Methods Ma...Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the application of mammography combined with breast dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI) for the diagnosis of early breast cancer. Methods Mammography and DCE-MRI were performed for 120 patients with breast cancer(malignant, 102; benign; 18). Results The sensitivity of mammography for early diagnosis of breast cancer was 66.67%, specificity was 77.78%, and accuracy was 68.33%. The sensitivity of MRI for early diagnosis of breast cancer was 94.12%, specificity was 88.89%, and accuracy was 93.33%. However, the sensitivity of mammography combined with DCE-MRI volume imaging with enhanced water signal(VIEWS) scanning for early diagnosis of breast cancer was 97.06%, specificity was 94.44%, and accuracy was 96.67%. Conclusion Mammography combined with DCE-MRI increased the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of diagnosing early breast cancer.展开更多

Boswellia sacra is a multipurpose tree, but more famous for its high value olibanum. The olibanum is used for ritual and in church ceremonies worldwide, traditional medicines, pharmaceutical, perfumery, cosmetics, chewing, painting, food flavouring. In addition to this, the species has other numerous environmental, historical, and socio-economical benefits. This study is based on literature reviews, and on the interview local people, as well as on personal field experiences. The objective is to introduce the importance of the species and to study the native habitats, the distribution, and the harvesting techniques. The soil is carbonitic, isohypertherrnic, lithic torriothent, poor in mineral elements. The olibanum produces when the tree tapped by making a thin vertical slicing into the tree trunk. Initial size should be about 18 cm2 (3 × 6 cm) and 1-2 mm in depth and the diameter tree trunk should be not less than 10 cm. Tree tapping should be stopped 2-3 weeks before the rain season. The method of tree tapping and olibanum collection need to be revised for long-term tree protection.展开更多

The coating process was done using emulsi...An attempt was made to improve the adsorption capability of the normal sand to be used as adsorbent for phenol and cadmium This has been done by producing a coated sand media. The coating process was done using emulsion asphalt to convert the normal sand to carbonated sand by using chemical treatment with sulfuric acid. The production process involves mixing of the sand with asphalt and an acid, then subjecting the mix to a heating process. Different mixing ratios, heating temperatures and times (activation times) were tried to obtain the optimum conditions at which the highest removal efficiency is obtained. Three types of acids were tried acetic acid, phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid. It was found that the sulfuric acid requires the lowest activation time, hence selected for the production. The removal efficiency of the produced media was significantly affected by the temperature, mixing ratio and activation heating time. The results show that, the optimum conditions for the production process are 350 , (1:2:3) (Asphalt/acid/sand) and 52 min for temperature, mixing ratio and activation heating time respectively. The final product was tested and found effective as an adsorbent media for phenol and cadmium. The removal efficiencies of these two pollutants in a batch adsorber were found 82.42% and 86.67%, respectively. The X-R diffraction and FTIR spectra tests had proved this media as an adsorbent.展开更多

Methods: The study included a retrospective series of 62 female patients with axillary lymph node-negative breast cancer. Expressions of PAl-1, C-erbB-2, VEGF and Ki-67 were determined by immunohistostaining on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections from these patients after a median follow-up of 69 months (range 22-117 months). Correlations with well known clinicopathologic factors were assessed and multivariate survival analyses were performed. Results: High PAl-1 level was positively associated with high histologic grade of the tumors. Disease-free survival (DFS) was significantly shorter for the patients with moderate to intensive expression of PAl-1 than for those with negative (χ^2 = 25.46, P 〈 0.001; χ^2 = 23.07, P 〈 0.001) to mild expression (χ^2 = 19.75, P 〈 0.001; χ^2 = 17.40, P 〈 0.001). Although on univariate analysis of the prognostic factors, tumor size, location of primary tumor and age as well as expressions of PAl-1, VEGF and Ki-67 were all significantly prognostic factors for DFS (P 〈 0.05), PAl-1 was the only independent prognostic factor on multivariate analysis (P 〈 0.0001; hazard ratio [HR], 4.041; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.928-8.468). Conclusion: These results of the current study indicate that intermediate or high expression of PAl-1 represents a strong and independent unfavorable prognostic factor for the development of recurrence or metastases in axillary node-negative breast cancer.展开更多

