrases of 4-8 words through each of three conditions (songs, choral repetition, control) in a within-subject repeated measures design. Vocabulary acquisition was measured by the number of meaningful morphemes produced by the students in a picture description task administered before and after the teaching period. Results indicated significant acquisition for items learned through songs and choral repetition, but not for control items. The implication is that songs may indeed contain important pedagogical value. 展开更多
