In order to obtain lower BSFC (brake specific fuel consumption), DME (dimethyl ether) is heated and introduced into air intake, together with fueling emulsified fuel to diesel engine. Results show that BSFC can decrease about 10% and diesel fuel consumption alone can decrease 18%. High saving rate of BSFC up to 10% is also acquired using ethanol instead of DME. To achieve high saving rate of BSFC, the heating temperature of about 1000 K is needed for DME operation, while the diesel engine exhaust temperature of about 750 K is suitable for ethanol. Hydrogen produced in DME or ethanol pyrolysis and the combustion characters of emulsified fuel are considered as main reasons for the excellent fuel saving. Besides, the technique adopted in the present work is extremely easy to be utilized, and may be firstly adopted on diesel engines for power plants, trains, and ships etc.展开更多

One hundred sixty eight broilers (Arbor Acres; 1 wk old) were randomly assigned to 8 groups. Each group (male 21 and female 21 broiler chickens) was further randomly divided into 3 replicates of 7 chickens were assigned to 4 dietary treatments (0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5% CLA). Feed consumption and BW were recorded at every 7-day period. On day 56, and each week were collected at ileal content in small intestine for the total count of lactic acid bacteria (LAB). There were highly significant differences in body weight gain, average dairy feed intake, average dairy gain and feed conversion ratio among the treatments (P 〈 0.01). Moreover, our results revealed that the highest detection trend from the ileal occurred during the period in the supplementation of CLA.展开更多

Seven impact categories were selected for the impact analysis: abiotic depletion potential fossil fuels(ADP), global warming potential(GWP), acidification potential(AP), eutrophication potential(EP), photochemical ozone formation potential(POCP), human toxicity potential(HTP), and terrestrial ecotoxicity potential(TETP). The results of the LCA are discussed and the results show that production of products is the highest stage of the environmental impact. Meanwhile, in the entire life cycle, the top three environmental impact categories are GWP, ADP and HTP,which account for 32.63%, 24.83% and 14.01%, respectively. The LCA results show that the environmental impact can be reduced in several ways: reducing the consumption of electricity, increasing the input of new energy, increasing the conversion rate of materials in the production process, using organic and water-soluble fertilizers instead of conventional fertilizers, using environment-friendly fuels and establishing a sound recycling system.展开更多