Value added dahi (VAD) ...A study was conducted for the development of value added dahi by incorporating fruit pulps, cereal flour and whey proteins concentrate (WHC) to increase the nutritional and sensory quality. Value added dahi (VAD) was prepared by using skim milk, oat flour and WPC. VAD with 1% oat flour, 1% whey protein concentrate was found to be highly acceptable by sensory evaluation and curd tension study. Statistically there was a highly significant difference (P 〈 0.05) between skim milk dahi (control) and VAD VAD scored highest sensory score for all the sensory parameters studied. Curd tension found to be markedly increased in value added dahi with increased firmness of the product. Value added stirred dahi was prepared with oat flour, whey protein concentrate, papaya, fig pulps and sugar with different combination in order to assess the suitable level of addition with maximum acceptability. Value added stirred dahi (VADl) with 1% oat flour, 1% WPC, 5% papaya pulp, 4% sugar combination was found to be acceptable among the other combinations. Storage studies evaluated by sensory score revealed that the value added dahi can be stored up to 7 days at 5 ^(2. A significant increase in acidity and decrease in pH were noticed in the VAD1 during the storage period but within the permissible limit. Statistical analysis revealed no significance difference (P 〉 0.05) in total count and yeast and mould count between VAD0 (control) and VADl during storage 5 ~C. Total yield of value added dahi increased along with cost of production due to increased cost of ingredients (fruits and whey protein concentrate) used for value addition.展开更多

The development of fruit and fiavoured yoghurt resulted in this product of major importance in markets. Garlic is a common food spice and herbal medicine for preventing of many human diseases. This study was conducted to analyze physicochemical properties of yoghurt by incorporating of garlic paste at different concentrations. Yoghurt mixtures were prepared with 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 3% garlic paste, and without garlic paste as a control. They were subjected into chemical, sensorial and microbial assessment during the storage period of four weeks. At the first week, the chemical attributes, such as ash, dry matter, total sugar, reducing sugar and pH show significantly (P 〈 0.05) higher in 3% garlic added yoghurt. On the other hand, titrable acidity was higher in yoghurt made without garlic paste. At the fourth week of storage period, 3% garlic added yoghurt received higher mean value for ash, dry matter, total sugar, reducing sugar and pH. Similarly, yoghurt made without garlic received higher mean value for titrable acidity. Garlic reduced the bacterial load in the yoghurt, as bacterial count was decreased with increase in the concentration of garlic paste. Finally, organoleptic assessment revealed that there were (P 〈 0.05) changes among the treatments in the sensory attributes. Although, yoghurt made from 1% of garlic at the first week of storage showed the best overall acceptability compared with other all treatments, such as values of ash, dry matter, total sugar and reducing sugar were 0.61%±0.05%, 14.73% ± 3%, 12.7% ± 1.57% and 1.86% ± 0.19%, respectively.展开更多

Methods: Total 36 patients suspected of breast neoplasm were enrolled into the research. The result was compared with the pathology result. The rate of missed diagnosis, the rate of mi.sdiagnosis. the sensitivity and specificity were calculated and analyzed. Results:Compared with the pathology results, the misdiagnosis rate. the rate of missed diagnosis. the sensitivity and specificity of FDG-PET for breast cancer were 0% , 36. 36%. 63. 63% and 100%, respectively. To those who had a neoplasm no more than 2 cm in diameter, the rate of missed diagnosis was as high as 41. 67%. To 33 breast cancer patients, the misdiagnosis rate, the rate of missed diagnosis, the sensitivity and specificity for lymph node metastasis were 18. 75%, 41. 18%, 58. 82% and 81. 25%, respectively. Conclusion:FDG-PET has a perfect specificity and a considerable sensitivity to the primary breast neoplasm and similar to the lymph node metastasis diagnosis. It is an ideal choice for those patients with suspected breast cancer but reluctantly to receive a vulnerarious examination.展开更多

Methods: The 538 patients with primary breast cancer who underwent surgery in the Department of Breast Surgery, First Hospital of China Medical University, Shenyang, China, from January 2004 to January 2009 were included in the study. The psychological status of the patients was evaluated by body image after breast cancer questionnaire (BIBCQ), social support rating scale (SSRS), self-rating anxiety scale (SRAS), depression rating scale (DRS), and general information questionnaire. The factors influencing the self-image were selected by a stepwise regression analysis. Results: The patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery were the most satisfied with their body image, followed by those underwent surgery of modified radical mastectomy with reconstruction. However, cases treated by modified radical mastectomy without reconstruction had negative outcomes. Regardless of operation type, the self-image was influenced by anxiety, level of abuse by husband, and sexual satisfaction after operation. Conclusion: The self-image of patients who underwent different breast cancer surgeries was influenced by different factors, and individualized nursing should be offered in accordance with the specific situation.展开更多

