It discusses two typological models dealing with the basic metaphysical ...The article seeks to elucidate the status of transcendence in the historiography of secularization through the perspective of collective memory. It discusses two typological models dealing with the basic metaphysical problem concerned with the presence and meaning of transcendence in real human existence. According to the first, the historical reality of secularization causes a break from the collective memory whose roots are in religion. In contrast, the second model considers that despite the deep transformations in the status of religion in a reality of secularization, an experience of historical continuity may also occur there. These models denote the two poles in the argument about the meaning and value of history for modem people. The article suggests a phenomenological analysis of the two models and criticizes their deficiencies. Finally, the "tension model" is outlined as a third alternative that aims at overcoming the binary situation created by the first two in favor of a perspective that necessitates and contains both immanence and transcendence.展开更多

Local Binary Pattern (LBP) has been proved to be successful for f...It is one of the major challenges for face recognition to minimize the disadvantage of il- lumination variations of face images in different scenarios. Local Binary Pattern (LBP) has been proved to be successful for face recognition. However, it is still very rare to take LBP as an illumination preprocessing approach. In this paper, we propose a new LBP-based multi-scale illumination pre- processing method. This method mainly includes three aspects: threshold adjustment, multi-scale addition and symmetry restoration/neighborhood replacement. Our experiment results show that the proposed method performs better than the existing LBP-based methods at the point of illumination preprocessing. Moreover, compared with some face image preprocessing methods, such as histogram equalization, Gamma transformation, Retinex, and simplified LBP operator, our method can effectively improve the robustness for face recognition against illumination variation, and achieve higher recog- nition rate.展开更多
The current literature lacks uniform calculation methods for following trajectory control for autonomous vehicles,including the calculation of errors,determination of tracking points,and design of feedforward controll...The current literature lacks uniform calculation methods for following trajectory control for autonomous vehicles,including the calculation of errors,determination of tracking points,and design of feedforward controllers.Hence,a complete calculation method is proposed to address this gap.First,a control equation in the form of an error is obtained according to the dynamic equation of the vehicle coordinate system and the trajectory following model.Secondly,the deviation of the vehicle state is obtained according to the current vehicle s state and the following control model.Finally,a linear quadratic regulator(LQR)controller with feedforward control is designed according to the characteristics of the dynamic equation.With the proposed LQR,the simulation of computational time,anti-interference,and reliability analysis of the trajectory following control is performed by programming using MATLAB.The simulation outcomes are then compared with the experimental results from the literature.The comparison indicates that the proposed complete calculation method is effective,reliable,and capable of achieving real-time and anti-interference following control performance.The simulation results with or without feedforward control show that the steady-state error is eliminated and that good control performance is obtained by introducing feedforward control.展开更多
Investigations about laying hens reactions on artificial light conditions were carried out in a climate chamber equipped with a floor housing system for laying hens. The release of moisture increased during light peri...Investigations about laying hens reactions on artificial light conditions were carried out in a climate chamber equipped with a floor housing system for laying hens. The release of moisture increased during light periods probably due to increased activity which increased respiration rate but also on increased scratching which increased evaporation of moisture from bedding material. The daily average was 6.29 g henl h"l at 4 lux and 5.97 g henl hl, at 93 lux which corresponds to a difference of 5%. The level of light intensity seemed to have little influence on the release of moisture. The total release of heat was slightly higher during light periods compared to dark periods. Explanations can be increased activity but also feed intake increasing the metabolic rate during light periods. The daily average of total heat production was 17.0 W per hen at 4 lux and 14.7 at 93 lux which corresponds to a difference of 16%. The release of carbon dioxide increased during light periods probably due to increased activity and respiration.展开更多

PPIs are usually represented by a simple binary model, whereas pathways are rep...Integration of pathway and protein-protein interaction(PPI) data can provide more information that could lead to new biological insights. PPIs are usually represented by a simple binary model, whereas pathways are represented by more complicated models. We developed a series of rules for transforming protein interactions from pathway to binary model, and the protein interactions from seven pathway databases, including PID, Bio Carta, Reactome, Net Path, INOH, SPIKE and KEGG, were transformed based on these rules. These pathway-derived binary protein interactions were integrated with PPIs from other five PPI databases including HPRD, Int Act, Bio GRID, MINT and DIP, to develop integrated dataset(named Path PPI). More detailed interaction type and modification information on protein interactions can be preserved in Path PPI than other existing datasets. Comparison analysis results indicate that most of the interaction overlaps values(OAB) among these pathway databases were less than 5%, and these databases must be used conjunctively.