However, the main problem associated with probiotics is their low resistance to environmental and technological factors. In this sense, capsules can provide a shell protection and a dosage form that is easy to swallow. For these reasons, the aim of this study was to evaluate the survival of Lactobacillusfermentum CECT 5716 in gelatin and gastro-resistant capsules during a period of 12 months at RT (room temperature) and 4 ℃. The number of encapsulated cells remained relatively constant after six months of storage, since there were no statistically significant differences compared to the initial time (p 〉 0.05). Moreover, capsules are able to maintain a therapeutic level of bacteria (109 CFU/capsule) during the total period of storage. Gelatin capsules seem to protect worse probiotic than gastro-resistant (HPMC (hydroxy propyi methyl cellulose)) capsules. Furthermore, capsules stored at 4 ℃ show a low level of viability. These results suggest that HPMC capsules are an optimal dosage form for L. fermentum CECT 5716 and that the recommended condition of storage is room temperature rather than 4 ℃.展开更多

Methods: Date of the 65 patients from 2003 to 2004 were retrospectively analyzed, relationship between LDH and β2-MG activities and tumor phase, effect of treat- ment as well as prognosis were studied. Results: The levels of LDH and β2-MG in the advanced stage, B group and bone marrow involvement were obviously higher than their comparison counterpart and the difference was significant (P 〈 0.05). There was no significant difference between the high LDH group and normal LDH group in the two-year survival rate. But the difference in the four-year survival rate was significance. Conclusion: The level of LDH and β2-MG are valuable for clinical stage, prognosis and evaluation of therapeutic response in patients with NHL.展开更多
A study was conducted to determine the productive and reproductive performance of dairy cattle reared in major milk production area of Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts of Nepal, as well as determining the existing br...A study was conducted to determine the productive and reproductive performance of dairy cattle reared in major milk production area of Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts of Nepal, as well as determining the existing breeding scenario of cattle farming followed by the farmers. Five years (2008-2012) of data of 728 animals send to data management section of Animal Breeding Division under Dairy Cattle Improvement Program (DCIP) were reviewed and analyzed. Similarly, monthly data recording of 380 animals taken from May 2012 to April 2013 were used to find out information on reproductive performance. Average milk yield, fat percentage and protein percentage of cattle were observed 2,841 ± 84.9 kg, 4.43% ± 0.66% and 3.33% ± 0.17%, respectively, and the effect of genotype on these traits were found significant (P 〈 0.001, P 〈 0.001 and P 〈 0.01, respectively). Similarly, calving interval, post-partum estrus, post-partum conception, age at maturity and age at first calving were observed 422.8 ± 7.71, 108.9 ± 6.13, 149.93 ± 27.04, 498.5 ±16.32 and 816.0 ±17.41 d, respectively. Age at maturity and age at first calving was significantly affected by genotype (P 〈 0.01 and P 〈 0.05, respectively). In addition, average number of insemination per conception was observed 1.38 in survey household. Breeding system of cattle followed by the farmers were found satisfactory in the survey household, but needs gradual improvement. It was observed that offspring of cross between Jersey and Holstein performed better in terms of productive and reproductive performance in farmer managed condition of Nepal. Therefore, rotational crossing of Jersey and Holstein for maintaining blood level between 50% and 75% of either breed is the best choice for farmers.展开更多

The purpose of this work is to offer a fermented milk, potentially hypoallergenic, using selected Lactobaeillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria sp. for their proteolytic activities. The fermentation is evaluated by the rate of lactic acid production and by the bacterial enumeration at 45 ℃. The rate of acidification obtained by mixed cultures (La + B. longum, 63.8 ± 3.5 °D) and (La + B. breve, 43.4 ± 1.67 °D) compared with the control (milk) (18.6 ± 1.31 °D). The result of the best hydrolysis was obtained by (La+ B. longum) (154.88 ± 30.33 ug/mg) which corresponded to a better release of the a-NH2 functions (103.32 ± 12.81 umoles/mg) compared with control (307.2 ± 11.54 ug/mg and 10.25 ± 0.44 umoles/mg ). The best synergy was obtained by (La + B. bifidum) (13 × 10^6 cfu/mL and 60 × 10^6 cfu/mL) and reached 95 × 10^10 cfu/mL and 119 × 10^10 cfu/mg at the end. The electrophoresis of fermented milk revealed the presence of soluble proteins (a-Lactalbumin and β-Lactoglobulin). The Enzyme Linked Immtmo Sorbent Assay showed the results of residual antigenic activities of β-Lg (1.4 ± 0.23 ug/mg), a-La (0.012 ± 0.004 ug/mg) and bovin serum albumin (0.014 ± 0.005 ug/mg)by the associations (La + B. longum), (La + B. bifidum) and (La + B. bifidum) compared with the control (14.43 ± 5.91 ug/mg, 0.183 ± 0.062 gg/mg, 0.05 ± 0.008 ug/mg) respectively. Lactic fermentation reduced to a significant antigenic reactivity of principal whey milk proteins.展开更多

This major public health problem makes them important targets in the researches of papillomavirus detection methods. Since the early diagnosis of this virus infection would prevent neoplasia and cervical cancer, therefore in this study the combination of molecular and cytological methods were used to show the occurrence of the infection in women referred to Baghiatollah clinic of Shiraz. The results showed out of 110 cases, two samples were positive by PCR using GP5/6 primers but Pap smears showed only one sample of abnormal cytology. The rest 108 samples were negative by PCR and had normal cytology. The samples (1.82%) in evaluated women. present study showed a low occurrence of HPV infection in cervical展开更多

The search for alternative cheaper cocoa butter substitute with the similar physical properties, fatty acid and triglyceride content has been proposed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential ofcbeaper and processed (fractionated- or deodorized-) shea butter (FSB or DSB) to partly substitute 5% and 7.5% cocoa butter in chocolate production. The proximate composition, microbiological and sensory qualities, as well as estimated cost of the formulated chocolate products were determined and compared with that of the 100% cocoa butter chocolate as control. Results showed that all the shea butter substituted chocolate samples varying in percentages of incorporation had acceptable proximate composition and microbial quality according to the international standards. Also, there were no significant differences (P 〉 0.05) among all the five samples in terms of flavour, after-taste and texture except for the 7.5% FSB substituted chocolate which differed significantly (P 〈 0.05) from the other samples in terms of overall acceptability, thus 7.5% FSB was less preferred by consumers. FSB is cheaper than DSB based on the world market price quotes. Thus the current study recommends the use of FSB for chocolate confectioneries at 5% substitution rate for cocoa butter could help reduce the cost of chocolate production and increase turnovers.展开更多

Expressions of PAl-1, C-erbB-2, VEGF and Ki-67 were determined by immunohistostaining on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections from these patients after a median follow-up of 69 months (range 22-117 months). Correlations with well known clinicopathologic factors were assessed and multivariate survival analyses were performed. Results: High PAl-1 level was positively associated with high histologic grade of the tumors. Disease-free survival (DFS) was significantly shorter for the patients with moderate to intensive expression of PAl-1 than for those with negative (χ^2 = 25.46, P 〈 0.001; χ^2 = 23.07, P 〈 0.001) to mild expression (χ^2 = 19.75, P 〈 0.001; χ^2 = 17.40, P 〈 0.001). Although on univariate analysis of the prognostic factors, tumor size, location of primary tumor and age as well as expressions of PAl-1, VEGF and Ki-67 were all significantly prognostic factors for DFS (P 〈 0.05), PAl-1 was the only independent prognostic factor on multivariate analysis (P 〈 0.0001; hazard ratio [HR], 4.041; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.928-8.468). Conclusion: These results of the current study indicate that intermediate or high expression of PAl-1 represents a strong and independent unfavorable prognostic factor for the development of recurrence or metastases in axillary node-negative breast cancer.

文摘D,L-lactide was prepared from D,L-lactic acid by means of polymerization and depolymerization at low vacuum level.Morpholine-2,5-dione(MD) was synthesized from the cyclization of chloroacetyl glycine which was made from chloroacetyl chloride and glycine in the basic condition.A novel copolymer(PLAMD) with D,L-lactide(D,L-LA) and morpholine-2,5-dione(MD) was synthesized using stannous octoate as initiator,and characterized with FT-IR and 1HNMR.The biocompatibility of PLAMD and PLA was investigated by MTT and microscope.The results show that amino acid is introduced into PDLLA main chain.PLAMD has better cell affinity than PLA,so it is a promising biomaterial.
文摘A study was conducted for the development of value added dahi by incorporating fruit pulps, cereal flour and whey proteins concentrate (WHC) to increase the nutritional and sensory quality. Value added dahi (VAD) was prepared by using skim milk, oat flour and WPC. VAD with 1% oat flour, 1% whey protein concentrate was found to be highly acceptable by sensory evaluation and curd tension study. Statistically there was a highly significant difference (P 〈 0.05) between skim milk dahi (control) and VAD VAD scored highest sensory score for all the sensory parameters studied. Curd tension found to be markedly increased in value added dahi with increased firmness of the product. Value added stirred dahi was prepared with oat flour, whey protein concentrate, papaya, fig pulps and sugar with different combination in order to assess the suitable level of addition with maximum acceptability. Value added stirred dahi (VADl) with 1% oat flour, 1% WPC, 5% papaya pulp, 4% sugar combination was found to be acceptable among the other combinations. Storage studies evaluated by sensory score revealed that the value added dahi can be stored up to 7 days at 5 ^(2. A significant increase in acidity and decrease in pH were noticed in the VAD1 during the storage period but within the permissible limit. Statistical analysis revealed no significance difference (P 〉 0.05) in total count and yeast and mould count between VAD0 (control) and VADl during storage 5 ~C. Total yield of value added dahi increased along with cost of production due to increased cost of ingredients (fruits and whey protein concentrate) used for value addition.
文摘Yoghurt has greater popularity among fermented milk products. The development of fruit and fiavoured yoghurt resulted in this product of major importance in markets. Garlic is a common food spice and herbal medicine for preventing of many human diseases. This study was conducted to analyze physicochemical properties of yoghurt by incorporating of garlic paste at different concentrations. Yoghurt mixtures were prepared with 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 3% garlic paste, and without garlic paste as a control. They were subjected into chemical, sensorial and microbial assessment during the storage period of four weeks. At the first week, the chemical attributes, such as ash, dry matter, total sugar, reducing sugar and pH show significantly (P 〈 0.05) higher in 3% garlic added yoghurt. On the other hand, titrable acidity was higher in yoghurt made without garlic paste. At the fourth week of storage period, 3% garlic added yoghurt received higher mean value for ash, dry matter, total sugar, reducing sugar and pH. Similarly, yoghurt made without garlic received higher mean value for titrable acidity. Garlic reduced the bacterial load in the yoghurt, as bacterial count was decreased with increase in the concentration of garlic paste. Finally, organoleptic assessment revealed that there were (P 〈 0.05) changes among the treatments in the sensory attributes. Although, yoghurt made from 1% of garlic at the first week of storage showed the best overall acceptability compared with other all treatments, such as values of ash, dry matter, total sugar and reducing sugar were 0.61%±0.05%, 14.73% ± 3%, 12.7% ± 1.57% and 1.86% ± 0.19%, respectively.
文摘Objective: To analyze the result of 18F-2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-glucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) in suspicious primary breast cancer patients and to evaluate its value for the surgery therapy. Methods: Total 36 patients suspected of breast neoplasm were enrolled into the research. The result was compared with the pathology result. The rate of missed diagnosis, the rate of mi.sdiagnosis. the sensitivity and specificity were calculated and analyzed. Results:Compared with the pathology results, the misdiagnosis rate. the rate of missed diagnosis. the sensitivity and specificity of FDG-PET for breast cancer were 0% , 36. 36%. 63. 63% and 100%, respectively. To those who had a neoplasm no more than 2 cm in diameter, the rate of missed diagnosis was as high as 41. 67%. To 33 breast cancer patients, the misdiagnosis rate, the rate of missed diagnosis, the sensitivity and specificity for lymph node metastasis were 18. 75%, 41. 18%, 58. 82% and 81. 25%, respectively. Conclusion:FDG-PET has a perfect specificity and a considerable sensitivity to the primary breast neoplasm and similar to the lymph node metastasis diagnosis. It is an ideal choice for those patients with suspected breast cancer but reluctantly to receive a vulnerarious examination.
文摘Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the level of self-image of patients after breast cancer surgery, and explore factors influencing self-image among patients who have experienced different types of surgeries, and set out a foundation for the improvement of care strategies. Methods: The 538 patients with primary breast cancer who underwent surgery in the Department of Breast Surgery, First Hospital of China Medical University, Shenyang, China, from January 2004 to January 2009 were included in the study. The psychological status of the patients was evaluated by body image after breast cancer questionnaire (BIBCQ), social support rating scale (SSRS), self-rating anxiety scale (SRAS), depression rating scale (DRS), and general information questionnaire. The factors influencing the self-image were selected by a stepwise regression analysis. Results: The patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery were the most satisfied with their body image, followed by those underwent surgery of modified radical mastectomy with reconstruction. However, cases treated by modified radical mastectomy without reconstruction had negative outcomes. Regardless of operation type, the self-image was influenced by anxiety, level of abuse by husband, and sexual satisfaction after operation. Conclusion: The self-image of patients who underwent different breast cancer surgeries was influenced by different factors, and individualized nursing should be offered in accordance with the specific situation.
文摘Different studies have attributed health benefits to Lactobacillus fermentum CECT 5716. However, the main problem associated with probiotics is their low resistance to environmental and technological factors. In this sense, capsules can provide a shell protection and a dosage form that is easy to swallow. For these reasons, the aim of this study was to evaluate the survival of Lactobacillusfermentum CECT 5716 in gelatin and gastro-resistant capsules during a period of 12 months at RT (room temperature) and 4 ℃. The number of encapsulated cells remained relatively constant after six months of storage, since there were no statistically significant differences compared to the initial time (p 〉 0.05). Moreover, capsules are able to maintain a therapeutic level of bacteria (109 CFU/capsule) during the total period of storage. Gelatin capsules seem to protect worse probiotic than gastro-resistant (HPMC (hydroxy propyi methyl cellulose)) capsules. Furthermore, capsules stored at 4 ℃ show a low level of viability. These results suggest that HPMC capsules are an optimal dosage form for L. fermentum CECT 5716 and that the recommended condition of storage is room temperature rather than 4 ℃.
文摘Objective: To evaluate the clinical significance of quantitative determination of serum lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) and beta 2-microgtobulin (β2-MG) in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Methods: Date of the 65 patients from 2003 to 2004 were retrospectively analyzed, relationship between LDH and β2-MG activities and tumor phase, effect of treat- ment as well as prognosis were studied. Results: The levels of LDH and β2-MG in the advanced stage, B group and bone marrow involvement were obviously higher than their comparison counterpart and the difference was significant (P 〈 0.05). There was no significant difference between the high LDH group and normal LDH group in the two-year survival rate. But the difference in the four-year survival rate was significance. Conclusion: The level of LDH and β2-MG are valuable for clinical stage, prognosis and evaluation of therapeutic response in patients with NHL.
文摘A study was conducted to determine the productive and reproductive performance of dairy cattle reared in major milk production area of Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts of Nepal, as well as determining the existing breeding scenario of cattle farming followed by the farmers. Five years (2008-2012) of data of 728 animals send to data management section of Animal Breeding Division under Dairy Cattle Improvement Program (DCIP) were reviewed and analyzed. Similarly, monthly data recording of 380 animals taken from May 2012 to April 2013 were used to find out information on reproductive performance. Average milk yield, fat percentage and protein percentage of cattle were observed 2,841 ± 84.9 kg, 4.43% ± 0.66% and 3.33% ± 0.17%, respectively, and the effect of genotype on these traits were found significant (P 〈 0.001, P 〈 0.001 and P 〈 0.01, respectively). Similarly, calving interval, post-partum estrus, post-partum conception, age at maturity and age at first calving were observed 422.8 ± 7.71, 108.9 ± 6.13, 149.93 ± 27.04, 498.5 ±16.32 and 816.0 ±17.41 d, respectively. Age at maturity and age at first calving was significantly affected by genotype (P 〈 0.01 and P 〈 0.05, respectively). In addition, average number of insemination per conception was observed 1.38 in survey household. Breeding system of cattle followed by the farmers were found satisfactory in the survey household, but needs gradual improvement. It was observed that offspring of cross between Jersey and Holstein performed better in terms of productive and reproductive performance in farmer managed condition of Nepal. Therefore, rotational crossing of Jersey and Holstein for maintaining blood level between 50% and 75% of either breed is the best choice for farmers.
文摘Cow's milk constitutes a significant food for babies when mother's milk is insufficient. The purpose of this work is to offer a fermented milk, potentially hypoallergenic, using selected Lactobaeillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria sp. for their proteolytic activities. The fermentation is evaluated by the rate of lactic acid production and by the bacterial enumeration at 45 ℃. The rate of acidification obtained by mixed cultures (La + B. longum, 63.8 ± 3.5 °D) and (La + B. breve, 43.4 ± 1.67 °D) compared with the control (milk) (18.6 ± 1.31 °D). The result of the best hydrolysis was obtained by (La+ B. longum) (154.88 ± 30.33 ug/mg) which corresponded to a better release of the a-NH2 functions (103.32 ± 12.81 umoles/mg) compared with control (307.2 ± 11.54 ug/mg and 10.25 ± 0.44 umoles/mg ). The best synergy was obtained by (La + B. bifidum) (13 × 10^6 cfu/mL and 60 × 10^6 cfu/mL) and reached 95 × 10^10 cfu/mL and 119 × 10^10 cfu/mg at the end. The electrophoresis of fermented milk revealed the presence of soluble proteins (a-Lactalbumin and β-Lactoglobulin). The Enzyme Linked Immtmo Sorbent Assay showed the results of residual antigenic activities of β-Lg (1.4 ± 0.23 ug/mg), a-La (0.012 ± 0.004 ug/mg) and bovin serum albumin (0.014 ± 0.005 ug/mg)by the associations (La + B. longum), (La + B. bifidum) and (La + B. bifidum) compared with the control (14.43 ± 5.91 ug/mg, 0.183 ± 0.062 gg/mg, 0.05 ± 0.008 ug/mg) respectively. Lactic fermentation reduced to a significant antigenic reactivity of principal whey milk proteins.
文摘Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) infect mucosal and cutaneous epithelia and cause malignancy and neoplastic lesions. These viruses cause 25,000 deaths per year from cervical cancer most often in developing countries. This major public health problem makes them important targets in the researches of papillomavirus detection methods. Since the early diagnosis of this virus infection would prevent neoplasia and cervical cancer, therefore in this study the combination of molecular and cytological methods were used to show the occurrence of the infection in women referred to Baghiatollah clinic of Shiraz. The results showed out of 110 cases, two samples were positive by PCR using GP5/6 primers but Pap smears showed only one sample of abnormal cytology. The rest 108 samples were negative by PCR and had normal cytology. The samples (1.82%) in evaluated women. present study showed a low occurrence of HPV infection in cervical
文摘Natural cocoa butter is expensive but a major ingredient used for the manufacture of chocolate. The search for alternative cheaper cocoa butter substitute with the similar physical properties, fatty acid and triglyceride content has been proposed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential ofcbeaper and processed (fractionated- or deodorized-) shea butter (FSB or DSB) to partly substitute 5% and 7.5% cocoa butter in chocolate production. The proximate composition, microbiological and sensory qualities, as well as estimated cost of the formulated chocolate products were determined and compared with that of the 100% cocoa butter chocolate as control. Results showed that all the shea butter substituted chocolate samples varying in percentages of incorporation had acceptable proximate composition and microbial quality according to the international standards. Also, there were no significant differences (P 〉 0.05) among all the five samples in terms of flavour, after-taste and texture except for the 7.5% FSB substituted chocolate which differed significantly (P 〈 0.05) from the other samples in terms of overall acceptability, thus 7.5% FSB was less preferred by consumers. FSB is cheaper than DSB based on the world market price quotes. Thus the current study recommends the use of FSB for chocolate confectioneries at 5% substitution rate for cocoa butter could help reduce the cost of chocolate production and increase turnovers.

文摘Adhesion of leukocytes to endothelium plays an important role in inflammation-associated diseases.Our previous studies showed that multivalent lactosides were able to inhibit this process.Using 2-azide-l,3-propandiol and glutamic acid as spacers,we synthesized divalent lactoside An-2 and tetravalent lactoside Gu-4 by means of convergent method.These two compounds displayed high anti-adhesive activity and showed therapeutic effect in rats with severe burn shock.In addition, investigation of the anti-adhesion biological mechanism using labeled compounds YAn-2 and YGu-4 demonstrated that the target of multivalent lactosides was CD11b,theβ2 integrin subunit,on the surface of leukocytes.In this paper,the synthesis of these two new multivalent lactosides as well as their fluorescein-labeled and biotin-labeled compounds is reported.
